Open Question: Fur discoloration on a black dog.?
My 3 year old dachshund/poodle mix, who is completely black, has a round reddish-brown almost purple spot on her hip. She has just recovered from a severe bout of pancreatitis from which she was in the hospital for 3 or 4 weeks. The spot has recently come up and appears to be slightly indented. She also has a raised spot on the base of her tail, and a small, kind of scaly spot on her shoulder. She has no other changes than this. Just kind of curious.... moreVoting Question: whats a good dog food for a dog recovering from pancreatitis?
he's recovered completely, but he can't go back to his old food, maybe forever, he's currently on a brand of easily digestable food thats only available for purchase from the vet...and its so expensive. I know home made rice and chicken is an option, but my dog simply won't eat that...its gotta be kibble or canned food. I'm of the opinion that vet food is simply a kind of jewelery....kinda like "cleansing" multi vitamins at the pharmacy or basically everything they sell at a health food store....its good, but its not really worth the price....its not medicine, its just dog food.....surely theres a brand of dog food at the pet store thats designed for easy digestion. moreResolved Question: what to do for my dog when her tummy hurts?
My dog, Jilly is probably about 10. She's a Schnauzer Dachshund mix and she has pancreatitis. She's had it since I adopted her about 5 years ago and she gets enzymes in her food every day. She went from 12-18 pounds in the first 6 months of taking the medicine and has been pretty healthy ever since. But every once in a while, she still gets a bad tummy ache and doesn't want to eat. Usually it only lasts about 6-12 hours and she's begging for food again. The vet said that letting her wait it out and not eat for a bit is the best thing to do, but one thing I didn't think of asking, is if there's anything I can do or can give her that will make her a little more comfortable when she goes through this. She really seems to be suffering when she deals with it and I wish I could make her feel better. Any sugestions?I just want to say thanks to everyone who responded. As usual, she was better by evening and running around asking for food. moreResolved Question: My dog was has Pancreatitis & refuses to eat the Royal Cannin Low fat canned food, what else can I feed her?
She is recovering from Pancreatitis and was placed on a low fat diet, but will not eat the food perscribed to her,,,she's hungry because she's looking for food but will not eat the RC food. What else can I feed her that will be safe for her condition? moreResolved Question: Help. Need advice on the affect of illness on wolfdogs (wolf hybrids) and aggression.?
I am hoping this reaches wolf hybrid owners and/or rescuers and vets. We have a wolf hybrid of 11 years. While things have not always been easy (we rescued him at 1 year from a neglectful & abusive owner) We (his immediate caregivers) have had no serious issues with him in many years (5-6). We always keep him away from others and with us we learned how to keep dominance checks under control by consulting wolf-dog rescuers and learning proper training methods. So up until now he has been the clown of the family. Sweet, intelligent and fun. Suddenly though, he has developed a hair trigger "aggression" issue. I put that in quotes because if you turn your back on him as we were trained, the event ends. I do not think he actually is intending harm. I think, from my interactions, he is defensive or guarding himself when these events occur. My reasoning for this is that 2 months ago he went into a ketonic diabetic crisis and almost died. At the time we did not know he was diabetic and only a few days before he went into crisis did he show any signs (almost like a cat that way) and those signs were subtle. He stayed a week at the vet hospital, but came home ok, but now in the past 3-4 weeks he has developed this hair trigger "aggressive" temper. So my questions are - Can diabetes change an animal's behavior? Is it possible he is sicker than we think and this is him reacting to that illness? (the vets said there may be a secondary one since he also had pancreatitis of undetermined origin) At this point, I have become concerned he is dangerous to my mother who has him as she is older and not able to withstand a defensive situation. (NOTE he is so sweet the rest of the time) But I am at a loss about what to do. My understanding is wolf hybrids cannot readjust to a new owner and place. But it seems so cruel to put him down (suggestion of the vet). Yet, if these reactions are ones of a defensive nature, is it possible he is much sicker than we think? HELP!!!! I am completely gutted about all this.. Thank you - (Please do not comment if your comment is just to tell us we should not own one. That will not be of help here today. Thank you!) moreResolved Question: Any ideas what my dog could have?
I have a almost 2 year old (believe to be a toy) Chihuahua, she has been very listless, vommiting, and wanting to eat very bad but when she does she vommits it back up again, she wont touch water, we already took her in once she was said to have "Pancreatitis" and sent her home with medicine to take until its gone 3 times a day. She came home like a new dog, but last night she wasent herself again and was acting the same. But now following you around slumped down, and just very listless. We, again took her in at 3:12am due to it, a different vet was there. She told us that it's probably a virus and it'll go away in 1-2 weeks. But now, im doubting what she said. All I want right now is an answer before she gets worse. She weighs about 7-6 pounds she's pretty health, use to be very hyper-active. But all of a sudden she just, turned like this. I'm very worried.the first time we took her in was at 1-2am they apparently have random ER vets . idk . but i will get that checked as well . thanks it kinda eased my mind .LAWLZ @ bobbie. She's a SMALLER verison of the dog than happy now? :D and i took her in 2 times, costign all together for both almost 500 dollars. And them changing they're minds, regardless your right but there are ALSO people on here that might have ideas on what it could be, and thus when they tell me i search for it and see if it can connect to what she has. Take your rudeness and gtfo, i was looking for a suggestion on what it could be not some dummy trying to act all smarty smarty on me. ANYWAYS, my dumba*s cusion brought over his puppy pittbull that has a diease or w/e and we're pissed about it. because the dog could have very well had something. and he wont tell us, so now we're all stressing and shxt because we dont know whats wrong with her. and we want to catch it before it could be deadly. I'm probably gonna take her back down and get her checked again & from what my mom told me i think she said they did blood work, x-rays, and ect but keep changing they're minds. moreResolved Question: how fast can pancreatitis in dogs occur?

My husband and I recently became vegetarians, but we have three dogs than collectively eat more meat that we ever did. We are looking to switch to a dry dog food that is 100% Free Range (including any fish that may be in the ingredients), but one of our dogs has sporadic bouts of pancreatitis, so we must feed them food that has less than 10% crude fat and is preferably high in fiber (and ideally one that won't completely break the bank). All the Free Range products (e.g. orijen) that I have identified are quite high in fat due to the amount of meat in them. Any recommendations? moreResolved Question: Suggestions on bland diet for my French Bulldog?
I got her at 6 months old from a reputable breeder. She was the *runt*. She is a year old now and weighs a big 14 pounds. The first 2 months we had her she was doing great then we had a bout of Pancreatitis. That cleared up then Giardia. For the last 3 months the Giardia has come and gone. Got her going on Metronidazole 250 mg twice a day for 2 weeks. Did a re-check. The Giardia was worse. Then we did 3 weeks of Panacur. She was starting to have hard stools (which were so big (!) she screamed when she defecated!). This only lasted about a week with diarrhea in between the harder stools. Now, once again, she is having explosive diarrhea. When I say explosive I am not kidding. Got another stool sample to my vet. Will know tomorrow if we are dealing with Giardia again. My vet is thinking about doing biopsy of her colon. He has already done x-rays of her spine which is perfect. Anyway, I am now putting her on a bland diet of skinless boiled chicken and white rice. If anyone else has any other suggestions I am wide open. I have also been all over the internet looking at different things this could be and I am coming up with IBD, Colitis and a bunch of other stuff. Very frustrating. Yes, I have talked to the breeder and she is says there has been no problems with any of her dogs. She was feeding raw and California Naturals. She also raises chickens and sheep. The property and area was very clean and she does the show dog thing. As far as I could surmise she is a reputable breeder. I feed Evo Chicken and Turkey. Raw is difficult because I have 9 other dogs. Any suggestions and/or advice is greatly appreciated!Em: Great idea. I am getting some super answers. I am going to try several things suggested. She had boiled chicken tonight. I have to get the rice but I think I will try the canned pumpkin, yogurt and even the baby food. Her system just needs a good cleaning. I don't want to have to *fast* her. my vet is trying to stay clear of any kind of envasive procedure which requires anithesia. (sp). I was a nervous wreck when she was spayed. My daughter was in the surgery room and 3 other techs. She was closely monitored. moreResolved Question: What can I do to help my dog and I am on a limited budget?
My dog is an 11 year old Pom Mix...I took him to the Emergency vet on Friday night because he was having an episode of becoming very stiff and rigid and becoming wobbly right after that. I have worked in the vet industry and I immediately thought neurological issues. The episodes lasted for about 1-2 minutes. They drew his blood and all his levels were normal, with both a Superchem and a CBC. They told me to monitor him so I took him home - his physical exam was normal as well. I took him back to the vet on Saturday because he had a few more episodes like this within 2 hours. At this point they recommended him to stay overnight to be loaded on Pheno. Unfortunately, I am still paying off a $2000 bill for his pancreatitis surgery in May and this additional stay cannot be afforded. They gave me Pheno to take home, his dosage is 2 grains 2 times a day. Today Im worried, he is acting very wobbly and cannot seem to hold his balance. He seems very restless. I looked online and it stated that these are common side effects with Pheno. I am just concerned because he can barely walk on his own without bumping in to stuff. Im scared to give him his next dose of pheno and Im also scared that I may have been quick to jump to the conclusion that it is definitely a seizure and may be more bone/joint related...HELP :( moreResolved Question: My dog's back skin ripples/crawls/moves with our without being touched.?
This is really hard to describe, but I'll do it to the best of my ability. I have a 6 year old chihuahua/greyhound mix. She had severe pancreatitis about 2 weeks ago and was healthy/perfect everything a few days after being treated for it. Two days ago we had her taken in for a routine dental cleaning. Yesterday she was perfectly fine/great eating habits/playful/bowel movement was fine. Today around the afternoon we noticed she didn't eat lunch. The skin on her back moves, it moves more so when we touch her back softly. It moves in a scrunched up kind of way. It almost looks like a ripple if you were to tap your finger into still water. Her lower jaw quivered slightly (which I've heard is an indication a dog may be in pain) She let out two loud discomfort yelps when I took her to go to the backyard to relieve herself. She hasn't helped since It's been about 3 hours) she hasn't had her jaw quiver either. Her skin is still moving persistently with small to moderate breaks in between. I know I'll get a lot of "take her to vet" answers, which I'm planning to take her tomorrow. I'd just like to know if anyone has heard of this happening or have had this happen to their dog. Thanks! moreResolved Question: My dog has been diagnosed with pancreatitis, is he going to be ok? (Help needed!!)?
My 8 yr old mongrel had 2 rotten teeth and went to the vets on Monday to have them pulled out. He hasn't been eating properly for about a month, and has been even worse since we got him home from the teeth extraction. We took him back to the vets, and she was extremely concerned about him not eating. She is keeping him in overnight, on a drip because apparantly he is dehydrated. They have done a blood test, which has shown pancreatitis. They are doing another test in the morning and if that is not useful, they are going to do an ultrasound. Unfortunately, my mum and I found a big tumour on his chest about a week ago, which I'm not sure is anything to do with it. Is my dog going to be ok? We had another dog diagnosed with this, and she was put to sleep the day after. My dog eats an extremely healthy diet (the BARF diet) He is our much loved family pet, and I would really like some advice from someone. Thanks. Thanks for the great answers everyone :) moreResolved Question: What to feed a dog prone to pancreatitis?
I adopted a 7 year old beagle mix about 3 weeks ago. I had to rush her to the vet the other day because she got VERY sick. Turns out she has pancreatitis. She's doing somewhat better and I have her on a diet of rice, chicken, chicken broth and a little baby food. When she gets better what should I feed her? Anyone have any experience with this? moreVoting Question: Toy poodle with pancreatitis?
Hi I have a toy poodle that is 3 years old and has had digestive problems for a long time. She would feel very bad for a day or so, tummy would gurgle terrible, then the next day have horrible gas, then she'd be okay. WE were told she had "sensitive stomach" to feed her good dog food with no human food and sometimes yogurt. FInally she got so bad one day she spit up blood. WE took her back in and they said she has pancreatitus. They told us to feed her low fat high carbs, On line I find more info about rice and boiled chicken. I found baby food rice with DHA and probiotics. I've been mixing small amounts with the chicken and wonder if this is okay? It says it is rice flour, so don't know if it's the same as the cooked rice I'm supposed to give. THANK YOU! moreVoting Question: How can you tell if your dog has pancreatitis?
If the dog has the certain symptoms, how can you cure it? Because I'm starting to think that my dog has it and our vet does not take emergency drop offs, and im entrusting my dog to another family because in two days we are going on a four day trip. Two days ago, my dog left two puke spots right next to each other in my room, and two others in the living room. yesterday we went to a dog grooming place to schedule an appointment, and my dog being the territory hog he is, peed in the building. i noticed that the pee was reaally yellow, which i think is a sign of dehydration, even when he got to drink his water before he left. also, he is eating a lot less than usual, and we mostly feed him chicken because he wont eat his dog food. im trying every day for him to eat the dog food and he just turns his head away. i really do think he has it, and my dad is blaming me for it even though all he feeds him is human food and im trying to hard for my dog to eat his dog food. also, what are some yummy AND healthy foods for dogs, because im trying to get my dog to get used to his dog food. im currently feeding him the Cesar brand dog food, wet. im really worried.also, i only have 1 vet in my community. since im a military child, theres only 1 vet area on the base and we currently live in japan. i dont know any vets off base and i cant speak japanese. the only american vet is the one on base and thats the one that does NOT take emergency drop offs moreResolved Question: 13 year old male dog acting very strange?! HELP?
My dog is 13 years old and he has pancreatitis. 2 days ago he started acting very strange he had red bloodshot eyes and had a "million mile" stare. He wouldn't recognize you unless you put your hand by his nose. He also began running into various objects like the coffee table, and a pine tree. He also has lost his appetite and drinks very little water. He also has lost some of his balance when walking. I know he is old but what could be causing this? any ideas? moreResolved Question: Dog's nose turning pink, and has diarrhea?
Last summer our two dachshunds nose turned pink, and they developed diarrhea. We took them to the vets. The vets never told us specifically what it was except that whatever caused it caused them to develop pancreatitis. Well now it is happening again. We have not used any chemicals in the house for the past couple weeks, and they are on a leash when they go outside. We don't use any chemicals on our lawn either. What could this be? Is it just thier pancreatitis acting up again? We don't feed them anything except thier dog food. Has anyone else had this problem? moreResolved Question: my dog is lethargic with pancreatitis?
he was diagnosed with pancreatitis three weeks ago and is still larthargic and losing weight. He eats a bland diet still and drinks water and still vomits now and then. He is very warm to the touch. moreResolved Question: My dog is breathing a little heavier than normal?
Okay, my 6 year old boxer dog Wilson wasn't feeling too good starting wednesday. On thursday night he threw up 6 times all the food he had eaten since tuesday. We took him to the vet on friday and she said he was severely dehydrated and she diagnosed him with pancreatitis and gave him a shot .. we didnt give him any food for the 1st 24 hours after that. We have give him VERY little food the last two days and have given him the pedialite frozen pops because he wont drink the liquid, even the unflavored. My question is that he has been breathing a little heavier than normal ever since. It is not super heavy but just a little more than normal for him. Any thoughts of why he is doing this?????????????.. I am going to take him in this week again just to make sure. If anyone can think of any reasons let me know moreResolved Question: What's wrong with my dog?
He's been throwing up a little bit recently, just a bit of yellowish stuff.. But now, we're finding his pee all over the house. He's house trained, so he always used to go outside. We got him from the pound so we didn't train him ourselves. Just a few hours ago, he walked into my doorway and just stood there and peed. I started trying to get him outside and he stood for a little bit looking really confused, then he snapped out of it and ran outside. It was like he couldn't control it, or didn't realize what he was doing. Earlier this morning I left the living room for a minute and the next thing I know there's pee all over the ottoman. When he peed in the house before (a long time ago), we'd think it was because he was angry at us, because he never did unless we'd been away all day. He loves company, and on the days that we're out most of the day, he gets angry. He's very very energetic, greets us at the door and everything. He loves to eat, but we're careful not to overfeed him. I'm really worried about him, seeing that he's been with us a while and is getting old. If it helps any, he's a maltese/terrier mix, probably about 7 or 8. He's had acute pancreatitis before, but it cleared up after just a little bit. Can anyone help? Thank you (: moreResolved Question: Dog Section. Gastroentenitis or Pancreatitis? Raw feeders?
Ok, so we went to the vet(yall can go through my questions), and was told my Toy Poodle has Gastroentrenis(sp?), or Pancreatitis. They are still doing blood work. I was sent home with medicine and Prescription Diet ID dog food. Do I have to feed that stuff to her? My dogs are on raw meat diets.I know. She's had it before, and it did no good..I mean had the Hill's IDI was wondering if dairy could cause either of those problems.I told them. While they didn't say anything, they weren't impressed. They said to feed that stuff, and then to go back to her regular diet.I don't feed dairy, I was just wondering. moreResolved Question: how do seizures look like when a dog is having them?
my dog has pancreatitis, and i looked online about symptoms and it said seizures is one of them. i think i may have witnessed my dog have one today but im not sure. he's been shaking all day, perhaps because of the pain? i just brought him from the vet and cant afford to leave him there over night. moreResolved Question: i gave my dog a capsual and it broke in his mouth twice do i try again?

Yesterday we had our dog put down, She had severe pancreatitis and liver failer she was ill for 2 weeks and we tryed every medicine the vet would give us. She continued to get worse and by now suffering severe jaundice, She was also badly swollen in the middle area. Before going i read up on it and was aware they may wee/Poo themselves. When he started the injection she fell asleep Instant and died in seconds, seconds later she had fluid coming out of her mouth and nose the vet said this was normal and was lung fluid but id never seen it mentioned before, there was alot of it too a good 1/2 a pint or so it covered the vets table. So i was just wondering if the vet was telling the truth that this was normal, or it was some other condition she also had wrong with her lungs that he just didnt want to tell me about. Sorry if this was too descriptive for some people, im just wondering what the truth was. Also sorry for my spelling. moreResolved Question: Anyone have experience with Colitis in dogs?
I have a one year old Great Dane that has had chronic stomach issues for months now. Nothing I've tried has eliminated the problem and I've spent almost $1000 at the vet's and haven't found a solution that will work yet. His symptoms are intermittent loose stools, lack of appetite and weight loss. Some days he eats and poops normally and then he goes through phases for a few days where he doesn't want to eat much and wakes me up in the night to go out. I have wormed him (with Pyrantel pamoate) and treated him for whip worms (with Ivermectin) just in case, but he's had 3 negative fecal samples done at the vet's advice so I really don't think there is any chance that it is parasites. He had a blood work up that came back normal. Then the vet did another blood panel to test for Pancreatitis which also came back normal. The vet then said he thought it was Colitis and sold me Hill's WD prescription dog food. The first ingredient in this food is corn and it just made my dog poop 5 x more than he normally does and he seemed to lose more weight. I hate to act like I know better than a vet, but the WD formula is used for dogs that need to lose weight. My dog is already extremely skinny and not eating well. That doesn't make sense to me to give a skinny dog a diet formula. The vet said he was prescribing it because Colitis can be helped by a high fiber diet. Does anyone know of a good way to add fiber to the diet other than the prescription food? I have my dog on Blue Buffalo Salmon and Potato formula right now. He seems to have gained a pound or two back, but he's still having stomach issues. He's developing bumps on his muzzle also so now I'm wondering if he's having a reaction to something in that food. Does anyone have experience with Colitis or anything like this with their dogs? I'm open to any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks!@Shelter Puppies Rule - I did have him on a raw diet for 3-4 months. My other dogs did wonderfully on it, but my Dane still had stomach issues and it was difficult to get him to eat enough so he did not gain any weight. moreResolved Question: What is a good hollistic dog food for my dog with acute pancreatitis?
Okay so my four year old dog, Teddy, has been through so much from being diagnoised with epilepsy at 6 months of age to now having pancreatitis. He has lost a substantial amount of weight but that is expected since we are no longer giving him 100 calories of cheese with his pills(we know that probably caused it in hindsight)...just what can I feed my baby so he can live a long healthy life? he does love chicken and not beef which is what royal canine is comprised of. Now that you have taken the time to read the saga of my past couple of weeks...Please help?!?! Of course I will double check with his vet before I initiate anything new!3% fat or under is prefered moreResolved Question: what kind of food should I feed my 8 year old yorkie?
He seems very healthy all the time, active and energetic. But he had through a period of 4 years 3 episodes of pancreatitis. After the usual treatment (antibiotics, IV, etc )he did well. Kept with bland diet for a week, but after trying to incorporate slowly regular dog food, he didn't tolerate it at all. I have tried everything, even the science food. This happened every single time.So for the last few months, going against my vet advice, I cook for him;skinless boneless chicken breast boiled with carrots, green beans, rice and potatoes. He loves it, but my concern is if this diet is nutritious enough. moreResolved Question: Dog eating issues with my Yorkshire Terrier.?
I have a 2 year old yorkie and she won't eat if she gets too hungry. If she gets too hungry her stomach will growl, she gets bloated and then she won't eat. I have tried feeding her soft food but sometimes that doesn't work. This only happens once in a while. Also keep in mind that if i try to feed her table scraps she will get pancreatitis. So what is something that i could do or feed her when ever she gets too hungry?I feed her two times everyday. And feed her at the same times.I feed her Canidae dog food which is like the best dog food to feed.SHE IS SO HUNGRY THAT HER STOMACH WILL HURT HER!!!it is a chicken flavor moreResolved Question: Ground Flax Seed for Dog Incontinence?
My 2 year old 16 lb pug/boston mix was recently diagnosed with spay incontinence. She was prrescribed Prion (which i refuse to give her due to side effects that can develop over time) I have decided to introduce flax seeds into her diet because they can be converted to estrogen and should have a similar effect that Proin would without the side effects.... However, I have heard that flax seeds can also cause constipation and pancreatitis in dogs... My question is, can anyone reccomend a dosage? I was thinking of a half tsp a day ground up? moreResolved Question: Major dog food dilemma. One dog needs a more balanced food one can't handle it. whats a good food for both?
My one dog a small 8lb dog needs a food low in fat and protein or he gets very sick she he is on California Naturals Herring and Sweet potato. (He has had pancreatitis and other gastrointestinal issues CN has been the best food ever for him with those issues and his food allergies, he also can't tolerate corn) My other dog is a larger (still a small dog) more sporty dog, a Terrier mix who is extremely athletic, she needs a more balanced diet. We feel feeding her such a limited diet is causing her more harm than good. We thought about putting her on Innova and leaving him on California Naturals but that just doesn't seem to be option right now. (That would be around $60 a month vs $30...then again them each having their own bag would last them 2 months each...so it may be doable...a 15lb bag of CN lasts the 2 of them a month) So in the meantime I need a food they will both thrive and be healthy on, any suggestions? The issue with getting the two different foods roughly 30 bucks a piece is spending the $60 a month vs $30. Its all that money coming out at once on a budget. I'd like to have them on the same food moreVoting Question: Whats wrong with my Dog? Help.?
I have a 4 year old Maltese. He used to ALWAYS be happy, running around, jumping, and everything. Since the past 3 weeks, he just lost all of that. He lays around, when we come home he use to get so happy and jump around, now he just barks and gets happy, but it only lasts for 5 minutes, he walks into corners and stands, he finds awkward places to go, he will just lay down and keep his eyes open and just stares. He does just the strangest things. We've taken him to several different vets because nothing is helping. They've said he had pancreatitis, then another vet ruled that out, then said he might have liver caner. He also has a dislocated in his neck. He also has extremely high liver enzymes. He is on milk thistle and vitamin E, which is what the doctors have told us. They also give him cortisone shots. Nothing is helping him. What else can it be? moreResolved Question: Question about supportive care for an older dog.?
My dog is 13 year old Sheltie mix? We plant to take him to the vet for supportive care where they Monitor him for a few days over night. What they do is stick IV his arms to stop the vomiting and diarrhea he has been having. They said he has Chronic low Grade pancreatitis. Also he has a mass on his spleen and an enlarged lymph node. So after we do the supportive care we plan to get a second opinion at another vet. As the one we take him to know seems to only care about money and wont tell us what is wrong. The vet we plan on getting the second opinion has many great reviews? And they said we can most likely make payments the vet we take him to now does not offer payment plans and wants all the money upfront. So my question is did anyone do this for their dog or cat and did it turn out ok did it make your dog or cat back to normal? He is not used to being in a cage what could i do to help him so he does not cry all night. We are taking him to the vet i asked a question stop with the mean answers. We do not plan on euthanizing him untill we know he is truly suffering he seems happy. What i mean is the vet would put him in a cage and he is not used to it. moreResolved Question: I have a question about my dogs spleen.?
Is there a way the vet can look at the mass on his spleen without having to do surgery? We did an ultra sound and they found a mass. Also the vet said he has pancreatitis (spelling). Could that have caused the mass on his spleen? He has the signs of pancreatitis (spelling) So we do not think its cancer as he has more signs or pancreatitis(spelling) then cancer. He is 13 By the way and he is a sheltie mix if that helps.we already did an ultra sound.I forgot to mention we are goind to due supportive care to help with the pancercists. moreResolved Question: What is wrong with my dog?
My dog has been ill since last Wednesday, 3/10/10. I took him to the vet on Saturday. At that time he was very weak, wouldn't walk much, seemed very dizzy/disoriented and not eating. The vet ran blood work, urine analysis, and xrays - all were clean except one high pancreas enzyme. The vet put him on an injectible antibiotic that is supposed to last two weeks and stated he thinks the dog has pancreatitis. He seemed to feel slightly better, is now eating and moving around a little bit more but is not progressively getting better since Sunday. He is currently showing the following symptoms: weakness, dizziness/incoordination, runny nose, he looks like he is losing weight but is eating, he is breathing strange- almost like he has a stuffy nose-breathing really hard but through his nose but no panting, off and on he is getting really drooly, and is urinating in the house which is not normal for him. He still will not go up/down the stairs and if he tries loses balance, and bumping into walls when walking. When he is just standing still he is leaning on his back legs and seems like he is trying to stable himself from being dizzy or something. I also noticed a white spot in the middle of his left eye- possibly a cataract forming? It wasn't there a week ago. My dog is 6 1/2 yrs old, Boxer, Male, not neutered. Any ideas on what this could be, or any test I should ask my vet to run? Thanks for the help!Vet has him on Purina EN - its is prescription canned food. moreResolved Question: I am looking for either a Female Golden Retriever, Golden Yellow Lab or a cross between the two.?
OK where to begin. My doctor/s have given me a prescription for a Dog to help me with my PTSD, and Chronic depression. I think it is safe to say I have been through the ringer. I really do not like to talk about it and avoid the questions I get from others once they find out what I did when I worked for the government. Reoccurring nightmares, Cold Sweats and more meds than a frickin pharmacy. I love dogs and it seems like its the only time I feel normal. I have been through just about every "program" from Pets for Vets to CCI (Canine Companions for independence). From there I went to shelters and there I found one dog that I just fell in love with. He was a Black Lab/Pit Bull cross (though I could never see the pit in him personality wise or physicaly). 2 Weeks later he stopped drinking water and after a week later and $1200 worth of vet visits I found out he had Chronic Severe pancreatitis. He died a week later. A local small animal rescue heard about my situation (how I have no idea) and offered to help find me a healthy dog. After about a month a searching we found a pure breed Black Lab he is 18 months and has a great disposition. Now with my Dr.'s prescription it qualified me to have most of the costs of the dog icluding vet bills insurance, a small stipend for food and about 20 dollars for incidentals such as chew bones, Kennels and brushes. Anyhow, part of the deal with me is that I need to find a dog that's in good health and is expected to stay that way and is no older than 3/half years old. No aggressive pure breeds such as Rottweilers , Pit Bulls Doberman etc... Now each dog I get I have a 25 day period to find out if the would be dog is for me and that it is in good health. During that time if I find that I can a dog that has no pre existing conditions and fits in with my life style the state will reimburse me at the end of each fiscal year. Well with the dog I have now I thought I had a home run. Although it was not specifically the color or sex I was looking for he was defiantly in good health and his and my personality fit fairly well. A few bugs but I don't need perfection. Well now I have had him for about 17 days and last night I discovered he is epileptic. F#@%! I am looking left and right but not much luck. I did find a breeder that offered me one of his pups but I would have to pay for shipping. There was no way I could pay that much. So now I have Thor (the dog that has epilepsy, and yesterday at about 9PM on March 17th 2010 somehow slipped out of his harness and got hit by a car sorry folks its hard not to laugh) as far as the injury's he sustained part of hit little tail was cut up pretty bad and he got his bell rung pretty good other than that he is just fine not so much as a slight concusion, aside from his previous condition. Left one hell of a dent on the bumper of the car! (NOW THAT'S A HARD FRICKIN HEAD!!!). I am trying to keep it light but it is tearing me up inside. Look, I know that whoever you are you don't know me and I know that this world owes us nothing, so I am not expecting a miracle. I am just hoping somewhere out there that there is a Dog out there for me. All my life I have wanted a Golden Retriever/Golden,Yellow Lab Hybrid. If I had not been injured in the line of duty I would be out there making this dream a reality. I am also hoping for a non spayed female so that I will not have to start looking again. I would maybe breed her twice at most keep one of the pups so I wont have to look again. Again I would be grateful for a healthy retriever, but I figure if I ask I just may receive. If my dream were to be realized I would pay it forward for as long as I can. Thank you Sincerely moreVoting Question: my dog is really sick. some one with veterinarian experience please help.?
it started 5 days ago. i have 8 year old Pomeranian. she wouldn't get up, eat, or even let anyone touch her. as it continued, she still wouldn't eat, she would shake and pant. her tail has been down this whole time. the only thing she can eat is rice. she cant even walk normal SOMETIMES, shes all wobbly. she has diarrhea and she is vomiting, and it seems sometimes she cant hold her bladder the way she usually could (im talking about peeing) she cant walk up stairs or anything shes all mopey. i took her to the vet and spent over 600$ on xrays and blood work and everything. they couldnt find anything. then they call and say it might be pancreatitis. so i took her to another vet to see there opinion and to test her for pancreatitis and it came out negative. also, they have no idea what is wrong with her either. and they touched her whole body, she didnt mind so it has to be something inside or mental, please help. moreResolved Question: Please help me, my dog is scaring me!?
PLEEEAASSEE READ!! PLEASE DONT SAY ITS TOO LONG AND I WONT READ IT. Please help me, I love my dog. My German Shepherd Collie mix, Coco, I think has Cushing's Disease. Here are the symptoms, increased appetite, increased drinking and urination, panting, high blood pressure, bulging abdomen, skin lumps and discoloring, hair loss, muscle weakness, and nervous system disorders. Coco is 10 years old, and this occurs in older dogs. Her hips have been hurting her for the past year and half. She has lumps on her upper belly and hips. She has been excessively panting. I think we should take her too the vet, but last time we did, the vet said "Oh don't worry about the lumps!", and we didnt think anything of it. I really want to know if she has it, thank you! Here are more symptoms I found. (The ones that have *** is the one she has.) The most common symptoms include: • increased/excessive water consumption (polydipsia) • increased/excessive urination (polyuria) • urinary accidents in previously housetrained dogs • increased/excessive appetite (polyphagia) *** • appearance of food stealing/guarding, begging, trash dumping, etc. *** • sagging, bloated, pot-bellied appearance *** • weight gain or its appearance, due to fat redistribution *** • loss of muscle mass, giving the appearance of weight loss • bony, skull-like appearance of head • exercise intolerance, lethargy, general or hind-leg weakness • new reluctance to jump on furniture or people • excess panting, seeking cool surfaces to rest on *** • symmetrically thinning hair or baldness (alopecia) on torso • other coat changes like dullness, dryness • slow regrowth of hair after clipping • thin, wrinkled, fragile, and/or darkly pigmented skin • easily damaged/bruised skin that heals slowly • hard, calcified lumps in the skin (calcinosis cutis) *** • susceptibility to infections (especially skin and urinary) • diabetes, pancreatitis, seizuresthe lumps on her are under the fur, and you can't see them. it doesnt it hurt her when you touch them, and we can't take her to another vet. im going to give her glucosamine chondrotin (or however you spell it.) for her hips. because she can barely get up, and sometimes at night she cries, and we think it's her hips. moreResolved Question: DS: Do you FLIP out when someone feeds your dog without permission?
Not dog food. People food. I know I get very angry. Today, we had family over, and my cousin was eating some horseradish cheese (can anyone say disgusting?). I went into my bedroom to grab my cell phone, and when I came back out I see him handing Jinx this cheese! HORSERADISH cheese. I was pissed (excuse my french.)!!!!!! I mean, seriously, I was pissed enough that he just fed my dog without my permission, but this is something that could hurt Jinx's stomach and cause constipation. It wasn't much, but enough to still hurt his stomach. I told him that he better pray he doesn't get sick, because I'd be calling him yelling at his stupidity. I didn't say anything else, because we had a 6y/o over, and I really didn't want to ruin the mood. I later did mention something to my parents, to have them help me watch Jinx, to be sure he was ok. He's fine. But I was SO royally PISSED that he did that. What would have happened if Jinx was allergic or it was chocolate, grapes, turkey skin (pancreatitis), etc. I just wanted to know if you flip out at this stuff. I know I do. (: Thanks for answers/stars!Most of the time, when they ask, I would say yes. We don't get too much company, so the opporunity doesn't come often. But this cheese isn't at all healthy for the dogs..My dogs have had their fair share of human food, but never more than a safe portion. Poppy - I agree with that. When someone hits my dog or disrepects them, I get very angry. That's happened on occassion, and each time that person was promptly removed from my house/presence. It's disrespectlful to the dog, and me. moreResolved Question: How to help a heavy alcoholic that just quit cold turkey (my dad)?
I'm actually quite shocked. He got really sick (I thought he'd finally killed his liver and was getting ready to offer him a piece of mine) but it was pancreatitis. They told him he had to quit or end up with complications like type 2 diabetes. And lo and behold, he DID! I'm so proud of him- he's a martial arts master and otherwise very healthy except his joints (he's 54) but he's been an alcoholic for at least 35 years and I had almost never seen him without his jaeger (hidden from everyone else in a silver cup disguised as water) so how can I help? I don't live with him and can't leave my house for long because my dog has cancer and needs round-the-clock care. I thought some tasty treats that would be easy on his pancreas maybe? When my mom quit when she found out she was pregnant she said she was hungry all the time. He doesn't really like to talk about it so I just made sure he knew I was proud of him and believed in him. I know he can do it because he quit for like three years once to get my mom to marry himNo no he's OK we know about DTs. When my mom quit she went into DTs and he had to rush her to the hospital. He had been drinking less before he was officially diagnosed so he's alright, plus his wife is watching him carefully. Wow I never thought I'd live to see the day he quit too!lol just to clarify when I said joints I was talking about needing a hip replacement and having issues with his knees, not weed (as one of my friends thought when she saw the question pulled up) moreResolved Question: 2.5 yr old pug with pancreatitis, wasting away, vets are at a loss on what to do or think anymore. HELP!?
It all started when we gave him some canned Iams food (he's normally on Natural Balance dry food but we were running low so I thought supplementing with a little canned would be fine until I could get to Petco to get more dry food). Vomitting, mucousy stools, no appetite--all the classic symptoms. He's been in and out of the vet office for a month now with fevers and weight loss. He started at 20 lbs and he's down to 14 now. He literally WILL NOT eat. The vet seems to be at a loss and I HATE seeing my dog like this it's just heartbreaking. Please please help! :( moreResolved Question: My dog is lethargic and wont eat?
She got a stomach x-ray and a pancreatitis test (both negative) because she ate a volcano taco a few days ago moreResolved Question: will canine pancreatitis every go away? will the seizures stop too? if treated by a vet w/ amoxicillin?
the vet took his blood and it showed his had low glucose and canine pancreatitis, they put him on amoxicillin and an anti-flammitory pain pill and put him on blane dog food with fiber for 2 weeks. He's never had this problem before til now. His a brindle boxer that's 10yrs old. the vet said his seizures came from this. moreResolved Question: BARF diet for a dog with a history of Pancreatitis?
I have a very sick dog lets just say, and I want to get her started on the BARF diet. Though I'm not sure, she has had pancreatitis so I'm not sure if i should start her on it or not. If so, how should I introduce it to her? should I do at first for a week what she's used to in the morning and raw at night. and should I do cooked or raw meats since we aren't quite sure how high her immunity is right now. And which meats should I avoid giving? I know pork definitely but is there any others? She just got dewormed.Patong - obvious troll is obvious Sherri- Thanks, but I have a feeling that the vet isn't being exactly truthful with us - we could switch but most vets are against the BARF diets anyways.al l- I wouldn't be feeding her the ordered packaged food, I'd get it fresh from a grocery store. I would freeze it for 24 hours, thaw it and then feed it to my dog. Also dogs digestive system is built to kill bacterias so if a bacteria did actually get into the system, it would have to go through alot to do so. Which is why its rare for it to happen to a dog that's eating a raw diet. Also dog food that is packaged with all the fillers and preservatives are filled with bacteria's and harder for the dog to digest and are more likely to get a bacterial infection. Curtis M- I think she got on the line of having it, but we treated it immediately and she hasn't had an issue since (this was about in may last year) My dad had given her ham without telling anyone and she came down with it. And really? raw pork? well thanks I think I'll just switch then.TruKidz- Hmm ok that sounds good, yeah I never really thought of dogs eating grains and vegetables much in the wild so I think I'll just switch to prey model. And I said not pork because they always warn for dogs that have pancreatitis to not eat it since its high in fat. Maybe that's just cooked pork though - Thanks! that helped a ton! moreResolved Question: My dog hasn't eaten in 3 days, what should I do?
I have a 9 year old boxer/lab mix that hasn't been herself lately. The past few months she hasn't been eating her normal amount of food. About two weeks ago, she started vomiting a lot. Last Saturday, I was out of town, and my mother took her to the emergency vet because she hadn't eaten in a few days, was vomiting up her water, and had bloody diarrhea. The vet said she was dehydrated and put a water pack in her back. They ran some blood work and did an abdominal x-ray. Nothing showed up, other than her pancreas was inflamed. The vet wanted to keep her overnight to hook her up to an IV, but my mom decided against it (mainly because she thought the dog would be more comfortable at home). They gave her an antibiotic to give her every 12 hours. They told my mom to wait 12 hours to give her water. If she kept that down, we could feed her a bland diet of hamburger and rice every 4 hours. She kept her water down and was eating regularly until Wednesday. On Thursday, my dad took her to our regular vet for me (I couldn't get out of work), and the vet said she was still dehydrated and she has pancreatitis. He told him to keep giving her the antibiotic the other vet gave us and also gave us another one. He also told my dad to give her an antacid every night at bedtime. She still wouldn't eat Thursday night or yesterday. She is very lethargic and only gets off the couch or chair to go outside. We can bring her water dish to her, and she will drink. She turns her head at food and starts to gag when we bring food to her, though. My sister and I got her to eat two pieces of meat, but that's not enough. Her eyes are still very animated, though. She barks when someone comes in the door, and she wags her tail when we talk to her. I just don't know how much longer she can go without eating or what to do. The emergency vet told my mom last week that the next step is an ultrasound. I talked to our vet, and he told me that he couldn't get us one until later next week, but he deals with the emergency vet and the emergency vet suggested we go there. I called to make an appointment, and they told me they needed a referral. With the referral, they can't take her until Monday. The only way we could possibly get one sooner is to admit her to the emergency room again, but they can't guarantee us one. I'm just at a loss here. I love this dog. I've had her since I was 14, and she was only 5 weeks old. I don't want to see her starve herself. Is there anything I can do?She normally eats Iams Large Breed. She has eaten it all her life.Thank you so much Field of Gold! She ate several plates of chicken and rice! moreResolved Question: My dog has pancreatitis?
Well, my dog has been feeling really badly the last couple of days and my mom decided to take her to the vet. They weren't exactly sure so they took some blood and then my mom found out today that it's pancreatitis. I was at school but she said that the doctor said it was very 'severe'. My mom said she's going to stay at the vet for a couple of days and they're going to hydrate her. Basically what I'm wondering is what are her chances of living? moreResolved Question: I may have to put my dog down and I wanted to ask a few questions.?
I have a female pit-bull who will be two years old in March. When she was 8 months old she was diagnosed with Demodex, she got treatment for it and it went away. Maybe a month later she got sick and was throwing up and losing all her hair again. I took her back to the vet and she was diagnosed with Pancreatitis. We changed her diet to the ID prescription dog food and we don't giver her table scraps but she will from time to time get sick and throw up and not want to eat or drink. The skin issue was never solved until last October. The vet said she had Staph bacteria infection in her skin. She was put on antibiotics for a month and she didn't break out again until just a few days ago and now she isn't wanting to eat or drink that much. My husband and I have done everything we can think of for her and have spent around 1500 dollars in vet bills in the past year. I feel bad because I don't know if she is in pain and we can't afford to keep taking her to vet. My husbands work requires us to travel around the U.S. and it doesn't make the situation better. We also don't know anyone who would take her and be able to spend this kind of money on her. And I've already called an adoption agency for just pit-bulls and they told me they can't take her beacuse of her health issues. I have never had to put one of my dogs down before and I don't know what else to do. Does it make me a horrible pet owner to have to resort to putting my dog down ? Has anyone else had to put their dog down because they couldn't afford the vet bills ? moreResolved Question: My dog is sick with abdominal pains. What might it be?
My dog (a little chihuahua X)came down sick Wednesday evening. I noticed earlier that afternoon he was acting a little funny by laying in my other dog's crate...which is odd because he hates crates. Anyway, I went to feed all the dogs a couple hours later(there's 4 total in the house), and noticed that he didn't want to eat, so I heated up a little wet food for him, which he ate. At this point I felt his stomach and noticed it was REALLY hard and tight and he seemed quite under the weather (his tail was down, and he usually has a tail that curls over his back). I was so concerned with how tight and hard his stomach felt that I brought him to the emergency vet within a half hour of noticing this. There were 2 critical cases ahead of us and one doctor, so we ended up waiting 2 hours before my dog was even seen. All the emergency vet did was feel him and take x rays. He said his stomach felt normal (even after I stressed that it wasn't normal for my dog). The vet said everything looked normal on the x ray--no twisting or sign of bloat, but that there was a lot of food in his stomach (and I hadn't fed him much that evening before taking him). That vet put him on metoclopramide, and sent us home. Noticing that he wasn't getting any better, I brought him to my regular vet (with the ok from the emergency vet) yesterday, before the holiday weekend. The regular vet gave him subcutaneous fluids, took more xrays, ran a blood work panel and a snap test for pancreatitis. I showed my regular vet the x rays from the emergency vet, and he said that in one of them, some of my dog's organs were kind of squished up almost into his ribcage and his stomach size was borderline normal, but enlarged. In the x ray taken yesterday, his organs appeared normal, and his stomach was at a normal size again--but the lining was quite a bit thicker than normal. The blood work panel came back normal all around and the pancreatitis test was negative. They told me he had an inflamed digestive tract, but they didn't know what was causing it, so they told me to finish the two day metoclopramide from the emergency vet and give him and bland diet (hamburger and rice) and wait a couple days and see. He seems really listless, just sleeping on the couch or in a crate all day unless it's time to eat or someone comes to the door (in which case he'll do a subdued alarm bark). He doesn't seem to be drinking on his own, so I've been giving him some broth (a tiny bit of wet dog food + water) which he'll drink. His bowel movements have been at normal intervals and of regular consistency, although not nearly as big or as much as normal (think the thickness of earthworms, instead of the normal thickness which is the diameter of a nickel<<sorry bad analogy, but you get the point?). His belly continues to be really tense and painful. About an hour ago though, he passed some diarrhea (?). My grandma let him out in the back yard when I was getting out of the shower. She said it poured out of him. I checked it out a few minutes later, and it was nearly all mucus with what I think appear to be tiny pebbles of fully formed stool. I don't think he got into anything. He was only alone for one hour the day he became ill and he isn't the kind of dog to get into anything. The only thing I can think of is that a few days ago I saw there was a recall on cow hooves for salmonella concerns. My dogs got their first cow hooves a few weeks ago. I also started thinking and I realized that just last week I gave them all raw marrow bones that I got from the grocery store. I usually pick them up after a few hours, but this time there was one that didn't get eaten and sat out for a day. But if it were either of those two things, wouldn't the other three dogs be sick as well? I also work at a dog boarding kennel and this dog is one of two I bring to work with me, so illness from other dogs is also a possibility. Please keep in mind--this isn't just a minor digestive upset. I see minor upsets all the time at work, and this is not that. My dog is in a lot of physical pain as well. What I'd like to know is: what do you think is the cause my dog's inflamed stomach and digestive tract? I'd just like some input so I can keep an open mind about the cause of his illness and present some possibilities to the vet if he doesn't improve over the weekend. Thank you so much!He improved greatly Sunday and Monday, then was as worse as he was when this all started, last week. My vet ran a parasite screen yesterday just in case and everything was negative. They put him on an antibiotic as a precaution yesterday. Trying to get an appointment to see an internal medicine specialist. I'd still appreciate any ideas. Thanks again moreResolved Question: Can a dog all of the sudden become sensitive or allergic to her food?
I’m looking for any advise as I’m at a loss. My 3 year old Shih Tzu was diagnosed with pancreatitis a week and a half ago. She has been back and forth to the vet. Every time she started to get better and eat again (giving her very small amounts) the next morning the symptoms would return. Part of the issue was that she was having a bad reaction to the antibiotic they had her one. As soon as we stopped giving that to her (per the Dr. orders) she sparked back up and got her appetite back. We though we were home free. She was great all day yesterday. Playful, energetic, ate her food, stool started to get back to normal. Then before bed she vomited her food. She ate a few pieces of her food and then went to sleep. Middle of the night we hear her tummy making crazy noises…and vomit again and then the diarrhea started up again. It like any food in her tummy she want it out. So I’m trying to figure out what caused this to happy and why it keep happening. She is VERY allergic to almost everything so all she ever eats is Advoderm Beef and Natures Miracle Lamb Treats as a snack. She has been eating this for 2+ years with no problem. So…. -Could she all of the sudden out of the blue become sensitive to her food. Either allergic or could it be too fatty to set off the pancreatitis? -Could there be something wrong with the food? Like a got a bad batch? This question is about an answer to "Why can't you give onions and grapes to a dog?" about 4 months ago. This one answer got a 'thumbs down'. Why? If you already know which of these foods listed are truly bad for a dog, will you please save me hours and hours of research trying to check which are true? I don't want to make my dog sick, but I don't want to spend my whole life researching every toxic thing on the planet instead of spending time with my family (dog included). If you are SURE you know, please tell me which on the list are incorrect? Please don't guess, as that is not helpful at all. Thanks very much, in advance, for your time and expertise! : ) Here's the answer that got no thumbs-up and one thumbs-down: 1. Onions (Both onions and garlic contain the toxic ingredient Thiosulphate. But onions are more of a danger. Many dog biscuits contain *small* amounts of garlic – garlic contains less of this toxin so huge amounts would need to be consumed to be toxic. And, by the way, this poison builds up the system – it can be toxic in one large dose – or with repeated consumption of small amounts.) 2. Chocolate (Chocolate contains Theobromine, a compound that is a cardiac stimulant and a diuretic. This can be fatal to dogs.) 3. Grapes (Grapes are dangerous because of an unknown substance which is toxic to dogs – affects canine’s kidneys) 4. Raisins (See above.) 5. Most Fruit Pits and Seeds (Contain Cyanogenic Glycosides resulting in cyanide poisoning – though the fruit itself is OK.) 6. Macadamia Nuts (Macadamia nuts contain an unknown substance that is toxic to dogs.) 7. Bones (Most bones should *not* be given (especially chicken bones) because they can splinter and cause laceration of the digestive system and/or become lodged in your pet’s throat – so they also pose a choking hazard.) Raw bones are generally fine, but Chicken wings poze a choking hazard to large dogs. 8. Potato Peelings and Green Potatoes (Contain Oxalates, which can affect the digestive, nervous, and urinary systems.) 9. Rhubarb leaves (See above.) 10. Broccoli (Broccoli is only toxic in large quantities.) 11. Green parts of Tomatoes or Green Potatoes (Contain oxalates, which can affect the digestive, nervous, and urinary systems.) 12. Yeast Dough (Yeast Dough can produce gas and swell in your pet’s stomach – leading to rupture of the digestive system) THey mean Yeast Dough-which us Uncooked Bread. Cooked in the oven, already causes the yeast to rise, so doesn't pose an issue 13. Coffee, Coffee Grounds, Tea, Soft Drinks (Coffee, tea, & most soft drinks are dangerous due to the caffeine.) 14. Beer/Wine/Alcohol of any kind (Alcohol of any kind could lead to coma or even death.) 15. Human Vitamins (Human vitamins, especially those containing iron, can cause damage to the lining of the digestive system as well as cause kidney and liver damage) 16. Moldy or Spoiled Food (I think this goes without saying.) 17. Persimmons (Persimmons can cause intestinal blockage) 18. Raw Eggs and Raw Fish (Raw eggs and some raw fish can cause Salmonella poisoning.) 19. Salt, Baking Soda, Baking Powder (In large amounts these can cause an electrolyte imbalance – and severe electrolyte imbalances can lead to muscle spasm or even congestive heart failure.) 20. Mushrooms (Mushrooms may contain toxins which could cause liver and kidney damage) 21. Sugar-Free Foods (Sugar-free foods containing Xylitol have been found to cause liver failure in some dogs.) 22. Nutmeg (Nutmeg can cause tremors, seizures, and central nervous system damage.) 23. Excessive Fatty Foods (Excess fatty foods can cause Pancreatitis.) 24. Avocado (All parts of the avocado and avocado tree are toxic to dogs.) 25. Diary Products (Dairy products don’t usually pose a great danger; but many dairy product have high fat content (see number 23) – and many pets are lactose intolerant – some pets more than others. Lactose intolerance leads to gas and diarrhea; though small amounts of yogurt and cheese are usually fairly well tolerated.) It took under a minute to post this question. This was not originally from one of my questions or answers. I was looking for information. I found this list as an answer to some else's question and wondered how inaccurate it really was. I know, it's long. That's why I'm asking experts to save myself research time. My dog had a lot of ham yesterday and was acting like she was in pain. We later found out that ham could do very serious damage so we took her to the emergency hospital. The vet took tests and she didn't have pancreatitis. She told us she would be fine and to take her home. Today, she is still acting very strange and looks like she is in pain. What can be wrong? Any suggestions on what to do? morePancreatitis And Dogs Search Results
