Resolved Question: Build myself a gaming PC OR Buy HP 390t with $500 discount?

Okay, I need help with deciding whether or not I should build a gaming PC or just buy it from HP with good $500 discount. Let me list different parts of my build vs HP build so all you people can help me on which one is better. My build: CPU: Intel Core i7 Extreme 980x, 3.33GHz (Six Core) 12000K CPU Fan: Intel Socket 1366 CPU fan Motherboard: ASUS Rampage III Extreme X58, DDR3, SLI & Cross Fire,SATA3, GB LAN, USB 3.0,iEEE RAM: 12GB (3x4GB) PC3 10600 DDR3 1333 Triple Channel Graphic Card: ATI Radeon HD 5970 2GB PCI Express 16x dual head DVI, HDMI Hard Drive: 1000.0GB Western Digital Green SATA2 UDMA 300 32m cache DVD: LG 22x DVD Recorder Dual Layer +R/RW -R/RW Case: Antec Twelve Hundred Black Case, Full Tower, Side Window, front USB & iEEE Power Supply: Antec TruePower Quattro 1000w Extra Quiet ATX Power Supply SLI & X-fire ready This come out about $3400 with shipping fees and taxes after I use price check with Tigerdirect.com and Newegg.com HP build: CPU: Intel Core i7 Extreme 980x, 3.33GHz (Six Core) 12000K CPU Fan: Intel Socket 1366 CPU fan Motherboard: Pegatron IPMTB-TK http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01901210&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us%E2%8C%A9=en&product=4#N825 RAM: 24GB DDR3-1066MHz SDRAM [6 DIMMs] Graphic Card: 1.8GB NVIDIA Geforce GTX 260 [2 DVI, HDMI and VGA adapters] Hard Drive: FREE UPGRADE! 1.5TB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive from 1TB DVD: Blu-ray player & Lightscribe SuperMulti DVD burner Network card: Wireless-N LAN card Media Card: 15-in-1 memory card reader, 1 USB, 1394, audio Case: HP case with dimension of 16.85"(L) x 7.05"(W) x 15.79"(H) Power Supply: 460 watts OP: Genuine Windows 7 Professional 64-bit This comes out around $3100 after taxes (free shipping). $2,902.99 before taxes (initial price $3,402.99 before $500 discount) As you can see HP build is cheaper than mine even though I have concerns in a few areas. First of all, their Power Supply is only at 460 watts so if I want to upgrade something in future, it will cost me more with building a new Power Supply. I don't know much about their motherboard so if someone knows about it, please help me explain. Another thing about is I can't get much information about their 1.8GB NVIDIA Geforce GTX 260. I know you can only buy 896 MB GTX 260 outside. I talked with HP live chat agent and he said 1.8GB GTX 260 is only made exclusively for HP 390t and you can't buy it outside. Well, beside these few points, I like HP build. I think my build has better motherboard, Graphic card, and power supply. It's more expensive. HP build has better RAM, more hard drive, better media card readers, and cheaper than my build. So which one should I go with? Thanks in advance for help. more

Resolved Question: Are my computer parts compatible?

Hi all, Building my first computer - a little experienced from upgrading the heck out of my old one. And I'm curious if all these parts will work together... Thanks for your help! I also am trying out the SSD drive since everyone says it's awesome. I don't need the best and I'm happy with my price point...but I'm open to suggestions. I already have my monitors, mouse, speakers, keyboard, OS. Summary: Main question - will everything work together? Second question - any equally/similarly priced upgrade suggestions? Last question - do I need any other supplies to get this thing working? Thanks so much!First off - thanks for the quick responses! Links to parts, as requested: video card - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102873 cpu - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103809&Tpk=phenom%202%2095w mobo - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157198 ssd - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227607 hdd - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136534 RAM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220435 psu - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139013 *note to first two posters - it was only 10$ more than the 850W, and i considered the 16x to 8x/8x drop but i'd read it doesn't create a huge difference unless i go to very high screen resolution - also I couldn't find a mobo within 50$ of this one that can do that...and thanks again!* more

Resolved Question: Breast feeding mothers.... I need some support and encouragement...?

After a fiasco of doctor's and ER visits, my 4-month-old was finally diagnosed with pneumonia last night. The high fever that she'd had for 48 hours spiked up to 104 and wouldn't come down no matter what, and after a simple chest x-ray they found the problem (why they didn't do that Monday when we had her in, I'll never understand). Anyway, I'm feeling pretty crappy as a mother - I thought breastfeeding was supposed to help prevent infections like this. Some of you may know I've gone through a lot to breastfeed this baby exclusively, and even I am amazed that I'm still hanging in there after 4 months. When I couldn't feed her directly I pumped to keep my supply, and when I could feed her I worked hard to get her back on the breast... which is where we are now, save for the occasional nursing strike. All things considered, it's going much better than I imagined it would. I really just want some validation - anything - to keep me going and remind me that this is the best thing for her. I've had about 5 hours of sleep in the past 3 days and I'm feeling quite vulnerable. Not that I'm considering quitting anytime soon, I just feels so awful. My first was formula fed and was *never* this sick as a baby. We don't know how the little one contracted the infection, but I guess all that's important now is that she gets over it. Thanks. ... :( more

Resolved Question: Having Jaw Issues accompanied by ear popping?

I posted a question not too long ago about my teeth and jaw hurting. This has gotten both worse and better. The pain from my teeth is gone, but now it resides in my jaw. Whenever I move my jaw right or left, it pops and cracks. I can't yawn or even open wide enough for a doctor to see in, because it hurts. I have seen the Oral Surgeon, and X-Rays were taken that day. They could find nothing wrong with my jaw, but he felt around inside my mouth and said I was having muscle spasms. That only helps my cheeks though. Before seeing the Oral Surgeon I had massive cheek and muscle pains, and my jaw. Now it's basically just my jaw. The Oral Surgeon said that if this doesn't take care of it then they'll have to break and reset my jaw, in which case it will have to be wired shut for six to eight weeks. I know that's the last possible option, but he's not giving my any others. First I thought it was TMJ or whatever it's called because sometimes it sounds like clicking or general popping. Both my jaw and my ear have been popping. I was on a two week supply of antibiotics to see if that would help with my jaw and ear too, but it hasn't. I guess I'm just asking this to see if anyone can tell me what's wrong, or offer some helpful advice? Sometimes it doesn't hurt, but when it does it gets pretty bad. Like..I can't chew anything even with the nineteen teeth I have left(I had seven removed), and I have a horrible under bite. I doubt both of those things have anything to do with why my jaw and ear is doing this, but I should mention one other thing. Sometimes when the pain happens, it shoots clear up the left and right sides of my head. Other times my jaw just feels like it's literally popping out of place and then back in. I can feel the popping in my gums..so I have no idea what that means. Can someone please offer me some advice, or solution perhaps? I know nothing can probably be done until I see the Oral Surgeon, but I don't go back to him until August third. I have a whole week or so to endure this jaw stuff, which only seems to be getting worse. The Muscle Relaxers and Pain Pills I'm on aren't even effecting me at all, other than reducing the pain I had in my cheeks. It's like everything only kills half the problems I'm having. Anyway back to the point. Advice or solutions anyone? more

Voting Question: Is this computer build compatible?

I was building this at cyberpowerpc.com and my main concerns are: Is the motherboard optimum for this system i.e. it's compatible with everything ((especially 2x video cards and the RAM)) or is there a better one that I should be using instead? I choose a mobo with CrossFireX capability but as of now I will only be using one graphics card and i'll be buying the second one later so on the option for multiple video card settings I selected Xtreme Performance in SLI/CrossFireX Gaming Mode Supports Single Monitor oppose to the single video card setting. Will this effect my computers display since I'll only be using one video card at first? Did I choose quality RAM or should I go up in GB/MHz? If you notice anything else please let me know and thanks for taking a look.Smile Configuration * CPU: AMD Phenom™II X6 1055T Six-Core CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology * HDD: 1TB SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 64MB Cache 7200RPM HDD (Single Hard Drive) * MOTHERBOARD: * GigaByte GA-890XA-UD3 AM3 AMD 790X Chipset Support CrossFireX DDR3 ATX w/ 7.1 HD Audio, GbLAN, IEEE1394, USB3.0, SATA-III, RAID, 2 Gen2 PCIe, 3 PCIe X1 & 2 PCI [+37] * MEMORY: 4GB (2GBx2) DDR3/1866MHz Dual Channel Memory Module [+102] (Corsair Dominator) * SOUND: HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO * VIDEO: ATI Radeon HD 5970 4GB GDDR5 16X PCIe Video Card [+890] (Major Brand Powered by ATI) * CD: Lite-On IHOS 104 4X Blu-Ray Player [+45] (BLACK COLOR) * CASE: * AZZA Solano 1000 Full-Tower Advance Cooling Case w/ Dual 230mm Fan + Extra 3 Fans [+44] * CS_FAN: Maximum Enermax 120MM Case Cooling Fans for selected case (Maximum Silent Operation) [+29] (1,000 RPM Black Color with No LED Enlobal Magnetic Barometric Bearing 17 dBA) * CPU: AMD Phenom™II X6 1055T Six-Core CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology * FAN: CyberPower Xtreme Hydro Liquid Cooling Kit 240MM w/ Dual Fan(CPU & GPU Liquid Cool Capable, Extreme Overclcking Performance + Extreme Slient at 18dBA) [+63] * FA_HDD: Vigor iSURF II Hard Disk Drive Cooling System [+21] (1 x System) * HDD: 1TB SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 64MB Cache 7200RPM HDD (Single Hard Drive) * MULTIVIEW: Xtreme Performance in SLI/CrossFireX Gaming Mode Supports Single Monitor * MOTHERBOARD: * GigaByte GA-890XA-UD3 AM3 AMD 790X Chipset Support CrossFireX DDR3 ATX w/ 7.1 HD Audio, GbLAN, IEEE1394, USB3.0, SATA-III, RAID, 2 Gen2 PCIe, 3 PCIe X1 & 2 PCI [+37] * MEMORY: 4GB (2GBx2) DDR3/1866MHz Dual Channel Memory Module [+102] (Corsair Dominator) * OS: Microsoft® Windows® 7 Home Premium [+104] (64-bit Edition) * POWERSUPPLY: 1,200 Watts - CoolerMaster Silent Pro Gold Power Supply (80+ Gold) [+203] * SOUND: HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO * TEMP: NZXT Sentry LX Aluminum High Performance Fan Control, Clock, & Temperature Display [+69] * VIDEO: ATI Radeon HD 5970 4GB GDDR5 16X PCIe Video Card [+890] (Major Brand Powered by ATI) * VIDEO2: None more

Resolved Question: Need advice from PC whiz!?

Hello, I just ordered some hardware online and bought locally my case and power supply. I made research online in order to make choice which suits my needs. So my question is, with the setup (below) do you think 1000W power is overkill? Should I need more fans to cool it? What if I put video card on tr-crossfire? What do you of the system overall? What should I keep in mind for upgrades? I am reluctant to get a full tower because of the weight and size. I need to be able to carry it easily or send it in a luggage or box in case I travel to another town for work. more

Resolved Question: Whats deference between Reptile heat bub Watts and Hertz?

I have a question concerning reptile supplies. I’ve been using a Exo-Terra red heat bulb along with a over tank heat lamp, its shown great quality and has caught my leopard geckos approval for over a year. That bulb has finally expired and I’ve had to temporary give my leo a UTH till I got money for another one. I found at wal-mart "what seams" to be a much cheaper brand compared to pets supplies. New bulb GE reptile rays Black light = 7.00$ compared to Exo-Terra red bulb = 15.00$ Ok here’s my main question can i use the GE black bulb in my heat lamp? its 60 Watts and the old one is 60 Hertz, whats the deference in these, and can the shape of the bulb effect its performance? I’m willing to buy the pricey one for the sake of my leos, I’m just wanting to be sure im not doing something that may cause a fire ect. Note: my first question, but surely not my last X) Yahoo community has helped me on many occasion from just viewing others questions. ...seemed there was no such question like mine though...so yeah that's why im here. Thanks in advance!I will likely keep her on Heat pad sence she has yet to change attitude. Thanks for the answer Madsnake,i too prefur pad over bulb from the start. i was sceamed into buying one by a pet store worker who made it sound criminal i wasnt using them. I wish the hermit crab pads were larger sence i was told they are best suited to leos. more

Resolved Question: World Health Organization pleads with Israel to allow aid?

From the U.N.: World Health Organization Hundreds of items of equipment have been waiting to enter Gaza for up to a year, procured by WHO and other organizations, says Mr Tony Laurance, head of WHO's office for Gaza and the West Bank. These items include CT scanners, x-rays, fluoroscopes, infusion pumps, medical sterilization gasses, laboratory equipment, UPS (uninterrupted power supply) batteries, and spare parts for support systems like elevatorMr. Richi: Israel turned over Gaza to the Palestinians in 2006 when Hamas won. They are a government in exile. Israel wont allow important items in so Gaza can have a strong economy. They cant leave their homeland because like Palestinians who are in other countries, they dont have welfare and no rights. they want to be free like everyone. Rockets are a response to the occupation and Israel's other provocative tactics. more

Voting Question: Always Feel heartbeat.Help!!!!!?

I am 19. Background:(1)When i was 11, i was hit in the head by a metal rod. After x-ray check it was ok then. (2)I went to Japan a few days later. The night i returned i felt very strange, when i was sleeping i suddenly feel my heart beat very heavy and my limbs couldn't move. Since then i feel the heartbeat all the time!!!!! Three years later i finally went to see doctor and my blood pressure was so high(180).They were shocked too and i had to stay to be monitored! They gave me a 24-hour blood pressure meter and my blood pressure was metered at around(126)(normal).They gave me some checks on my heart and it was normal. Once it was revealed that there was a tumor in my kidney but when the re-checked one showed nothing. So the doctors released me and said that i am just too nervous so i have high blood pressure when seeing doctors. And they said it's normal to feel heartbeat. But why don't i felt before i was 11? I wonder if it is really my nervous that causes me feeling heartbeat all the time or having high blood pressure ? I always see the blood vessels,my chest, belly, skin all arounf my body moving and beating. I also wonder if it has anything to do with the head injury when i was 11 or there really exists a tumor in the kidney so that adrendline supplying all the time. The problems worsen now and i always feel dizzy when walking upstair or in crowded area as the heart beats so heavily!!!! Help me!!! more

Resolved Question: proton proton collision?

in proton proton collision, the proton and proton will shatter into quarks and anti quarks. since the total amount of quarks is less than the 2 proton masses, where did the missing energy gone? also, since proton is comprised of quarks and antiquarks, it is possible to supply energy to the quarks and antiquarks and make them back into antiproton. given we know antiproton and proton will give out tremedeous x-ray.since antiproton comprised of antiquarks, then can we throw in some mesons or a soup of antiquarks to make antiproton? more

I started with a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131384 wrapped in http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Thermaltake+-+Soprano+Mid-Tower+Case+-+Black/8763126.p?id=1203815240653&skuId=8763126&st=thermaltake running 3 crucial 240 pin 1gb pc 5300 ram sticks, powered by a Thermaltake - 450-Watt ATX CPU Power Supply. The cpu is a AMD Athlon II X4 620 Propus 2.6GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Processor. cooled by a Thermaltake A4022 and the cases built in 120mm fan. it has a 250gb seagate drive And a NVIDIA GeForce 210 512MB DDR2 PCI Express Graphics Card. I know i have to upgrade my power supply to accommodate the upgrades that are pending so i`m gonna add a Thermal take 750W Power Supply I`m keeping the current hard drive and running it along side a 1tb Seagate Barracuda .The old ram sticks are gonna make way for 2x 4gb 240pin crucial ram sticks . I`m adding a Koutech IO-RCM621 multi reader . The old lg disc drive will be eighty sixed for a LG UH10LS20 blu ray combo drive if there is room i`m gonna add a Hauppauge 1850 tv tuner card . For gaming there will be a 20" HD Widescreen LCD Monitor from hp. Here is where i need help which of the following graphics cards should i use .http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5648419&csid=ITD&body=MAIN#detailspecs http://www.circuitcity.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5316155&csid=ITD&body=MAIN#detailspecs http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5637429&CatId=2306 In truth i`m gonna probably go with the Asus EAH5670 but i`m not sure if i have good judgement in video cards so my question is what will make this pc fail and what can i do to fix iti play city of heroes at the moment and that nvidia graphics card can`t handle max settingsthus far i have to thank everyone for their excellent advice . I will keep my 450w power supply i will go with the less expensive 2gb ram sicks over the two 4 gig sticks .i plan on keeping my old lg drive if and when i get a bluray drive . I`m gonna 86 the multi reader at least for now .seems like you all thought the 1tb hard drive was an okay idea good to know. mark that graphics card u recommended looks awesome if i run into 200 bucks i`ll be all over that but at the moment not willing to go over 160 for a graphics card not yet anyway also any card i get need vga or dsub more
