Resolved Question: Lucent Technologies: evaluate the asset, debt, and equity structure....?
This question is for Sandy on the Lucent Technologies. I never seem to be able to post the assignment with success. I will try one more time and perhaps this will work. My e-mail is niknkids@sbcglobal.net. Lucent Technologies: evaluate the asset, debt, and equity structure....? Executive Summary We design and deliver the systems, software and services that drive next-generation communications networks. Backed by Bell Labs research and development, we use our strengths in mobility, optical, access, data and voice networking technologies, as well as services, to create new revenue-generating opportunities for our customers, while enabling them to quickly deploy and better manage their networks. Our customer base includes communications service providers, governments and enterprises worldwide. We have three segments organized around the products and services we sell. The reportable segments are Integrated Network Solutions (“INS”), Mobility Solutions (“Mobility”) and Lucent Worldwide Services (“Services”). INS provides a broad range of software and wireline equipment related to voice networking (primarily consisting of switching products, which we sometimes refer to as convergence solutions, and voice messaging products), data and network management (primarily consisting of access and related data networking equipment and operating support software) and optical networking. Mobility provides software and wireless equipment to support radio access and core networks. Services provides deployment, maintenance, professional and managed services in support of both our product offerings as well as multi-vendor networks. Beginning in fiscal 2001, the global telecommunications market deteriorated, resulting from a decrease in the competitive local exchange carrier market and a significant reduction in capital spending by established service providers. This trend intensified during fiscal 2002 and continued into fiscal 2003. Reasons for the market deterioration included general economic slowdown, network overcapacity, customer bankruptcies, network build-out delays and limited availability of capital. We believe that the market for telecommunications equipment has stabilized and is starting to grow in certain areas. The growing demands of enterprises and consumers for additional services tailored to their needs is creating the need for a new convergence of networks, technologies and applications. Required 1. Using the Consolidated Balance Sheets for Lucent Technologies for September 30, 2004 and 2003, prepare a common-size balance sheet. 2. Evaluate the asset, debt, and equity structure of Lucent Technologies, as well as trends and changes found on the common-size balance sheet. 3. What concerns would investors and creditors have based on only this information? 4. What additional financial and nonfinancial information would investors and creditors need to make investing and lending decisions for Lucent Technologies? LUCENT TECHNOLOGIES INC. I did however find out that people that had Alienware M17x R2 were very pleased with how it worked and everything, but unfortunatly i couldnt find out if it was or not. I used this site http://www1.dell.com/ca/p/alienware-m17x/fs and i chose the last one (most expensive) im trying to figure out if i should get this or not after reading all the pro's and con's people had. forgive my grammer, i know its terrible :Pi do use cable connection and not wireless. Wireless is useful to me though becuase i will have a lot of non-online games as well as online multiplayer games. I do realize that i7 980x extreme 6-core is the fastest on earth right now but at the budget i have currently, i think this is what ill start with. i have a lot of time on my hands for the future so i think this is good enough for now. If i find anyhting better i might ask about it moreVoting Question: How do I get 10x or more equivalent out of DSLR Lens?
Please, please, please... DO NOT go into a huge explanation telling me the difference between zoom and focal length, how SLR's don't have X equivalent zoom, I KNOW THIS ALREADY. I go to three concerts per month and sometimes my seats are not good. I have a Panasonic Lumix with 10x optical and it gets me almost as close as I want to be, but figuring out what type of lens is complicated to me. I want to know if there is a way to get this close to the action using a DSLR without getting a lens that looks like a rocket launcher because many tickets to concerts say "no professional recording equipment or cameras" and I live in NYC and I'm not letting them hold a DSLR for 3 hours while I'm not around. I was looking into getting the new Canon T2i (and I'm interested in your opinion on comparable cameras but not any beef you may have with Canon) I want to ZOOM, so I am asking about ZOOM (only vocabulary I know for it) I don't want to do math, I don't want to understand how traditional photography works, I just want an answer and this is the third time I am trying to get it answered. How can I take a picture of Eddie Vedders face at a Pearl Jam concert from 200 feet away without carrying a bazooka sized telephoto lens? Are the micro four thirds cameras with interchangeable lenses any good for this? Which kinds? Which lenses? My friends dad has a Canon Rebel that we used at Paul McCartney at Citi Field and we got better shots than he did with the lens it came with, the thing was the size of a soda can and couldn't zoom worth a crap. I'm not a pro photog, I just want close up (or closer than I have been getting without noise and blur) for concerts. Thanks in advance moreResolved Question: Advantages of Optical Input/Outpit Cables?
I just recently found an Optical cable, and am curious as to what are it's advantages over the standard R/W/Y component cable (for PS3). What is the difference, and is there any other equipment required to use it? moreResolved Question: Can I hook up my Comcast HD cable box with an HDMI cable? And other Q's?
I am picking up the box tomorrow and installing it myself. A couple questions: 1) Can I hook it to my TV with an HDMI cable and just switch the input to HDMI, or do I have to use coaxial? My TV is 1080p native. 2) I forgot to ask the cable guy on the phone this question: will I get my local channels in HD as well as the cable channels that are available in HD, or do I need seperate equipment? 3) I have a speaker system that uses optical audio cables. Will I be able to plug that in directly to the cable box? Any help would be apprechiated! Thanks. moreResolved Question: How do you measure optical density?
Is there a common definition of optical density? What lab equipment could be used for optical density? Any other things to add about optical density would be excellent, thanks. moreResolved Question: Is there any proof that "nothing can surpass speed of light"?
i have seen lots of theories are based on the fact that nothing can go beyond the speed of light but is there any proof of this statement . Please dont reply that theory of relativity says that , i want to see a detailed proof. Its just that it is so difficult to assume such a statement without knowing the its origin. ANd if there are some particles that move faster than light , do we have equipments that can detect them,? (like if we use optical instruments or maybe electromagnetic radiation or even lasers to detect speed of some particals ,it wont be able to detect more than the speed of light as it is itself limited by the speed of light ). moreResolved Question: Lucent Technologies Management?

This might not be possible with the equipment we have, but we have just got a PS3, are awaiting delivery of a new plasma TV, have a Wii, Virgin Cable & an older DVD with surround sound. The SS system has a scart input, but no optical or HDMI slots. This is currently connected directly to the TV, and continues to play the TV audio if left on when we play the Wii, so has to be turned off. Is there any way the surround sound can be used with our games consoles (particularly PS3)?This is great news, thanks. Hello, I have an LG TV, My Xbox, DVD player and sky box all plug into my TV. I have then connected the TV to my Rotel via Optical this translates to Video 4 on the processor. The problem is I only have two speakers - I have connected my Rotel to my amp using the two Front R and Front L connectors. When I press the 2ch button on the front of my RSP-1068 it sounds perfect on my system. The problem is as soon as I change the channel or the input on my TV the processor defaults back to Dolby and I have to press 2CH again. Is there a way of setting this as the default so I don’t have to press it every time I do something on my TV? I tried to look through the menu but to be honest I can’t even get that to appear. I have clicked menu on my remote but nothing appears on the Rotel and it just says empty on the screen of the remote? I’m pretty new to this and I know my setup isn’t utilising the Rotel to its full capacity but this is just a temporary setup until I have enough money to get all of my equipment sorted. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks moreResolved Question: Is Canon 450D a good camera for Architectural & Travel Photography?
Hi, I am planning to buy a Canon 450D with 18-55 & 55-250 lenses in one kit. Currently I use an Olympus digital camera (6 Mega pixel with 10x optical zoom) and have taken images as seen in this link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/koththi/page4. What I need to find out is this: 1. Considering only the equipment (and not the photographer) would the Canon 450D allow for much more quality in photos? 2. Is this Camera+Lense KIT suitable for my use? I will mostly take Architectural Photos of my own projects plus travel photography. 3. This Kit is available for US$ 1170 (With bag & 2GB card) 4. I assume eventually when I learn more about this vast subject, this camera will aloow me to take better photos than my Olympus. Any comments on this? moreResolved Question: Evaluate the asset, debt, and equity structure of Lucent Technologies?

Yes i am a begginer and i havent seen through a telescope yet, i was gunna join clubs but then i found out the nearest one was 5 hours away, i dont want to really get a telescope what i wont be able to see out of and enjoy, Also im interested in Orion StarBlast 6 Astro ReflectorTelescope Fun, user-friendly telescope design lets beginning astronomers and seasoned hobbyists navigate the night sky with ease Big 150mm (5.9") parabolic mirror optics reveal the moon, planets and deep-sky objects in rich detail. Compact and highly portable; weighs only 23.5 lbs. and has built-in carrying handles in the base. Sturdy swivel base comes pre-assembled in the box for no-hassle set-up. Includes 25mm and 10mm Sirius Plossl eyepieces, EZ Finder II aiming device, and eyepiece rack. Our Orion StarBlast 6 Astro Reflector Telescope exemplifies the perfect combination of well-rounded performance and convenient portability. Whether you're looking for a versatile introductory instrument to begin a long-term love affair with the heavens, or have a hankering for adding a compact, wide-field, user-friendly reflector telescope to your growing collection of equipment, the StarBlast 6 will not disappoint. It doesn't take a rocket-scientist to appreciate the amazing value of the StarBlast 6. Any amateur astronomer will tell you that reflector design telescopes provide the best performance for your investment, or best "bang for your buck". And since the StarBlast 6 doesn't employ the use of a complicated and heavy equatorial mount and tripod, the value looks better and better upon further inspection, much like the view through its robust 6" aperture optical tube. Speaking of views, you'll be the one telling friends and family about gorgeous lunar explorations of the Moon, jaw-dropping sights of close by Mars, giant Jupiter, and the always impressive Saturn with its stupendous rings. But the fun doesn't stop there. The StarBlast 6 Astro Telescope's substantial 5.9" (150mm) aperture parabolic reflector optics gathers oodles of light from objects well beyond our own solar system. Bright galaxies, mind-boggling globular and picturesque open star clusters, ethereal glowing nebulas, and other celestial denizens are well within reach. With a wide-field focal ratio of f/5.0, finding and tracking objects is easier than with longer focal-length telescopes, which makes stargazing nice and easy for beginners. More advanced hobbyists will welcome the intuitive simplicity of this "grab-and-go" astronomical workhorse. Teflon bearings and easily adjustable altitude tension on the base ensure smooth maneuvering of the Orion StarBlast 6. You just sight through the included EZ Finder II reflex aiming device to locate the object you want to view, then grip the convenient navigation knob on the tube to take aim. Pop the 25mm (30x) or 10mm (75x) Sirius Plössl telescope eyepiece into the 1.25" rack-and-pinion focuser and you're ready to enjoy the wonders of the night sky. Keep the other eyepiece(s) at the ready in the convenient three-hole eyepiece rack. Two handle cutouts in the base allow easy lifting and transporting of the telescope. Set it on the ground or even on a small table or the hood of your car, then prepare to be stunned by the view! Weighing in at a modest 23.5lbs., the assembled StarBlast 6 is portable enough to take along on the next family campout or friend-filled road-trip, without wasting valuable space for the rest of your gear. The StarBlast base arrives pre-assembled in the box providing a truly satisfying out of box experience that won't find you scouring assembly instructions trying to locate tab A and slot B. The Orion StarBlast 6 Astro Telescope isn't just a masterfully engineered, uncomplicated, and affordable telescope for all ages, it's also a blast! (C'mon, we couldn't help ourselves!) Beginning in fiscal 2001, the global telecommunications market deteriorated, resulting from a decrease in the competitive local exchange carrier market and a significant reduction in capital spending by established service providers. This trend intensified during fiscal 2002 and continued into fiscal 2003. Reasons for the market deterioration included general economic slowdown, network overcapacity, customer bankruptcies, network build-out delays and limited availability of capital. Hello all, i have just been shopping for my bedroom, i have just purchased an amazing panasonic 50 inch plasma tv set (hasnt been delivered yet) as well as a surround sound home cinema system (hasnt been delivered yet) and i have an i box 360 and 56 games and sky TV and im getting a playstation 3 (Havent got it yet). Im getting all this accept the 360 in 3 days time. I am going full HD and plan on using all 3 HDMI ports for full 1080 P high definition visuals wherever possible. However with my surround sound im not sure how i would hook all my systems to the surround sound (X box 360, ps3, sky satellite tv) all at 1 time....I was hoping t use optical for my audio..Will there be 3 optical inputs on different channels on the amp? Will i have to use different cables? Should i use another type or input/cable for digital 'hd' quality 5.1 surround sound? Should i just plug/unplug my equipment when i use it? (This could be time consuming and not practical). How would you hook the satellite tv/360/ps3 up all at once for HD sound with all optical or something of this standard. (not the red and white connectors i currently use on my scart) - i want full HD and digital surround sound on all my equipment (ps3 , 360, sky). I wouldnt expect an accurate answer unless i told you what surround sound systen im getting - its a Panasonic SC-PT170EB Its not top of the line but it runs dolby pro logic 2 and im hoping it can get the job done. I am sorry if the questions a little long winded guys, I just had to explain myself properly so youd understand me. (I hate dumb @sses who dont explain their question properly). This is a deadly combination, should Janet and obama be more concerned with border issues because of this? Secret Army Report: Drug Cartels, Terrorists Join Forces to Infiltrate U.S. Friday, June 5, 2009 6:53 PM By: Nat Helms A secret intelligence mission recently conducted along the southern border of the United States found that drug cartels are teaming with terrorists to exploit the numerous vulnerabilities along the sparsely defended 2,000-mile Mexican border. The mission, dubbed Operation Red Zone was conducted in February and March by the Army’s Asymmetrical Warfare Group (AWG). The clandestine intelligence gathering organization is a 350-member “special mission unit” that works to “identify critical threats and enemy and friendly vulnerabilities through global first-hand observations,” the Army says. The group is based at Ft. Meade, Maryland, also home to the National Security Agency. Red Zone investigators discovered numerous alien smuggling and drug trafficking operations along the border. Perpetrators are using “maritime surface craft, semi-submersible watercraft, ultra-light aircraft and possess the capability [to] utilize other potential aerial infiltration techniques to circumvent ground border protection capabilities,” according to Asymmetric Observations Along the U.S.- Mexican Border released May 14 by the Army to federal and state law enforcement agencies. “The AWG served as observers to advise the Border Patrol, Coast Guard and local law enforcement. During the operation AWG personnel were not authorized to enter Mexican territory and none were armed,” Donald Cicotte, spokesman for the AWG at Ft. Meade tells Newsmax. After the mission was completed, AWG personnel prepared a classified report for the Department of Defense. A “cleansed” version, like the one viewed by Newsmax, was sent to civilian law enforcement agencies “Obviously we don’t want to lose control of this [report,]” CiCotte adds. “We obviously don’t want to tell the bad guys what we know.” Operating behind the scenes on the project was Joint Task Force – North (JTF-N), a joint-service command headed by Army Brig. Gen. Sean B. McFarland. The 180-member task force helps local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies plan and coordinate activities to thwart drug cartels, human smugglers, and other emerging threats, JTF-N spokesman Armando Carrasco tells Newsmax. In this instance the U.S. Customs and Border Protection in the San Diego area requested assistance identifying new threats and the AWG was recruited, he said. “We don’t have any resources of our own. We don’t have heavy equipment or helicopters. For instance we can’t call up an engineer battalion to build a road. We solicit units from all the services equipped with what we need and asked them for help,” Carrasco said. “We have three JAG attorneys that ensure we are legally authorized to perform the mission. The lawyers spell out in briefings to each unit that they cannot be deployed in a law enforcement role.” Militarty theorists define assymetrical threats as strategies and tactics used by ill-equipped terrorists and criminals to circumvent sophisticated defenses of more powerful governments. Common examples include clandestine cross-border infiltration, smuggling, and defeating sophisticated electronics and optical sensors with simple counter-measures. During the operation, the AWG worked with the Department of Homeland Security and state and local law enforcement in the San Diego area to “observe asymmetric infiltration operations and emerging asymmetric threats.” The Army investigators discovered that drug traffickers and smugglers are employing “exceptional surveillance and counter-surveillance capabilities, robust technical communications capabilities as well as effective marking and signaling techniques to facilitate smuggling of illegal personnel and illicit cargo into the United States,” the report says. Some of the aliens are suspected of being terrorists from Middle Eastern countries sneaking into the country by employing drug smugglers skilled in transporting human cargo into the United States, the report adds. Few of the tactics employed by the border busters appear sinister at first glance. In one example, the AWG reported seeing a woman setting up a road-side tamale stand on the south-side of the primary border fence. Upon investigation it was found that her car was parked pointing toward “known fence breach points” as a signal to border jumpers. Other seemingly innocent activities observed by the intelligence operatives revealed drug trafficking and “alien smuggling spotters” using taxis and other legitimate businesses located on the U.S. side of the border to monitor and report Border Patrol activities to criminals who pay them with drug proceeds. http://www.newsmax.com/headlines/mexico_border_fence/2009/06/05/222148.html There is more to the story but too long to post who moreResolved Question: Which computer is better in specifications?

Feed back anyone?
Its about three girls and is written in third person in alternating points of view between the three girls. this is a little bit from the each of the girls in the begining. Ariel knelt down beside the spring. It bubbled up out of the ground only to slip back into another opening right beside it. There was something funny about it. She just knew it. It looked alright (excuse the very lively color grass around it, but that she attributed to that fact that it was the closest water in at least a mile) and smelled alright. It didn’t sound out of the ordinary, but something in her gut told her that something about it was seriously wrong. And something else told her to take a big drink. “Not yet,” she whispered out loud. “Not yet.” She removed her water bottle from her backpack, drained it, and filled it with the spring water, careful not to touch it. After drying it on her jeans, she shoved it back into her backpack and ran home. The spring in the middle of the woods gave her the chills. At school the next day she went to talk to her bio teacher. “Um…I was wondering if I could run a little test with some…pond water from my house. I doubt nothing important will be in it, but my parents have been obsessing about the algae. They think it may be a harmful species and I wanted to prove them wrong. Would it be alright if I came in at lunch and used the equipment? I promise to leave everything the way I found it.” The lie was easier to tell than she thought it would be. “Sure,” the teacher said generously. “Tell me if you find anything. I’m curious. Not many students actually want to use the equipment out of class. You should look into a career that involves biological investigation. It might suit you.” She smiled and nodded. “Thank you,” Ariel laughed nervously. That had been so easy! She was sure the teacher would have required her to write up a report. If everyone was bought so easily life would be grand. With a last smile she hurried to her next class. When lunch came around she rushed back to the bio lab and set the microscope at her bench. Quickly she got a slide and placed one eyedropper full of the water in the middle. Her heartbeat quickened as she slowly slid it beneath the lens. The dark brown haired girl held her breath as she moved her ever changing eye, currently at amber ored green, over the optical(?). What she actually frightened her a little. It wasn’t anything like regular spring water, or any water for that matter. It was…shiny. She could almost see things moving in it. After a rapid glance at her surroundings, she put the microscope at the next setting. She focused it and looked again. “Red and blue?” she muttered. Sure enough, the colors sparkled in the water. Where the lights were coming from, she had no clue, but was now determined to discover. Ariel carefully moved to the next setting. She was almost tempted to write her findings down, afraid she would lose them, but wasn’t stupid enough to leave the secrets to her special water on paper. No, they would stay in here head, safe and sound. What she found here that was so amazing was that she could plainly see small objects moving in some sort of current. Using very precise movements, she removed the cover slide, and sterilized a loop then it to scrape one object off. It proved quite difficult and required many attempts, but at last she was slapping it onto another slide. Knowing exactly what she wanted to see, she oiled the cover slide and slipped it back into place. Ever so carefully, she set the microscope at the 100X setting, so in-depth that the lens actually touched the cover slide (hence the oil). “Crystals,” she whispered after a moment or two. She was right, she knew it. That very same sense that had told her something about the spring was wrong was telling her the object was a crystal now. The bell rang. Hastily, she swiped the water on both slides back into the bottle (she wasn’t about to dump it down the drain where it could seep into the cities water supply, that special sense of hers screamed that that was a extremely bad idea), threw them away, stashed the microscope on the shelf, and ran to art. Brie slouched in her seat. This school was so boring! She wished she were somewhere else. Why couldn’t people just...click back and forth between places? It would make thing so easy! If she could do that, then she could go from her mom’s house to her dad’s house in seconds, then click on over to Ariel’s house to hang out. She missed Ariel so much. Going to school about a hundred miles apart wasn’t working out. She was too lonely and miserable. Sigh. “Alright everyone, come up here and collect the supplies for this week’s project,” the teacher drawled. He didn’t seem to like the class any more than Brie herself. “Doncha loooove wood?” asked the kid who sat in front of her as he rose. “Absolutely. I also love cauliflower, beets, and raw chicken,” she teased. It would also be nice if she could make t moreResolved Question: The Following is an excerpt Lucent Technologies Management?
