Voting Question: Abusive Mother who is Aging and still Abusive?

I was adopted and made to work on a farm. I was the only child. Growing up all I heard was that I was taking food out of their mouth, that I would be sent back if I didn't behave and do the work I was told to. They always borrowed farm equipment and didn't pay their bills for a year. As soon as I was old enough, I started buying junk farm equipment to fix so they would quit borrowing stuff. Over the years, I had to buy them furniture, ac units, and spent tens of thousand of dollars bailing hay for them for free and keeping them supplied in equipment. I finally got married at 40 and my mother did everything she could to stop it. The land I was promised after working the place all those years was withheld. They wouldn't even give me 1 acre to build a house on. They were in their 70's when I married so I just shrugged and said keep everything and left and bought my own land in the community. 15 years have passed and she complains to everyone in the small community about us and how she lives alone. We got her a $7,000 grant to fix her house, got her a medical alert button, arranged to have meds delivered to her house and a government van that will pick her up and take her to doctor appointments or grocery store. She _itches to everyone that will listen how we don't help her. My wife is the one that arranged all this help for her. We are paying off our land and house and can't take off to take her to appointments when their is transportation. Now, I am sick with stage 4 cancer, I don't have long to live, and she goes weeks without calling how I am. Now she is bitching at my wife for not telling her I was in the hospital. I have been hospitalized at least 9 times in the past 2 years. She has been told I am getting worse and to call more often if she wants to know how I am doing. My wife is either travelling to the hospital or nursing me at home or taking me to doctors appointments. My wife has told her she needs to call more often, that things are changing rapidly. She has not called and I am mad she is bitching at my wife, who has a full plate. With the abuse I endured as a child, I don't have much love for this woman and figure if she can't call, its no loss to me. But she is using the situation to get attention. She lives 10 minutes from me but won't visit. But now she is telling relatives and friends in this small community my wife is keeping her from visiting. I had it out with my mother and told her if she wants to know how I'm doing, just call. She claims it is too hard to call in the evenings and she forgets in the morning. Now she has a relative that wants to take her to come visit me in the hospital and I told them to wait till I get home. The relative is pissed at me for being mean to my mom. My mom puts on an act to get attention. In the past people were fooled by her act and helped her, only to hear thru a third party her complaints about them. One lady took her to the doctor, got her meds, took her to lunch, but made the"mistake" at stopping at HEB for a few groceries for herself. My mom complained to everyone, now that lady doesn't come around. My wife use to help her alot too but got tired of the complaining. We lost our business when I got sick, sold most of our farm equipment, and are holding on by the skin of our teeth to our house. This last incident has made me really bitter towards my Mom. I'm not well enough to protect my wife from this abuse that I put up with for too long. ANY IDEAS HOW TO PUT A STOP TO THIS? more

Resolved Question: DO WE NEED TO SHIFT TO O2 REPRODUCTION THAN CARBON EMISSION REDUCTION?

FOLLOWING IS AN EXCERPT FROM A LETTER SENT BY THE AUTHOR TO SOME 30 FOREIGN COUNTRIES THRU THE EMBASSIES IN THE PHILIPPINES ON JULY 30, 2007 AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER IT, IS THE COMMENT OF LINLYONS (A SCIENTIST REPLIER IN YAHOO'S QUESTION & ANSWER) ON JUNE 1, 2009. Unknowingly, the world has been increasing the 'rate of respiration' (decomposition) and has been reducing 'the rate of photosynthesis' and therefore, UNEP failed to analyze deeply the root cause in the environment. This means that nature is not producing enough supply of O2. If we study all the disasters & phenomena in climate change, main repercussion of global warming, these have a common denominator, i.e., O2 deficiency. To give you a better understanding why we need immediate replenishment of O2 when shortage of this gas occurs, the following concerns (which are not unfamiliar to all scientists, be they medical practitioners, veterinarians, physicists, chemists, biologists, agriculturists, climatologists, meteorologists, soil scientists, foresters, etc.) are presented, among others: 1. it needs 2 moles of O2 to instantly neutralize CH4 (methane) in seconds (to form CO2 & 2 molecules of H20) which, according to scientists in 2007, higher levels have been staying for 12 years in the atmosphere (purpose: to reduce trapped GHG, larger O2 production is necessary); 2. it needs 6 moles of O2 to form O3 (ozone) in the stratosphere which, according to WMO, the 3rd largest O3 hole appeared in 2005 measuring about 25 million sq. kms. in area (purpose: to reduce extreme solar radiation & prevent another hole, larger O2 production is necessary to fill up those hole spaces); 3. we need O2 to heal man's wounds & ailments faster (purpose: to prevent epidemic by strengthening our immune system & resistance vs. invading pathogens, infectious diseases, deadly toxins, sudden death); 4. we need an abundance of O2 to lower heat & cool earth's surface (land, air & sea) against disasters of climate change, the repercussion of global warming. 5. etcetera, etcetera. If O2 is then needed to eradicate warming & normalize climate, the world's aim in reducing carbon emission (Kyoto Protocol) is definitely false. Even if reduction by 50% from transportation & industries will succeed (which will definitely cause Great Depression), decay microbes remain to be the root of warming, defeating photosynthesis. Planting forest is already too late. At extreme heat, the stomata will shut down bet. 10am to 3pm or wild fires will occur & hence, no O2 production. At heavy storms, on the other hand, plants felled or inundated & hence, no O2 production will ensue. It would be possible that the survey of 60% desertification (as of 2004) has already gone up todate, say 70%. The higher it goes, people will die without O2 supply from photosynthesis. Per author's 4th letter to some 30 countries via embassies dated 02-13-07, they were informed that the world is misled & misdirected. Warming is not man-made but UN-made. And thus, the vision of Daniel is real, meant to save & protect people (in time which God has set it now to be known & revealed before it is too late) and to stop worldwide deception in sciences (brainwashed) and blunders by world leaders & rulers (faults in managing earth). FOLLOWING IS THE COMMENT OF LINLYON (http://www.rsbs.anu.edu.au/O2/O2_2_Atmos…) TO WINSTON KAYANAN'S OPINION, VOTED AS THE BEST ANSWER ON JUNE 1, 2009 Source(s): while i don't like using a blog as a reference, this one is rather well written. http://blogcritics.org/scitech/article/a… more

Resolved Question: The Benefits of Fasting - Body, Mind and Soul?

Would like to talk about the infinite benefits of fasting. There is no doubt that the benefits are endless. I would like to point out the many that are very fascinating. Self-Restraint Self-Restraint BY fasting and practicing self-restraint we are exercising the will power, which if intelligently used can take us to great heights. It's our conscious will through which we chose the things we chose to do and accept the thoughts we intend to submerge into our subconscious. Quote: 2:183 O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that ye may (learn) self-restraint Quote: 2:184 (Fasting) for a fixed number of days; but if any of you is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed number (Should be made up) from days later. For those who can do it (With hardship), is a ransom, the feeding of one that is indigent. But he that will give more, of his own free will,- it is better for him. And it is better for you that ye fast, if ye only knew. The spiritual benefits of fasting are endless. We get close to the Omnipotent power that is the source of all Health, Wealth, Love and all Goodness [Rehmat] that exists. The feeling of peace and serenity that we get when are close to Allah are if anything blissful and beyond words. But what about the physical benefits? There are many fascinating facts. One amazing of such benefits is this: Quote: Abnormal growths within the body, tumors and the like, do not have the full support of the body's supplies and therefore are more susceptible to autolysis. Quote: Due to the lack of incoming energy, the body must turn to its own resources, a function called autolysis. Autolysis is the breaking down of fat stores in the body in order to produce energy. During fast the Billions of dollars are spent on curing cancers, tumors and other diseases that have their root causes due to the energy imbalance in the body. But by fasting we are preventing these things from arising in the first place. After a lot of wear of tear during the year, our bodies need a much needed rest not to mention mental rest as well as worshiping leads us towards inner peace, which if archived will dramatically turn your life around. In addition, fasting allows speedy detoxification of the body, keep in mind that toxins are the root causes of endless disease. The miraculous benefits are endless, I leave it to you to read them from the link below. http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/exchange/node/1834 No next time you are fasting, just realize that what a deeply spiritual thing you are doing and what great benefits it as for you, surely Allah was right when he said that fasting is better for you, only if you knew, thanks to medical research, spiritual healing now do know. more

Voting Question: How to promote training courses on survival in the Amazon, a river cruiser and a travel agency in Internet?

I need to promote four (4) specialized products and I require advice from people with experience in online marketing and those people that are responsible for the area of promotion, marketing or sales of travel agencies and tourism companies that offer survival courses and cruises. This company is located in Iquitos, an exotic city in the middle of the Peruvian Amazon, one of the least explored and most bio-diverse area in the world. The products I have to help to promote are: 1. Training courses on survival in the Amazon jungle, for companies or adventure travelers. 2. Visits to remote indigenous communities that preserve their customs, for anyone interested. 3. Research or study trips in the Peruvian Amazon, for researchers, students and anyone interested. 4. Travel by river cruises along the Amazon river and tributaries or cruises in Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve (the largest reserve in the floodable Amazon jungle in South America). These are quality products. The company respect and teach the travelers to respect the nature. They take medical help or supplies to river communities and indigenous tribes they visit. Trips are designed to understand the nature and their ecosystems. This company works with professional and specialized staff as naturalists and, in case of survival training courses, with instructors of the Air Force. The company weakness is the international promotion and that is my challenge. I have had successful experiences in promoting hotels. But I never promoted this type of product. Therefore, I have several questions: A. Where or in what ways should I promote these four products? B. What websites, especially free of charge, you known to promote these products? In hotels, for example, there are sites like Tripadvisor and others. C. Do you know websites and forums that are focused on "selling" the four travel products I have? D. What social networks focused on these products are available? I know that there are Facebook, Twiter, Flirck, but, do you know any social network for adventure travelers or interested in this kind of trips? E. I was considering using the Lonely Planet, Viajeros and Losviajeros forums. Do you know others forums or specialized forums? Regardless of language. F. Does anyone could help me with the contact details of publishers of travel guides (Lonely, Frommers, Footprints, etc.)? G. I was thinking in contact with TV and film producers or film makers to promote the services of the company and be a strategic partners for films in the Amazon. Where and how I may contact with big producers companies as Discovery, NatGeo, BBC, etc., and with small producers? Do you have any other recommendation? more

Voting Question: If a large volume of fluid has shifted from the blood into the peritoneal cavity HOW...?

QUESTION: If a large volume of fluid has shifted from the blood into the peritoneal cavity how would this affect blood volume and hematocrit? Im not sure and I just used my textbook as my resource and with what information it supplied. My answer: there will be a decrease in blood volume because the fluid is shifting to the peritoneal cavity due to the infection because the body needs to dilute the toxins out. THe hematocrit (Blood volume of RBC?) would increase due to the elevation of plasma proteins which increases the ESR rate? Can someone please explain it to me in simple terms and no medical jargon. more

Resolved Question: When Israel sends in about 100 trucks into Gaza Daily with Food, Medical Supplies & other necessities?

Who is paying for this Which Hard Working Tax Payers (from which country) are sponsoring the Hamas terrorists who shoot Kassam Missiles into Green Line Israel. Do the Hard Working income tax payers (of europe & UN countries) (of the countries that pay for the 100 trucks that go in to Gaza Daily with Food, Medical Supplies & other necessities) know that their hard earned income tax money is being used to help sponsor the Hamas Palestinian Terrorists who shoot Kasam Rocket in to Green line Israel daily. more

Resolved Question: What do you think of this poem from Irish times?

What Is Not Allowed to enter Gaza; No tinned meat is allowed, no tomato paste, no clothing, no shoes, no notebooks. These will be stored in our warehouses at Kerem Shalom until further notice. Bananas, apples, and persimmons are allowed into Gaza, peaches and dates, and now macaroni (after the American Senator’s visit). These are vital for daily sustenance. But no apricots, no plums, no grapes, no avocados, no jam. These are luxuries and are not allowed. Paper for textbooks is not allowed. The terrorists could use it to print seditious material. And why do you need textbooks now that your schools are rubble? No steel is allowed, no building supplies, no plastic pipe. These the terrorists could use to launch rockets against us. Pumpkins and carrots you may have, but no delicacies, no cherries, no pomegranates, no watermelon, no onions, no chocolate. We have a list of three dozen items that are allowed, but we are not obliged to disclose its contents. This is the decision arrived at by Colonel Levi, Colonel Rosenzweig, and Colonel Segal. Our motto: ‘No prosperity, no development, no humanitarian crisis.’ You may fish in the Mediterranean, but only as far as three km from shore. Beyond that and we open fire. It is a great pity the waters are polluted – twenty million gallons of raw sewage dumped into the sea every day is the figure given. Our rockets struck the sewage treatments plants, and at this point spare parts to repair them are not allowed. As long as Hamas threatens us, no cement is allowed, no glass, no medical equipment. We are watching you from our pilotless drones as you cook your sparse meals over open fires and bed down in the ruins of houses destroyed by tank shells. And if your children can’t sleep, missing the ones who were killed in our incursion, or cry out in the night, or wet their beds in your makeshift refugee tents, or scream, feeling pain in their amputated limbs – that’s the price you pay for harbouring terrorists. God gave us this land. A land without a people for a people without a land.http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/opinion/2010/0605/1224271903842.html more

Resolved Question: If I do not attend directions hearing - ask for another day - what happens?

He is the applicant father, 11 convictionc for violence, requesting access. He put me in a refuge through beating and harrassment when I was pregnant and now seeks access. I say letter box xocontact only - the psychiatric assessment said it would be detrimental to my health (I had bad post natal depression, and must be kept stress free and not threatened...esp. by the father!) I received 2 days notice to attend directions hearing. I cannot attend, I have a prebooked family reunion. The father has abused the legal process, not provided medical evidence for psychiatric assessment, criminal record - even his statement, yet he has pushed for directions... he has seemingly used the process to find out about me, as he thretened during pregnancy "I am going to find out all about you, and you'll still know f all about me!" What is a valid reason for not attending? I simply cannot attend at such short notice. As he has disobeyed court orders to supply information, what can be done? Can I refuse to attend directions until he complies with the orders t ogive evidence?I only knew him 8 weeks before falling pregnant. I have no convictions, I am a good, well educated person and knew nothing of his past whe I met him... or up until he hit me. It is only recently I found out the natiness of this man's nature in fact. Please, only UK answers. Hoping from people who understand the idiosyncrasies and finer elements of the UK legal system please anser. This is not US law. We operate very differently in the UK. Thanks. And as this is a legal forum question, please, only answers to the relevant legal facts - not about the social rights or wrongs in our short relationship! As its only directions it should only be about 20minutes long, is that right? Hi yes I have legal advice, but I received the letter yesterday and as worried, wanted to get the low down before I see her next week. Stops the worry if I can do a bit of research first! The father refuses to pay maintenence - at first he said "just tell them he was a gypsy and I don't know where he is, and that he would refuse saying my son is not actually his... He never paid a penny. Thirdly, in response to the first respondents answer..although this has nothing to do with the law, the morning after pill failed, following a broken condom.I will attend, take time away from my family. I have a barrister already booked for the session.Du Tracey I have legal advice tomorrow, I am just looking for answers today so I can fully understand the options open. more

Resolved Question: Is it true that Israel sends 15,000 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza weekly?

It is my understanding that truckloads of fish, poultry, meat, milk and dairy products, vegetables, fruits, baby food, flour, medical supplies, building supplies (except those which can be used to fortify bunkers), and other supplies are shipped to Gaza daily, amounting to 15,000 tons of humanitarian aid in a typical week. So what is the necessity and urgency of the so-called humanitarian aid flotilla? more

Resolved Question: What do you think of my book so far?

Lightning flashed in the ocean of grey clouds, followed by the clashing of thunder. Flower screamed and burried herself in her mothers fur, terrified by the sounds of the approaching storm. Raindrops drummed on the roof of the cave, the sounds drowning out her cries of horror as the flashing of light and the crackling of thunder numbed her senses. Shivering from a sudden gust of freezing air that entered their cave, she felt her mothers soft wing move gently over her back to give Flower warmth. "Don't worry," Rose said in a calming tone. "This will all be over soon." Lightning flickered, displaying an event of dancing shadows along the caves walls, if only for a moment. Thunder roared almost immediately after it. Flower whimpered softly at the terrible noise. "Shh...," Rose whispered, "Listen." Flower quieted and listened. She heared nothing but the rain. But that was what her mother wanted her to hear. "Do you hear it?" "Hear what, mother?" "The rain. It plays a song, does it not?" "What do you mean?" Rose didn't answer. Her calm gaze rested on the falling raindrops. Flower, too, watched them as they splashed onto the flooded earth. Rose closed her eyes and hummed a song in her soft voice, along with the showering rain. The soothing melody soon put Flower to sleep, and after Rose finished the song, fell asleep herself. The sun shown bright over the horizon. Flower slowly opened her eyes, looking out of the cave where she and her mother had took shelter the night before. Rose was asleep beside her, her beathing quiet. Better not wake her, Flower thought to herself as she headed out of the cave. She shook the dead moss from her fur, sending her long white mane back and forth. She felt filthy after her night on the cold wet floor, and she got on her back and rolled on the damp grass. She breathed in the hot air and observed the remains of last nights storm. A cool breeze interrupted the still air and she lifted her wings to feel it seep in between the feathers. "Flower? Flower!" Rose called from inside the cave. Flower galloped over to her mother and nudged her to show that she was there with her. Rose sighed with relief and returned the nudge. She stood up and flexed her wings and limbs in turn. "Mother?" Flower asked with pleading eyes. Her mother looked at her. "Do we really have to go?" Rose sighed and simply nodded. The trip was far, she knew, and they haven't yet traveled even a quarter of the way. They had left their herd just weeks before the storm in search of help from the North. "We need the medical supplies from the Northern section of the forest in order to restore health to our people," her mother explained. "But what about all of those things you said about them?" Flower reasoned, "That even a cub of there kind had the strength to kill one of us?" "Just because they have it doesn't mean they will use it," Rose replied. "And besides that, we shall get permission from there pack leader to borrow some of their supplies. I'm sure they wouldn't mind." "Mother?" Flower asked. "Yes?" Rose replied in the same tune. "How much further is it?" Rose laughed as she always did when her daughter asked that question. "Just on the other side of those woods, near the mountians." Flower sighed. No matter how quickly they moved, the mountains didn't seem to get any closer than they were when they first started their journey. At this rate, Flower thought, they would never make it. A shiver was sent down her spine. "What will happen..." Flower started, but the sentence trailed off. "What will happen...?" Rose repeated. "What would happen... If the pack leader doesn't approve our request...?" Rose looked away with a thoughtful expression, as if the idea had never even passed through her mind. "If that happens," she said, giving Flower a look of determination, "Then we'll just have to find another way." Flower wondered what her mother meant by that. Could it be, perhaps, that she meant they'll take it by force? No, Flower thought, We wouldn't stand a chance against them. Flower's stomach growled, and it was only then that she realized how hungry she was. Her mother seemed to have took notice. She flicked her wing, as if telling her to go ahead and eat before they continue their quest. Flower bent down to the wet grass and slowly took a bite, chewing it hesitantly as if to test if it was safe to eat, then chomped it down hungrily. When she had eaten her fill, she looked up and noticed a sparkle of amusement in her mothers eyes. "Shall we get going?" Rose asked, "Are we all done here?" Flower nodded, but He he, I was gonna keep what they were a secret, but give little hints. "galloped" = horse, and you know they have wings. What they are are kind of embaressing but I'll tell you. Please no mean answers after this... They're unicorn pegasus' .......... I know it's stupid..... more

Resolved Question: Israel. Another war? Does this ship have weapons aboard, other than slingshots, sticks and stones?

Does Israel expect the US to come to its aid? ISTANBUL – An aid ship trying to break the blockade of Gaza could reach Israel's 20-mile (32-kilometer) exclusion zone late Friday, an activist said, but Israel's prime minister has vowed the ship will not reach land. The dueling comments suggest a potential new clash over Israel's three-year-old blockade of the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip — and come only four days after an Israeli commando raid on a larger aid flotilla left nine activists dead. Greta Berlin, a spokesman for the Free Gaza group, said in Nicosia the 1,200-ton Rachel Corrie is heading directly to Gaza and will not stop in any port on the way. It is trying to deliver hundreds of tons of aid, including wheelchairs, medical supplies and concrete. By Friday afternoon, the ship was 150 miles (240 kilometers) from the coast of Gaza in international waters, the group said on its website. Irish Nobel Peace Prize laureate Mairead McGuire and the former head of the U.N. Oil-for-Food program in Iraq, Denis Halliday, were among the 11 passengers on board. The Irish vessel is named after an American college student crushed to death by an Israeli army bulldozer while protesting house demolitions in Gaza. Israel will not allow the aid ship to reach Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Neanyahu told senior Cabinet ministers late Thursday. According to a participant in the meeting, he said Israel made several offers to direct the ship to an Israeli port, where the aid supplies would be unloaded, inspected and transferred to Gaza by land, but the offers were rejected. Netanyahu has hotly rejected calls to lift the blockade on Gaza, insisting that it prevents missile attacks on Israel. The Rachel Corrie's cargo of concrete is also a problem, because Israel considers that to have military uses.~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It's a turkish ship. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~Israel brags that they are able to take care of themselves. Yet they complain about 'rockets.' ?? hitting Israel for several years? Those 'rockets' can't be doing that much damage can they? Wouldn't Israel have let us know? Israel is as wrong as the Palestinians. End of story.I'm not promoting hatred. Just telling it as it is. We can make up our own minds. For goodness sakes, some believe the US to be terrorists, thus those we support become terrorists also. I don't have any desire to "promote hatred" Israel can do that on its own. more

Voting Question: Do you think Israels boarding of the 700 man flotilla in international waters to be a victory for Zionism?

Altogether 9 flotilla crew members were killed. One 19 year old American citizen of Turkish decent was excuted by a gun shot to the face in the forehead. Another 21 year old female American citizen of Maryland lost an eye after being shot in the face by a tear gas canister. (a tactic typically used by Israelis) The cargo of the flotilla consisted of food medical supplies basic building materials toys and books. My opinion is that this appears to be an Arab victory because the flotilla cargo and the 6 ships involved have been released. The flotilla was attacked in international waters and the only weapons on board the ships were scaffolding poles, some chains, kitchen knives, and a crate of sling shots without lead or metal shot. The activists did manage to wrestle a number of Israeli troops and threw their weapons over board. 3 Israeli soldiers were wounded from being shot by their own weapons while being overpowered. In the future I think the flotillas will just keep flowing in for now on. As long as Israel continues to kill civilians in international waters for only having a cargo of humanitarian aide in our Zionist extremist president Barrack Obama may have to reconsider American aid to Israel while they remorselessly kill American civilians partaking in humanitarian operations. Flotillas against Israel seems to be the most cost effective way to weaken the Zionist political strangle hold over the United States and the rest of the middle east. more

Resolved Question: Is my essay on Kokoda good?

During the 2nd World War, one of Australia’s biggest fears was of foreign invasion. In 1942 the Japanese came closest by invading Papua New Guinea. Australia played a crucial role by fighting in Papua New Guinea and perhaps this was one of Australia’s most significant roles in the 2nd world war. In fact, in only 7 months of fighting in Papua New Guinea, more Australian men died than in any other part of the war. The most famous and courageous campaign would be the Kokoda Trail. The Japanese plan was to take Port Moresby, which would allow them to control the South Pacific Area. The defeat of the Japanese in the battle of the Coral Sea prevented a sea-based attack on Port Moresby. So taking a new approach they landed at Milne Bay and an overland attack on Port Moresby by crossing the Kokoda Trail was organized. The Kokoda trail runs from Buna on the North Coast of Papua down through Kokoda, over the Owen Stanley Ranges and on to Port Moresby on the south coast of the peninsula. The Japanese landed near Buna on the 21st of July 1942. The Australians had landed at Port Moresby a month earlier in June with orders to secure the village of Kokoda. The northern part of the trail, from Buna to Kokoda, isn’t too treacherous. Therefore, the Japanese made good ground and in only two days were close to Kokoda. The Australians had it worse with a journey from Port Moresby over the Owen Stanley Ranges and on to Kokoda that took a full 8 days of hardship and endurance. The Owen Stanley Ranges consists of dangerous descents into gorges, fast flowing streams and in many parts soldiers had to contend with knee-deep mud and constant wetness. At higher altitudes mist was so thick it was not possible to see the man in front or behind. Sleep deprivation, very little food (such as , shelter and medical supplies were not the only problems soldiers had to contend with. There was also life-threatening diseases such as malaria, hookworm and dysentery. As well as having to cope with all of these problems, Australian soldiers also had to carry 30kg of gear on their backs which included; o Guns and ammunition. o There was also 6 days worth of food rations. 3 days normal rations and 3 days emergency. o The pack contained a change of clothes, toilet gear, and a Dixie. (Large metal cooking pot used for cooking as well as collecting water.) It was on the 2nd of November 1942 that it was declared the Japanese had been defeated when an Australian flag was raised in the village of Kokoda. The Japanese had retreated themselves, mainly due to starvation. Japanese communication lines had fallen and it had not been possible for them to obtain food. It got to the point that they had resorted to cannibalism, eating dead natives and Australians to survive. Australians lost 625 soldiers and over 1000 were wounded. It is believed that the Japanese numbers were probably 5 times higher and that was just from the Kokoda campaign alone. more

Voting Question: Does anybody know a CHEAP way to ship medical supplies (bandages etc) overseas?

I used to be a missionary in the Philippines. We worked with a local hospital there. I now live back in the States, and have had several boxes of bandages, tubing, swabs, etc etc etc donated to me. ( NO meds of any type) I would love to get them to the hospital there, but not sure the cheapest way. Any input from anybody? more

Resolved Question: A little scared for our dogs?

We're getting to dogs from some breeders, who had papers and came to inspect the house, and just really seemed to care about the dogs and where they will be living. See, it's a deal. The dogs will live with us, and every year they will return to the breeder to be bred with the dogs that our breeders want (which they said are top quality, as in they don't have a bad medical history(and there parents do as well, and so on) or anything). After that, they come back to us for the remainder of the pregnancy, and go back to the breeders to have puppies. This happens once every year, for five years. After that, the dogs are spayed and given to us to own. They said that a uterus in a dog is prone to all sorts of things, so it should either be spayed, or pregnant. They pay for all the medical supplies, and the special diet they want them on. We just care for them, walk them, and love them. The two dogs are a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and a White Golden Retriever. (Oh, it's been brought up before that there is no such thing as a "white" Golden Retriever. We know that, it's just what we've gotten use to calling her. She's the normal, creamy golden color) I'm worried for the dogs safety though? The breeders have a website and everything, and seem to really know what they're doing. Also, they said that they will retire the dog early if they see that she's under stress... Some advice, please?Yes, I can get a link to the website. It'll take me a bit, though. I have to get in touch with my mom to get it.They are not breeding the two dogs together. Both are females.Okay, they have two websites for the two different breeds. This is the first one. http://www.whitegoldens.net/ for the golden retriever I'll post the next one when I get itAnd here is the second http://www.cavaliersbycrumley.com/Yes, they gave us many instructions. Like give the goldie a fan because he gets hot easy, and make sure to give them a soft surface to lay on. Also to put baby gates up so they don't run up and down the stairs uninvited, and plus it's not healthy for them to do it ALL the time. They also said we must take obedience classes with them.Sorry Dabasset, that's not the one. Sorry you went through all the trouble. Thank you very muchReally? That's so dissapointing... I'll get a few more opinions, though, and see what others have to say. You know much more then I do, that's for sure. In my situation, what would you do?This is an awkward situation... I'm just the teenager here. We're getting them tomorrow, and my little brother and sister and mother are so excited. I don't want us to be apart of this if it's bad...Well... This is a bad situation. Not sure what I can do. Thanks for everythingOh, don't worry about it! You were just truthful, and that's what we need. more

Resolved Question: Medicare reimbursement for lift mechanism of power lift recliner: does anyone know how to get a form for this?

Medicare will reimburse patients for the lift mechanism of a power lift recliner IF the person qualifies per doctor's perscription order. The only places I can find that will process the form for you are the Medical supply stores that sell overpriced, ugly, uncomfortable lift chairs. They will not just hand me over a form to use at a different dealer/retailer. NONE of the furniture retailers in our area know how to do it, and we want a certain chair from a furniture retailer. We will have no trouble getting the doctor's order, our loved one is well qualified and deserving of a reimbursement. We just need a form to submit to Medicare or to provide to the retailer to submit. PLEASE don't ask us to call Medicare--that's red tape that could take a year or more. We need a chair very soon, and the old fella doesn't want to do it unless he can get reimbursement. He also doesn't care to buy a used chair. We pay full price of the chair up front, either we or the retailer processes the form with Medicare, who sends the reimbursement to the patient/insured. The reimbursement doesn't pay the full price of the chair, just a certain amount of reimbursement for the lift mechanism more

Resolved Question: Where in Milwaukee, WI can I buy off-season halloween decor?

Hey, I'm trying to find a store in Milwaukee, WI that sells fake skeletons, skulls, and/or cadavers. I need it for a costume and I looked in Bartz Party Supply store, but they don't have those things until Halloween. I will even settle for an inflatable man (I can make it look like a cadaver). It's a last minute costume, so ordering online is out of the question. Does anyone know of a store where I can look? Even a used educational/medical supply store? more

When a person receives paper work for the OTHER parties lawyer asking for Medical Records, Criminal records, Previous addresses, and other personal information that may be used against you in a court of law. Should this information be willingly supplied to the other parties lawyer or is it the other parties attorney responsible for getting subpoena to gather that type of information information. Resolved Question: pro palestinians do you believe that....?

it is israels responsibility to supply you with jobs, food, electricity, water, medical care, education, housing, money etc etc? if yes, then at what point do you start to use the billions in aid to build your own. hypothetically, if tomorrow it was declared that in one months time there would be a palestinian state would you still depend on israel to supply you with all of those things? at what point do you start to build your own homes, clean up your own garbage, build your own infrastructures, grow your own food, build your own hospitals, etc etc. how long after you would get your own state would you start to do this? also i am wondering why it is that the christian palestinians are very capable of building their own homes, setting up businesses, and succeeding in the territories. why cant the muslims help themselves... its time.it seems that the so called blockade is just an excuse... the christian palestinians are thriving..so that cant be the reason.@trancing.. except for the right of return for once i agree with you. @just asking and aisha.... israel still supplies gaza with electricity and water. the gazans complain when israel wont let them in for medical care, also they complain to the world that israel wont let them in to work. as for supply of food... every single day israel takes more than 100 truckloads of food to the gazan border where the palestinians meet them with brand new volvo trucks ( worth more than $250,000 dollars each and bought with aid money)to pick it up and then distribute it. if you look up the abc/bbc for the latest documentary...it shows this... and by the way the documentary was made by a french journalist who is muslim.@ aisha... the documentary was made in gaza with people who live there... it followed the 100 or so truck drivers for over a week every day to the border to pick up the food that the israelis leave every single day. more

Resolved Question: can they really charge me this much for a nebulizer?

i took my son to the pediatrician about a month ago. he already uses inhalers for allergy induced asthma. they said he needed something stronger. a nebulizer. i said ok do i just get one at the pharmacy or do i call my insurance. she (nurse) said no we will give you one here and the billing/insurance people will be in in just a few minutes to get you setup. i asked but how much will this cost me and she said nothing your insurance will pay for it. then the billing/insurance lady comes in with a nebulizer and papers. i asked her do i return this when im done and she said no its yours to keep. i said and this doesnt cost me anything and she said no your insurance co pays for it. ok. now today i get explanation of benefits from my insurance saying it was out of network and i owe the medical supply company $419.99. i called the insurance they said not their problem i have to deal with the pediatrician and medical supply people not the insurance. of course the medical supply is voicemail only. the billing people from pediatrician are gone for the day. how is this possible?? this same nebulizer sells for $42.90-60.00 online and in other pharmacies. who would i need to call to fight this the pediatrician or the medical supply people?? my son only used the nebulizer for 3 days then the pediatrician said stop using it and go back to inhalers, i didnt even open the 2nd set of tubing they gave me... what can i do about this? i cant afford to pay $419.99!! more

Resolved Question: Questions about formula?

My 5 1/2 month old was exclusively breastfed up until last Saturday. I am now giving him 2 bottles of formula a day. Please do not give me any bad comments about it becasue I already feel like crap about it. I tried everything, including getting help from a LC and prescriptions to help me with my supply, but a medical condition is keeping me from a healthy supply for my son. And in order to help him gain the weight that he needs, I have to suppliment. So, my questions are this: 1. When I give him formula in a bottle, do I warm it up? 2. I have 2 sample cans of formula at home. I started with the Similac Advanced and my son seems to take to it well. Once those are gone, can I use the Enfamil Triple stuff that I have? Is it ok to switch between them? 3. Since Sat, his poop has been a very very dark brown. Is that normal for formula fed babies? He hasnt been constipated or had a bad tummy ache or anything. thanks in advance for your answers =)I want to thank you all for being so kind. I know that some breastfed mommies can be a little harsh. I just wanted to add that I boiled a large pot of water and put it into a container. The night before I pour 2 bottles of water, seal them and leave them on the counter. So, they would be at least room temp. when I give him the bottle. more

Resolved Question: I have some questions about Health Insurance-getting it, and coverage...?

At the moment I am still on my parents Insurance since Im a College Student. But my boyfriend and I have been discussing Marriage (and not as in years away). And Since I'm type 1 diabetic Im always concerned about my health coverage-not to mention my mother is a complete control freak so I know nothing about how to order my medical supplies, if i can do it online or anything like that. I don't even know what to say when im at a doctors office and their asking me questions- I pretty much mumble and act like a moron because i have no idea what forms their talking about. So i really hate going ha ha..anyway So with the economy so bad my job doesn't offer good enough health coverage for me to use and if we get married I wont be on my parents anymore- so then I would be on his? but the thing is, were also planning to move to another state right after-or soon after were married...so then we wouldn't be covered because he wouldn't have that job during that time...I mean I guess technically I don't need to have insurance 24/7 I could just make sure i have enough supplies for the time in between-get new insurance like the state insurance that we live in.. i know they have PA insurance so the state were moving to would have insurance too right? And I would only be off insurance for maybe a few days and then we could sign up for the new insurance while im making appointments with new doctors..But also (sorry I just am so confused) I know that on some insurances you can only go to certain doctors, how do you know which ones? And can they ever not give me insurance because im diabetic? I remember hearing something about a pre existing problem. I would really appreciate any help. more

Resolved Question: Do I have a good case to sue my mother?

My mother is currently going through a mid-life crisis. Last year she divorced my dad and ever since has been freaking crazy. She got a new boyfriend, acts like a 13 year old, drinks and goes out every night leaving my 17 year old brother at home EVERY night alone. I am away in college but come home every weekend to work at my dads business. My mother got custody of my brother and me and the house which has been in my father's family for many year. she got the house only until my brother and I graduate so we have a place to live. Recently, like within the last month she has kicked my brother out for a week because he got into some small trouble at school and then kicked me out completely when we got into a fight. So since she kicked me out and I simply can not stand to live with her anymore, I began searching for an apartment. I found the perfect one for relatively cheap and applied for it. Turns out my credit is too low to get it, or any apartment in fact. I had no idea why my credit was so low since I always make my payments on time, ALWAYS! Turns out, my freshman year of college my mother gave me an "emergency only" credit card. I only used it for school supplies and emergencies with my car but i ALWAYS called her first. Well turns out, she put the card under my name, and hasn't made a payment in over a year. She did not tell me it was under my name. I never knew. My credit is also jacked because she refuses to pay a medical bill to a dr. office where i go to school when i was very sick. Debt collectors have been calling me but I refer them to her because she is responsible for all bills. I am not LEGALLY independent though I am 20. Basically I want to sue her for breech of her contract with my dad, since she kicked me out of the house, as well as messing up MY credit without my knowledge. Please someone help me out with exactly what to do and how to do it! more

Resolved Question: should Child support money be placed on a special debate card like they do with the food stamp card?

I have no problem paying child support. The problem that I do have though, why should I give my ex money that is not guaranteed to go toward the child needs? With a child support card, it could be set up like they do with food stamps. The card could be used for groceries. Clothing for the child. School items. Medical need if needed. School supplies. Things that the child will need. The debate card would be set up where the parents wouldn't be able to buy things they need. If a parent needs a bill to pay, let their as$ go out and get a job. Child support shouldn't be used to take care of a grown folks needs or wants. This is why it's call child support. I personally wouldn't want my child support money spent on Cigarettes. Cable bills. Rent. Hair do. Gasoline for the car. drugs. A new dress for the x. Dinner dates. Anything that doesn't benefit the child needs. Also with the card, the parent would not be able to get money off of it. If you put the child support on a debate card that is set up to where it benefits the child, I'm sure there would be more parents who don't have custody of their child, wouldn't have a problem paying child support. Since the child support would go directly toward the child needs and not toward the custodial parent needs or wants. My ex wife, who was once married before. Her x husband child support money went toward things that did not benefit the kids at all. She got her hair done with the money. She used most of the money to pay her credit cards off. She would spend it on herself more then she would on the kids. With a child support card, something like this would never happen. So do you think that child support money be placed on a special debate card like they do with the food stamp card? more

Resolved Question: pregnancy gift - how to respond?

i'm 10 weeks pregnant and i just got a package and card from my mother in law: 'congrats on your first pregnancy, this is the best gift i can offer you and the baby. if you decide to take them, i will supply them to you for the entire pregnancy' the package contained probiotic supplements. clearly on the box it said "not FDA approved, ask your doctor before taking if you are pregnant or nursing" so, first of all, i already take probiotics and prenatal vitamins, which have all been inspected and okay'd by my doctor. i don't want to switch brands, nor do i want to bother my doctor to ask him about these supplements. (my next appointment is a month away) on top of all this, i'm in nursing school right now and my MIL has absolutely no medical background (she's an elementary school teacher). honestly i'm rather insulted by this gift. money is tight right now and there are so many other things she could have bought me (and offer to supply for the entire pregnancy). this isn't the first time she gave us something wacky - she gave my husband several diet books that she was suggesting we use. and also something called a 'zapper' - it sends mild electric currents through your body to kill parasites (which, according to the zapper's inventor, are the cause of ever physical ailment known to man, including AIDS and cancer). but this is the first thing she's given directly to me. i do NOT want to encourage these gifts, but i also don't want to be rude because i'm sure in her eyes, she means well. how should i respond? Voting Question: Walton Medical Laboratory?

Margaret Walton spent 10 years working in the laboratory at City Hospital. During that time, she advanced to the position of director of the laboratory and completed an MBA degree. She felt that opportunities for further advancement at the hospital were limited and was looking for a new challenge. She took a course in entrepreneurship and was fascinated by the idea of starting her own business. Walton decided that she would open an independent laboratory to provide medical tests for independent medical practices. She believed that she could help physicians reduce both their capital requirements and administrative chores, as well as provide more accurate testing. Walton began assembling information. She discovered a piece of land available near a number of independent medical practices. The land could be purchased for $100,000, and a suitable building would cost approximately $400,000. The building would have a useful life of approximately 40 years. Laboratory equipment would cost $1 million. The equipment would have a life of 7 years for tax purposes, but would actually last 10 years. Although the business could continue indefinitely, Walton wanted to do the analysis based on the assumption of a life similar to that of the laboratory equipment:10 years. In addition to fixed asses, working capital such as cash, supplies, receivables, and payables would be needed. Walton wanted to maintain a minimum cash balance of $20,000. She estimated that $100,000 of supplies would be needed initially, and accounts payable at $40,000. She estimated that the cash, supplies, receivables, and payables categories would double at the end of the first year and would not increase thereafter. Walton predicted revenue of $600,000 during the first year and $1,200,000 each year thereafter. She estimated that labor expenses, including a salary for her equal to what she was now earning, of $300,000 in the firs year and $480,000 each year thereafter. She estimated a supplies expense of $120,000 in the first year and $190,000 each year thereafter. SHe estimated overhead expense, other than depreciation, of $100,000 a year. Looking ahead, Walton estimated that the equipment would have a negligible value in 10 years, while the building would have lost one-fourth of tits value and the land 1 would still be worth $100,000. She guessed that supplies inventory could be sold for half its cost, and other working capital items would be settled at their book values. Walton turned her attention to financing. She had limited capital of her own and would need to seek outside investors. She had heard enough horror stories about problems that occurred when companies could not make payments on debts, and she wanted to avoid those troubles. Thus, she wanted to try to arrange all equity financing, and use a bank line of credit only for temporary needs. Walton decided on a plan involving ten wealthy investors, preferably senior retired physicians who would then serve on the board of directors. She would fund the project by creating eleven shares – one share free to herself as a founder’s share and one share to each of the investors. Each investor would then invest 10 percent of the capital requirements. Walton tentatively discussed the project with several senior retire physicians to see what would be required. They viewed this as an investment of moderate risk and indicated that they would want a 12 percent after tax return from an investment of this type. While several investors encourages her to continue, they were naturally unwilling to make a commitment without a proposal and a thorough financial analysis. Walton began to develop a profitability analysis and a proposal. She had to choose between the corporate tax form and an S form. She estimated that most investors would be in 28 percent tax brackets. All funds not needed internally would be paid out to the shareholders. She thought she could be ready to start by the first of the year, so assets would be considered placed in service in January. Case questions 1. Identify all cash flow on the assumption the business is taxed at a 28 percent tax rate. 2. Prepare a net present value analysis. 3. Does this investment provide a satisfactory rate of return to investors? 4. Is it fair and reasonable for Walton to get one-eleventh of the company without putting up equity capital of her own? more

Resolved Question: What would you pay for an alt health service?

http://www.drcrunch.com is creating a diagnostic (and therapeutic) service for health concerns. We need to know how much effort to put into the diagnostic part (and like health care thousands of years ago in Greece and Ireland, and in the medical system then) will interpret relevant dreams as the first step in the process. So we need to know whether you (your age and employed or not) would prefer a simple diagnostic service say at $19.95-24.95 per dream. Or take a monthly subscription for say $49.95? This is just the diagnosis. The remedies (possibly contained in your dreams too, maybe as simple as a change in what you eat) might come with it, or if not, then we would supply a therapeutic service to go with it (usually for significantly less than the medical system charges). The services would not include emergency health care or surgery. One service would be to remediate Alzheimer's and several other chronic ailments including colitis. In your answer please be explicit and provide a range of what you think would be fair, and whether you would consider using such a service (which in its time had an exceptionally high success rate, while the medical system has slipped to 55%). Resolved Question: What do I do about my unreliable jogger's Heart Rate Monitor?

I gave up on my old HRM a while ago, and decided to buy a new one. I got on a fitness equipment review site, and selected a well reviewed model. Now this new HRM is giving me trouble also. I'm rather frustrated because I consider hitting my target heart rate to be an important part of my fitness program. I've changed the batteries. I've done what I could to clean the contacts, and the area of skin the contacts are put over. I've even used Clearasil figuring that it's skin oil and dirt cleansing qualities might help, and bought electro-conductive gel from a medical supply. I'm considering calling the manufacturers; but I'm afraid that it's not the HRM, but me that's the problem. This is the second HRM this has happened with after all. (It would work fine for the first couple months then it would get less and less reliable.) I'm afraid there's residues in my sweat that are killing electro-conductivity. Please help.Son of a... Your suggestion actually worked, TheDuck. At least as far as lately I couldn't even get the HRM to give me a heart rate at all. I put it on. It gave me a heart rate soon enough; and continued to give me a heart rate for several minutes. It stopped working just now. Not %100 encouraging. Not least of all since I still don't know what the greater problem was; and that seems to be deteriorating. I used a partially soaked Under Armor shirt, which naturally was freezing as I put it on. I'll try it tomorrow for a workout. The critical thing is getting a full workout out of the HRM without it crapping out on me. Even if that works, there's no guarrantees it will work again the next day, or a week from now.Apology accepted Ubermind. I'm afraid that's not anything not well known by users of HRMs. After all I've yet to hear of an HRM working dry. I don't think that Clearasil could cause a problem. Certainly I've only recently started using the Clearasil, and only in the hope that it would help. It should cleanse the skin of things that might interfere with electro-conductivity. It's not like I'm exposed to anything environmental. What's on my skin is what got there through my pores, residues from evaporated sweat. After that wet sweat from the exercise should be fine.Sorry TheDuck, I got ready for my workout, put on the soaked shirt, now luke warm after being put under scalding hot water, put on the chest band, and turned on the HRM. After waiting a couple minutes the watch gave up on getting a heart rate. Unless someone can offer another suggestion, I guess I'm going to have to call the manufacturers. Here's hoping I just have bad luck with receiving defective HRMs. more

Resolved Question: What acts are illicit to God always, by the Roman Catholic Law under present Pope?

Due to rise in rate of attacks, one would like to know what deeds are the Evils at face value like blasphemy against God, Homicide, and Adultery. Would one support the Democrats for our freedom, or Communists, the Muslims or Christians as our brothers, Israel as Children of God, or Palestine? For those ignorant of the world around us, the following news reports are useful: Wwe have had the attack on Iraq by the Allies due to Human Rights Violation there, plus the controlled demolition of the World Trade Towers by Muslim terrorists, further attempts to destroy America from within, Attacks on various important political places all over the world, including the Indian Parliament when BJP and Congress governments were in session. But, Presently, Russia has armed Iran, so that the Allies cannot attack it. Muslims in Khazakhistan use torture even to death, to force citizens to obey them, and thus take away their freedom. Iran's nuclear program cannot be stopped, even by negotiations in the Group of Eight. So, enriched Uranium for nuclear bombs is being supplied now to Iran under Ali Akbar of the atomic dept. in the name of Medical Reactor requirements. France is working on a 55-year old Russian system for controlled nuclear fusion for power production. This dud system needs the best nuclear scientists to attend there, but takes more power to start, and cannot return that much power. Reports indicate that a torpedo hit a South Korean/American destroyer, sinking it, like the downing of the Russian submarine during a peaceful Cosack military exercise. Resolved Question: care plan and nursing report?

Word limit: 1150 words Case Study You are a nurse working in a community centre. You have been asked to do a home visit on a new client who has been referred to the centre following a fall. Although the client received only superficial injuries, his local doctor has referred him to the centre for assessment and follow-up care if needed. Mr Smith’s wife has recently died. You have been supplied with the following information by the local doctor: The client: Mr Henry SMITH Date of birth: 27th January 1935 Address: 15 Amber Way, Jacksonville Age:75 years Past Medical History: Nil hospital admissions; history of hypertension for past five years Height:1.75m Weight:60 kg Observations: B.P: 145/90; T: 36.5oC; P: 68; R: 16; O2 Sats: 96% Current Medical History: Abrasions to left elbow and outer aspect of left thigh from a fall in the bathroom at home. No other relevant history. When you arrive at Mr Smith’s address, you find a neat freestanding house with three steps up to a small front verandah. Mr Smith meets you at the door and after introducing yourself, he invites you inside. You check Mr Smith’s dressings and see that they are clean, dry and intact with no ooze, the instructions are to leave them intact till next week. On examination, Mr Smith appears pale and gaunt, is slightly dishevelled, his clothes are soiled and unironed and seem to be too big for him. He has obvious body odour. He is alert and oriented. You take a set of observations with the following results: T 36.50C; P 64; R 16; BP 145/85; SaO2 95%. Mr Smith states he isn’t eating very well and finds it difficult to prepare meals since his wife died. He tells you that she used to do all the cooking and they would do the shopping together, now he “can’t be bothered” going to the shops and generally has a cup of tea and some toast for most meals. When his daughter visits, once every couple of weeks, she leaves him with some meals which he manages to heat up in the microwave. He used to play bowls but finds it too lonely now as he used to play doubles with his wife as his playing partner so he hasn’t been back to the bowling club since his wife died. You ask if you can have a look around the house and he agrees. You find it consists of three bedrooms, all fairly clean, the floors are polished timber with mats in the hall and in each room. In the lounge room, you notice the power cord to the television runs across the floor and there is a small heater placed near the door, its cord comes from the same power point and crosses in front of the chair Mr Smith uses. In the kitchen, you find the fridge with some milk, butter and two bottles of beer. In the freezer there is an unopened packet of frozen vegetables and a loaf of bread. There doesn’t appear to be any other food in the kitchen. The bathroom has a bath with a separate shower, toilet and small sink. When you have finished inspecting the house, you sit down with Mr Smith and ask him about his diet and hygiene needs. He repeats that he doesn’t feel like eating and knows there isn’t much food in the house but states he gets by on bread and butter. He says he doesn’t wash every day, maybe once a week because the bath is too hard to get into and out of and he has difficulty standing for long enough in the shower. He also states it is too cold in the bathroom to have a shower. He has difficulty washing his clothes as his wife did all that for him and he’s not sure how to use the machine. Anyway, he doesn’t do much so his clothes don’t really get dirty. He says “lately I don’t have enough energy to do very much at all”. THE ASSIGNMENT: Part 1 Collate the above data into the domains of health and identify one (only) nursing issue. For this nursing issue, develop a goal, interventions which will enable you to reach the goal and provide rationales for each of the interventions. Part 2 Write a report about your visit and your findings. Please do not make up any information and follow the guidelines for report writing as outlines by Crisp and Taylor (p. 356, 2009). Please check in the Learning Guide for more detailed information. Good luck. From the case study , select one family member, identify one (1) Nursing Problem (Issue) and design and rationalise individual care for that person. This isto include identification of one Nursing Issue which will need at least one goal, strategies (actions) to meet the goal and rationales, explaining how eachof these strategies will help achieve the goal identified. Strategies and rationales need to be evidence based; t herefore accurate referencing of nursing literature is required. Individualised Care Design ¨C (word length 1000 words). Voting Question: Why is this bad for America?

1. Once reform is fully implemented, over 95% of Americans will PAY to have MANDATED health insurance coverage, including 32 million who are currently uninsured but could possibly have a job in 4 years. Those that don't will go on medicare 2. Health insurance companies will no longer be allowed to deny INDIVIDUAL people coverage because of preexisting conditions—or to drop INDIVIDUAL coverage when people become sick. However, they may drop the coverage all together for everyone under that one particular group for that one particular condition. 3. Just like members of Congress, individuals and small businesses who can't afford to purchase insurance on their own will be able to pool together and choose from a variety of competing plans with lower premiums paid for with tax breaks that may not save them more money than the fine they will have to pay if they do not. 4. Reform will cut the federal budget deficit by $138 billion over the next ten years, and a whopping $1.2 trillion in the following ten years based on a theorized decline in the cost of health insurance. 5. Health care will be more affordable for families and small businesses that chose not to offer health insurance, thanks to new tax credits for INDIVIDUALS, subsidies, and other assistance—paid for largely by taxing insurance companies, drug companies, and people making over 200,000 dollars a year. These credits will be available to only the very lowest income families. Those who make less that 133% the poverty level will have to pay 3 to 4% of their yearly income to qualify. Most families will have to spend over 10% of their yearly income on medical expenses to qualify. 6. Seniors on Medicare will pay less for their prescription drugs because the legislation closes the "donut hole" gap in existing coverage by taking them off Medicare and making them pay for private insurance through the above mentioned government aid. 7. By reducing health care costs for employers but at the same time taxing them to create the so called "surplus", in theory, the reform will create or save more than 2.5 million jobs over the next decade by mostly establishing a government run and appointed branch of the executive government called the "health commission" that will oversee who, what, when, where and how procedures are covered under medicare and the aforementioned government aid is handed out. 8. Medicaid will be expanded to offer health insurance coverage to an additional 16 million low-income people who make less than minimum wage at 40 hours a week. 9. Instead of losing coverage after they leave home or graduate from college, young adults will be able to remain on their families' insurance plans until age 26 causing their parents extra financial burdens that can not be included in their tuition as is currently the case. 10. Community health centers would receive an additional $11 billion, doubling the number of patients who can be treated regardless of their insurance or ability to pay assuming they use that money for employees rather than medical supplies. Obviously it's terrible for people who make over $ 200k a year but considering the fact that there's more people who make under 200k than over it benefits more people than it hurts. And for those who complain about 'being forced' to buy health insurance i think everyone should be forced to buy it yu can't predict if something will happen to you and what happens to the bills for uninsured americans? more

Resolved Question: Would Jesus favor government coercion to force people to supply goods and services for the poor?

I'm trying to think of any indication in Jesus' teachings where he envisioned the use of force to supply goods and services to the poor, and I'm coming up empty. Am I overlooking some teaching or example here? If Jesus did not advocate coercion to help the poor but only individual generosity, what does this imply about a "right" to food, clothing, shelter, or medical services? more

Resolved Question: Will We Have Enough Doctors Under Government-Run Health Care?

If we add 15 to 30 million people in the system already at capacity and loose 25 to 50 percent of the doctors, how will everyone receive the care we are used to? Either we would need to immediately replace the shortage of medical doctors and/or ration care. In any case, it seems that wait times would necessarily need to increase, particularly for less urgent needs. How do supporters of socialized health care reconcile the supply/demand equation? more

Resolved Question: Why is the Health bill so misrepresented?

Although the majority of the U.S. population is against it, most are for reform of health care.. Sounds strange to say that, but for me, I would love to see the cost of services put in check, or premiums made somewhat affordable. In CT, I was told that we have mandatory minimums on the insurance premiums, and just recently I got a letter saying there was a mandatory increase premiums for people using the state funded Husky program. Why is there a "mandatory" increase, and why does the health commision set minimum numbers on premiums? Medical supplies have intentionally inflated prices to make sure they meet the maximum payout by insurance companies, nevermind setting a regular markup price, these companies set rediculous prices just to be on the safe side. When will insurance companies stop paying out $45 for a $5 ace bandage? I know insurance companies don't care, because I shopped for needed meds once out of state, and found a medical firm that sold the same drug for thousands less than my in state pharmacy, but law says I can't buy out of state or I would be considered a drug dealer... The insurance company didn't care if I saved them thousands of dollars..(seriously) they said that to me. So why do politicians keep trying to push this plan through instead of looking at the common sense solutions, like fixing price gouging, and no out of state shopping for plans..? more

Resolved Question: Are there many unanswered questions about a Health Care bill that's about to become " Law "?

Will the current Bill do any of the following: 1. Allow me to build my own policy and not have to pay for things I don't need or will never use? ( My sons and I will never need a pap smear, nor give birth, don't want a hair transplant and will never use the alcohol/drug rehab plan) Yet I am forced to pay for that coverage because of law makers. This vastly increases costs) 2. Do anythin at all to lower the cost of Malpractic Insurance (One of my Dr pays 70,000 / year for liability coverage which is covered by his fees) ( Trial lawyers have nothing to lose. Most cases get settled no matter how ridiculous because the lawyers never have to pay court or legal fees. Easy Fix = Loser Pays all court and legal fees of both parties) That 70,000 will be drastically reduced, and the cost savings passed on.) 3. Lower my monthly premium ? How can it when Ins companies are now required to cover more people, even with pre-existing conditions. Premiums can only go up. And they are forced to cover basic stuff like minor doctors visits when people should be able to pay for that out of pocket. Other questions about this "reform" 4. If they are required to cover pre-existing conditions, what prevents people from canceling coverage all together and using the money saved for basic medical care? Then get the insurance only when/if you need major medical care? 5. What will happen when Ins companies go out of business? ( See above question) Will the Gov option be the only option? 6. When the gov has control of how much a doctor or a hospital can make per procedure, what will that do to the number of people willing to enter the Medical field as a profession. 6-B God Forbid, but what if Doctors are forced to join a Gov Union like the SEIU ? 7. (Combined with above) When adding 30 million more people to the system thereby vastly increasing demand, how will the supply side look? 8. When supply gets overwhelmed with demand, how can rationing be avoided? 9. What will happen to our coverage when the government decides it needs to "reign in costs". 10. What "life-style laws" will be passed in the name of "protecting us" from ourselves? 11. Why can't people "shop for the best price" like they would anything else. 12.
