I have have to write an opinion paper for school on the topic: " Is the use of lasers to preform internal medical procedures (ex. cancer treatment) a safe and more effective alternative to traditional invasive surgeries?" ... and there seems to be very little information on this topic on the web. i could really use some help getting started or some pros and cons i can brainstorm off of. thank-you (: moreVoting Question: I have more hair on my body than most men. Need a natural solution. PLEASE?
HI, Im a 19 year old girl. I have a LOT of body hair all over. Its on my back my stomach my breasts(especially around the nipples), my legs, hands, shoulders, underarms, etc. Its basically all over. I do wax but i have to do it very very often. Plus when the hair starts growing again it is dark and thick and as u cant wax small hairgrowth i used to shave it. This actually made the hair grow back thicker and blacker and faster(within a day). I have not waxed my back or stomach as i realy cannot go through that kind of pain so often but yes i have used hair removal creams there. But as i told u the hair grows back within a week after waxing and in 1 or 2 days with hair removal cream. I have a boyfriend and he hates my body because of this hair. Its kind of embarrasing and depressing. Also my underarms have become black because of excessive hair removal creams and sweat due to hair. And now my underarms look like they always have hair even right after waxing. I try to hide all this hair under clothes but in the Summers it becomes extremely difficult to wear fully covered clothes. I also have a lot of hair circling my nipples and you have to understand how embarrased i get to change in front of anybody. The hair there is quite long almost 3 cms or so. My family is not going to let me undergo any kind of medical treatment like electrolysis or laser hair removal right now. For one thing we cannot even afford it and i cant talk to them very freely about it. So please i need help over here. I also have hair on my fingers and toes. Just writting this qustion makes me feel like crying. As i told you my boyfriend probably has less hair than me. I need a natural solution or some drugs or something i can do on my own to get rid of this hair. Iv googled it a lot. And the only 1 natural solution iv read is spearmint tea. And iv tried that but it hasnt really helped. Im ready to do anything but please i need to get rid of or atleast decrease the hair growth naturally. And try getting rid of the hair on my nipples. Please reply to this question. :'(Also am very fair so even a little hair growth starts showing very fast. That is why waxing, shaving and hair removal creams are quite usless...A brazillian body wax does not help me as i stated because hair starts growing back very quick and even small hair starts to show...I dont think the problem is genetic as my mother does not have that much hair. moreResolved Question: Why do some people believe that the handicap are nothing more than a burden and should be terminated?
Apologies for this long post, but after I saw one poster's suggestion that we all should kill people with varying degrees of disability, I was just...stunned! I have to say something in my defense on this issue and I just want those people to see what I have to go through being handicapped--so they will know that it's not an easy thing. I was born a preemie with cerebral palsy; weighed in at 2 pounds 8 ounces. When I as a teenager, I diagnosed with a bi-polar disorder and ADD/ADHD. In the past 8 years? It's COPD, Vitamin D Deficiency Syndrome, Recurrent Calcium Stone Disease, Factor Five Leiden, an optic nerve degeneration disorder, and sleep apnea--among other things. My entire life from the get go was nothing but hardships, challenges, and failure. I didn't just stand by and let the world roll me over a good one. I eventually stood up for myself, I fought the good fight, and made something of my life--even though I still suffer from failing health. (Not as bad as Dennis Hopper's though.) And while I may not be a *major* contributor to our all important capitalist system of free market principles, I still have some value and importance in people's lives. Just not in terms of material wealth and money. But no matter how different we are born, or are saddled with either physical or mental problems, it doesn't mean that we should just be cast aside or want to see those afflicted killed out of social ignorance--because some people see people like me as a "burden", or fail to understand just what it is that makes people like myself wholly dependent on medical and government assistance. I just wish these same types would walk in my shoes for a day and see what I have to go through just to survive. What's it is like to have to use inhalers--because you can't breathe normally--or have to take blood-thinners because you have a malfunctioning clotting factor, or any of the other types of medications which regulates your high blood pressure, asthma, depression, and keeps the nerve sheaths in both eyes from disintegrating prematurely. (Though this will lead to eventual blindness--for now, I am lucky to still have my sight.) And to top it all off? A half dozen or more doctor appointments to deal with all these issues: Having to run all over town to get poked, prodded, scanned and blood drawn on time, or wired up like a guinea pig for a sleep study, x-rayed like crazy, BP checked on a monthly, vitals checked to make sure I'm still alive, weight checked to see if I've lost any more weight, and twice a year laser lithotripsy procedure for kidney stones--so the doctor in question can stick a stent up inside and give me all those wonderful pain pills afterward--leaving me without worries or fear. The pain, the suffering, *everything* that I have to go through. It's because I don't have many other choices. And it's no picnic neither. But even through all this, I keep going with a sense of humor because it's easier to look at my problems through a different window and realize how lucky I am to be cared for by so many people, than just be negative about my situation and blame others for things clearly out of my control. I couldn't been born normally like my two brothers, but I wasn't. And that's what makes me so special. Thoughts? moreResolved Question: Comments on the following please?
hi I've had one round of laser hair removal on my chest and arms and it was pretty painful. It was a IPL session I think but I'm not sure what type of machine it was. I have very very dark brown hair and a decent amount of it. Also I have medium coloured skin (on chest its lighter due to lack of sunlight). However I have changed and now booked myself in for another treatment this time using a different machine which is IPL Medical Grade 4 or something. Will this machine be less painful than the typical machine? Apparently its the only machine in my city so I couldn't of used it before when I went for my first time! I've been told its pain-free; well is it? Thats all I need to know! Thank you for all your help Cheers :) moreResolved Question: How is it possible? Answer this Please?

I have just begun the IPledge program for Accutane. Unfortunately I really enjoy waxing my eyebrows and the packet reads as follows: Do not have cosmetic procedures to smooth your skin, including waxing, dermabrasion, or laser procedures, while you are using isotretinoin and for at least 6 months after you stop. Isotretinoin can increase your chance of scarring from these procedures. Check with your doctor for advice about when you can have cosmetic procedures. Is it still okay if I pluck the occasional stray hair from my eyebrows on Accutane? I know it may not be recommended, but I wanted to see what others that have taken the drug had to say. I would love it if Accutane experienced users or people with medical knowledge could guide me. Thanks!Okay, thank you guys SO much! I think maybe wax is too likely to remove that top layer of skin-- which is exactly why they say do NOT do it. I can happily survive if I can pluck though. Thank you, thank you, thank you! moreResolved Question: How to get rid quikley of brown spots frome my face, after Laser Co2? Any medical cream is best in this case ,?

Before you judge me let me explain. I have a 6 year old cat that has been dealing with a sickness that no one can seem to help me with. He continuously stratches himself to the point where he has had open sores on his neck, side, and back for going on 4 years. This has required me to put a cone on him every day. The only relief he gets from the cone is when I can sit with him for about an hour a day (I really have a hard time doing more as I don't have time to cook dinner, time to myself, time with my husband, ect). If he leaves me lap...he immediately scratches and reopens the wounds. I have spent thousands of dollars on my poor kitty only to hear the vets call him a "medical mystery". So please, spare me the grief for asking this question. I am only looking for these sores to heal so I can see what else can be done for him. I understand that declawing him may not solve the issue of him being so "itchy" all the time but at least he won't have open, bloody sores all the time. With that aside, have any of you used this procedure (laser declawing) and what were the side effects on your kitty?Ok, if you don't know what laser declawing is don't answer the question please...laser declawing (and I suggest you research) does NOT remove the bone. Please don't suggest treatment ideas (rubber claws)...everything everyone has mentioned to "fix" him has already been tried. yes, I have been to multiple vets...I would love to hear from someone who has tried the laser technique. Thanks. And also, this seems to be the last bit of anything I can do before I have to start thinking about euthanasia --- something I am trying DESPERATELY to avoid. I would love for some of you who are judging me to deal with your cat constantly crying while scratching into his neck, bleeding in the process, taking care of his open sores EVERY day, having your husband stressed at you because he can't take it anymore, but neither of you can stand to put him to sleep, all the while knowing the next doctor visit is all about the money for the vet and not whats in the best interest of your pet, and then come talk to me about what's right or wrong. What's the saying, walk a mile in a person's shoes? Try walking in mine for the past almost 5 years...sheesh people. moreResolved Question: Medical mystery....help please? DOC'S WELCOME (ANONYMOUS)?

I work in the medical spa industry. We recently hired a dentist. She's young fresh out of school. When she first started she was very nice. A week later after her employment with the company she started to be snappy and disrespectful towards me. Today she was bluntly rude to me in front of our GM. She mocked my previous sentence in our conversation and told me in a very rude manner that I was being rude by telling her that I don't want to speak about my personal choice of birth control pills. (The fact was she was asking me what I used so that i don't get pregnant, I said I don't want to speak about my sexual relations with you.) I had a patient that came in as she was going back and forth with me. I excused myself, and took the patient to our laser room. Once I was done My boss pulled me aside and told me that she cried after I walked away. And that I should apologise to her. (What?) I responded by saying I thought it through and felt that she is power tripping because she's a Dr. and wants me to kiss up to her. My boss said well you have to be the better person, and forgive. So After that my boss left, and I went up to the dentist and asked her if it she had a few minutes to talk. She was on her Iphone and said no this is not a good time. (In a very rude manner) As I was walking away she started to speak with me, I told her that it was very rude that she mocked me in that manner, and that I felt disrespected by her. I said I would like our relationship to remain as professional as possible and for her to watch her bounderies/tone with me. She gets up out of her chair and says I'm not having this conversation with you any more; then says, "SHUT UP!" So I backed off, and ignored her the remaining of the day. This is not the first time she's done this she snaps at our boss as well at times, but our boss handles it in a very calm manner. But I think in doing so she has gave her too much freedom to do as she would in her home. BTW I am being promoted to be an assistant to my GM as we speak. So she's basically being insubordinate. One day she comes to work extra nice the next she's all different and rude, like dr.jekylle and mr.hyde. How should I handle this situation? Without letting my emotions show, and to set clear bonderies so that this doesn't happen agin in the future? At the same time to make her back off and show respect. Thank you in advance! moreVoting Question: what algae is the best for growing Bio diesel fuel with lasers?
The scientists used a prototype tester about one square meter in size that shot a laser beam at water samples to stimulate photosynthesis in the algae. Some of the laser... Read More’s heat goes unused by the algae and is sent back into the water based on the condition of the algae and the photosynthesis rate. This returned heat creates sound waves that can be measured and analyzed with special underwater equipment, Dubinsky explained. The strength of these returned sound waves are then used to determine the health and contamination levels of the algae and the surrounding water. A general gauge of algal growth is the daily darkening color as the cells multiply. A more accurate measure of growth can be made by comparing actual cell numbers with the previous day's count. The number of cells can be determined by studying a sample from a culture under a 400X microscope. The sample is placed on a special slide called a ... Read Morehemacytometer. These slides are available from scientific or medical supply stores and come with instructions. To use the hemacytometer, place a pipet filled with a sample from the culture tank against the "V" groove of the slide (a cover slip must be in place). Withdraw the pipet before the sample runs off the flat grid area, but not before the grid area is completely covered with the algal suspension. Wait about five minutes for the cells to drift onto the grid. The grid area resembles the pound symbol (#) inside a square border so that there are nine equal squares. Each of the four corner squares are further divided into 16 smaller squares. The total number of algal cells in all 16 small squares in the four corner areas (64 total small sqs.) are counted. Divide this number by four, for an average, and multiply by 10,000 (hemacytometer volume factor). The product is equal to the number of cells per mL in the sample. Motile algae like I. galbana, must be killed before counting. A weak toxin such as acetic acid or ethanol may be used (one drop into 20-30 mLs of algal sample). Dense cultures (>3 million) should be diluted 1:10 to facilitate counting and to reduce error. Remember to multiply by 10 (for a 10:l dilution) or by the appropriate correction factor if a different dilution is made. There are numerous other methods to quantify algal densities, however using a microscope and hemacytometer, will reveal the presence of biological contaminants. so what i'm really asking is what algae is the best and cheepest to grow and how can i take a laser and help grow them! Anyone who helps i give great props too! moreResolved Question: Conservative health reforms. what do you think?
I wrote up this huge response to some liberal's health reform question only to find the question was removed before I could post my answer! D'oh! I decided to post it as a question instead. I'm so sick of ignorant liberals who don't know what they're talking about claiming that Republicans have no ideas for health care reform. Here they are for like the gazzillionth time. 1) Open up competition by removing laws that restrict interstate insurance sales. There are 1300+ health insurance companies in America, but if you live in California, for instance, you can only purchase insurance from 6 of them due to state law. Congress has the power to regulate interstate commerce and should exercise that power. If Obama wants more competition, why doesn't he support this reform? 2) De-regulate health insurance so insurers can sell a wider variety of policies. Right now, every state has strict guidelines on what care insurance has to cover. As a result young healthy people can't buy high deductible, catastrophic only policies. Millions of the uninsured are just those kind of people who don't want comprehensive insurance. Having catastrophic only coverage means you simply pay out of pocket for routine stuff like doctors visits and routine prescription drugs. 3) Expansion and improvement of health savings accounts, wherein people can use the saved money to either pay for health care costs directly, or buy insurance of their choice, rather than choosing only among the insurance provided by their employer. This would also sever the tie between employers and insurance, as the employee would own the policy and keep it if they leave their job. The HSA would add a free market element to health care purchase decisions that would lower costs by making health care users into prudent buyers.. 4) Medical malpractice tort reform. By some estimates, the annual cost of MM liability insurance, and defensive medicine practiced to avoid lawsuits costs as much as $200 Billion a year. One suggestion is to set up a medical malpractice arbitration fund paid for by a tax on insurers. Potential claims would be adjudicated by medical experts, and law suits against health providers would be illegal. The current system is basically a jackpot system that funnels a lot of money to trial lawyers. 5) Make all health care expenses tax deductible, not just when paid for by an employer, when they exceed 7.5% of AGI. 6) Administer govt run health plans like medicaid and medicare through tax credits that allow seniors and poor to go out and buy their own policy rather than being stuck with the one policy offered by government. For those of you in Rio Linda, a tax credit is different from a tax deduction. A tax credit is available to anyone, not just those who owe taxes. My suggestions, don't cost anything, in fact they save money and get more people covered. One problem with health insurance, be it government or private is that a third party is paying for your care, so you have no incentive to shop around for a good deal, and providers have no incentive to become efficient. Just look at the cost of treatments like laser eye surgery that isn't covered by insurance. That surgery has improved, and come down in cost 80-90%. Had it been covered by insurance it probably would still cost $5000 per eye. Obama and Democrats don't support any of these reforms. Not one of them. How dare liberals say that it is Republicans who don't want real reform. It is Democrats and Obama who simply want to expand the status quo. moreResolved Question: how can i use all 3 of my license/certificates for one job?

im in my last year of school at the moment and looking forward to leaving, ideally i would love a career in aviation, but im unaware of the costs/expectation/requirements etc so im just after abit on information basically. 1) I have asked many people this and i understand its very hard to give a straight answer as it does depend on the individual in question, however does anyone know the average cost or and estimated cost as to how much the private pilot rating, instrument rating, Commercial (complex twins etc) and after that the airliner training is? i have found that commercial training in the UK is roughly £80000 but ive heard that in the US it can be as little as £50000 is this true? 2) The medical (class 3 medical): im only worried that i will pass everything on this test except for the eyesight test as i understand many people are not eligible for licensing as their eyesight is not up to standards. as it stands i have to wear either glasses or contact lenses and with those in my range of sight it very far, so is it possible to fly with either lenses or glasses? what are the regulations with regards to laser correction? 3) Are there many courses that allow you to start from scratch and work your way up? i.e. to go there with no licensing whatsoever, and then obtain you ppl and all other licensing up to frozen ATP standards? 4)Which countries allow you to obtain a license that can be used elsewhere? i am from zimbabwe and apparently the Zimbabwean pilots license does not qualify in the UK although pilots of air zimbabwe are allowed to fly to the UK 5)Are there any flight schools or routes that you can suggest in either of the countries? in the UK there are universities that offer courses that allow you to obtain a ppl and all other ratings up to and including the frozen ATPL but im not aware of any in the US. thanks for your time moreResolved Question: why do people hate nasa so much? when it gets a about HALF PERCENT of our country's budget?
NASA has done so much for America..sure it "wastes" a half percent of our total budget especially when it "wasted" funds I found this somewhere) Since 1976, about 1,400 documented NASA inventions have benefited U.S. industry, improved the quality of life and created jobs for Americans. The Apollo program has helped change the way of life in America, especially in health care. Here are some of the inventions contributed by the Apollo program. Kidney dialysis machines were developed as a result of a NASA developed chemical process that could remove toxic waste from used dialysis fluid. As a medical CAT scanner searches the human body for tumors or other abnormalities, the industrial version, or advanced computed tomography inspection system, finds imperfections in aerospace structures and components, such as castings, rocket motors and nozzles. A cardiovascular conditioner developed for astronauts in space led to the development of a physical therapy and athletic development machine used by football teams, sports clinics and medical rehabilitation centers. A hospital food service system employs a cook/chill concept for serving food. The system allows staff to prepare food well in advance, maintain heat, visual appeal and nutritional value while reducing operating costs. Athletic shoe design and manufacture also benefited from Apollo. Space suit technology is incorporated into a shoe's external shell. A stress free "blow molding" process adapted from NASA space suit design is also used in the shoe's manufacture. Freeze-dried food solved the problem of what to feed an astronaut on the long-duration Apollo missions. Insulation barriers made of aluminum foil laid over a core of propylene or mylar, which protected astronauts and their spacecraft's delicate instruments from radiation, is used to protect cars and trucks and dampen engine and exhaust noise. Water purification technology used on the Apollo spacecraft is now employed in several spinoff applications to kill bacteria, viruses and algae in community water supply systems and cooling towers. Filters mounted on faucets can reduce lead in water supplies. Process for bonding dry lubricant to space metals led to the development of surface enhancement coatings, which are used in applications from pizza making to laser manufacture. Each coating is designed to protect specific metal group or group of metals to solve problems encountered under operating conditions. Digital signal-processing techniques, originally developed to enhance pictures of the Moon for the Apollo Program, are an indispensable part of Computer-Aided Tomography (CAT) scan & Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technologies used today worldwide. Vacuum metallizing techniques led to an extensive line of commercial products, from insulated outer garments to packaging for foods & from reflective blankets to photographic reflectors. Cordless power tools & appliances are one of the most successful commercial spin-offs of space-based technology. Cool suits, which kept Apollo astronauts comfortable during moon walks, are today worn by race car drivers, hazardous area workers, & people with specific health problems. A hollow retroreflector, a mirror-like instrument that reflects light & other radiation back to the source, is used as a sensor to detect the presence of hazardous gases in oil development, chemical plants, waste storage sites & locations where gases could be released into the environment. TV Satellite Dish NASA developed ways to correct errors in the signals coming from the spacecraft. This technology is used to reduce noise (that is, messed up picture or sound) in TV signals coming from satellites. Medical Imaging NASA developed ways to process signals from spacecraft to produce clearer images. (See more on digital information and how spacecraft send images from space.) This technology also makes possible these photo-like images of our insides. Vision Screening System Uses techniques developed for processing space pictures to examine eyes of children and find out quickly if they have any vision problems. The child doesn't have to say a word! Ear Thermometer Instead of measuring temperature using a column of mercury (which expands as it heats up), this thermometer has a lens like a camera and detects infrared energy, which we feel as heat. The warmer something is (like your body), the more infrared energy it puts out. This technology was originally developed to detect the birth of stars. Fire Fighter Equipment Fire fighters wear suits made of fire resistant fabric developed for use in space suits. Smoke Detector First used in the Earth orbiting space station called Skylab (launched back in 1973) to help detect any toxic vapors. Now used in most homes and other buildings to warn people of fire. Is there anything I can use, such as cream or oil, to remove little brown spots caused by over exposure to the sun? I have heard them referred to as sun spots, liver spots, sun freckles, and age spots. I am not sure what the medical term for them is, but they are caused by damage to the skin from ultraviolet rays. A friend of mine said she went to a doctor that said this is a condition known as hyperpigmentation (not really sure if that is the right name) and the only way to remove them is through laser treatments. I’d like to know if anyone here is aware of this problem and has found anything that works without a medical treatments. moreResolved Question: How many of you realize that America is lagging in medical advancements?
I'm doing a study and I have been seeing a trend of slowing medical advancements in Western Europe and North America. Actually the Far East and Asia have been making significant breakthroughs. For example I have seen some amazing scar treatments using mesenchymal stem cells in Japan which showed 80-98% improvement of the scar. Right now in America the best you can do for scars is laser resurfacing which gives 20-50% improvements. So why is America, UK, or other powerful nations lacking? I have came to the conclusion that it's not the people or lack of acess to infomration, but it's because of government restrictions that hinder the west in it's advancement or medicine. Would you agree with is assessment?By the way, mesenchymal stem cells are not embryo but adult stem cells harvested from fat from your own body. In case your wondering... SorryInformation is in many academic studies and such. I don't think you can discredit me for using google to find such studies.Actually this isn't nothing to do with religion. Matter of fact I know many Christians(creationist are considered scientists too after all) who have no problem with adult stem cell research. It's bureaucracy.Yes, it's brought to us from the private sector. However government apporval is needed. Again this doesn't change the fact that advancements are being made in other countries. moreResolved Question: Could somone use a 100mw laser pen to eliminate rosacea?

(kinda long)?
so i had surgery last month to remove my cataract and have an IOL put in. when i went back for my 1 day post-op appointment the dr said that i needed a stronger lens than he could provide and my eye is too small for a "piggy back" (putting two IOL's in) so i would need glasses. i was "ok" with that cuz i knew it was a possibility. so then i went to my local dr (had the surgery out of town) and as soon as my eye dr saw me he immediately said the IOL was actually too strong and thats why i was so blurry. he decided to do the YAG laser procedure to see if maybe some of my blurriness was from the posterior capsule. after that i had a refraction error done and it ended up that the IOL was 9 DIOPTERS TOO STRONG! so now i have a big dilemma. i could wear glasses but they will be pretty thick OR i "could" have the IOL exchanged for the correct strength. the problem with the surgery is they already did the YAG laser and since they use the posterior capsule to stabilize the IOL and help it heal faster they aren't sure if i should exchange the IOL. so my question is: in your opinion would you as a patient have the surgery to exchange the IOL? and as a medical professional would you recommend your patient have the surgery or not?paul md: see thats my whole dilemma. i already had the YAG done so it makes it that much more complicated to exchange the lens and i cannot have a piggy back cuz my eye is too small and won't fit another lens. (the surgeon found that out already cuz the machines said i needed an outrageously powerful lense and he put the most powerful one they offer in my eye and was going to put the second lens in but it wouldn't have fit cuz my eye is soooo small *thank god he couldn't cuz it would have made my eyesight even worse*) so its either exchange the lens or just wear glasses since i can't have a piggy back. moreVoting Question: Why do we use blue lasers for medical purposes?

I'm a vegan and am actively against animal testing. I've worn contact lenses for 5 years and hate wearing glasses (i don't really know why, i think they can look very nice on other people) yet when i found out contact lenses and most solutions are tested on animals, I immediately stopped using them. However, I've always been desperate to get laser eye surgery as soon as I was old enough (6 months) though it recently occured to me this procedure will have been tested on animals to ensure its safety. I'm still completely opposed to animal testing even for medical reasons, though i have been assured no such tests continue now its safety has been assured. By getting the procedure, I would not be harming any animals and I can't take back the suffering they indured in the process' creation. I would rather the process had not been created as I'd much rather animals were saved discomfort than humans could see without aid, but now that it does exist and is no longer involved with animal cruelty, would it be a compromise of my ethics to get my vision fixed? moreResolved Question: Should I stay in the beauty industry or go to med school?
Okay...I think I know the answer to this already, but I don't want to believe it. I currently work as an esthetician giving facials, waxing and selling skin care products. I love skin care, however I do not make enough money as an esthetician working in a small salon. To make good money I would probably have to work in a large upscale salon. I've tried that and didn't like it. It was catty, everything was very strict and controlled, and I worked with all women and a few gay men, i hardly got to make any decisions, and i was bossed around by people who weren't very intelligent and were fake. my current situation is this: I work in a small salon with men and women and have my own esthetics room. I am quite happy, I get to make a lot of decisions, like the people I work with, etc. The problem is the money...I can't afford to move out of my parents house, as business increases in a year or two I may be able to. However it's never going to be a situation where I am "well off" and I have zero benefits. I have been contemplating going to med school for dermatology. I am 22, have my bachelor's in psychology and graduated with a 3.78 gpa. I would have to take more science classes which I could finish in a little over a year while continuing to work. I am a good test taker and think I could do well on the MCAT. The problem is I am not a huge fan of science...I don't like anatomy, chemistry, physics. Should a person like/love these subjects to apply to medical school? They don't interest me very much. Skin care, skin diseases, skin cancer, lasers, botox, acne, etc interests me, but in order to be a derm I would have to go to med school. I can be a little squirmy around blood and guts, but maybe I could get used to it. I want to be successful, I am hard-working and intelligent, medical school does not sound fun to me but the end result may be worth it. Help! Here's the thing... Whenever i have a huge breakout (due to a hormonal imbalance), i would go to this dermatologist in an aesthetic clinic (where they provide services like chemical peeling, botox, liposuction, collagen boost, etc) to laser on my huge zit. So every time after the doctor "laser" on my zit, his assistant would apply on a cream/ointment and also give some of it to me as a two day supply to be applied on the lasered zits, supposedly somekind of antibiotic/antiseptic cream i guess? So this time they gave it to me in its original packaging. It's called "Terramycin": Ophthalmic Ointment. (by Pfizer) I felt weird that i have to use an ophthalmic ointment for my skin, so just now i googled on "terramycin ophthalmic ointment". I was so surprised to see that all the search results conveys that this ophthalmic ointment is normally used on dogs. Even all the websites that shows up are all vet and pet websites. I don't think this make sense at all. Can someone perhaps with a medical background or experience in this matter enlighten me with a convincing answer please? moreResolved Question: Why would my skin doctor give me ophthalmic ointment which is commonly used on dogs for my zits?

Can someone perhaps with a medical background or experience in this matter enlighten me with a convincing answer please?Dear Robert, I have been on hormone pills for a year before, yet i stopped taking it as i could no longer stand its extremely dangerous side-effects. It causes me so many other pains, including chest pain, leg cramps, weight gain, moodiness etc. Also, if used in the long run, it might affect my fertility. So as i just quit using this medicine few months ago and decided to live to time to heal it or stabilize it naturally...my period/ menstruation goes haywire again and huge zits (only one at a time though) comes back again. This situation is exactly what i have faced for a while before i took the hormone pills. It means that even after a year of harsh medication, it has not still cured the problem. Anyway, thank you for telling me about your tail and neighing. moreVoting Question: Caracol Cream and My Thing?
Ok, this is rather embarrassing. However, it is also rather important. I recently received my Caracol Cream under a free trial offer. I would use it on my face, but I'm going to wait until after I finish my ALA/Blue Light treatments to begin. I'm only 16, and my skin is in ok shape aside from acne, and a few wrinkles on my forehead I don't like so much. I've looked at several reviews. Caracol Cream was at the top, so I'm thinking it's fairly effective. Now onto the important part. Some of you may find this inappropriate or disturbing if not gross, but it's just medical, so please try and be of some assistance. Anyways, when I was eleven, and I first started doing that thing... that guys do... I started off (big mistake) using shampoo. I did it twice. The first time scared the crap out of me. It left bad chemical burns that destroyed my first layer of skin (I think). After the healing, there were extensive scars and fine lines on that certain area. The second time, I used conditioner after a long time of waiting. It had the same effect. It left scars as well. Somehow, my nerves went undamaged as far as I can tell, and everything underneath the first lay of skin seems to be in good shape, but the scars make me quite self conscious So... as you may have guessed by now, I'm wondering if it the Caracol Cream would help there, too. It says it uses an exfoliation process. Which I know means to remove the first layer of dead skin cells... this worries me. Would this potentially damage my nerves in my... thing? And would it possibly cause even more scarring? Either way, those scars make me self conscious. And it's a scary thing to have any kind of laser surgery in that part of your body or any other methods of scar removal. the scars are more fine lines than anything, so it's not so much any scars as wrinkles and fine lines. I expect some to be normal, but most of the ones that I have I know for a fact aren't natural to have... thanks in advance. moreResolved Question: Is Ozonotherapy really effective for cases where the disc has moved and touches the nerve ? Ifnot, what can Ido?
I have found this article: "Discal Hernia and Ozonetherapy Discal Hernia Diagram This syndrome is recognized as the most common cause for lumbago and sciatica. It represents the second cause for work absences after infection in the respiratory system and is the third cause for disabilities after psychiatric affections and artrosis. The diagnosis of this illness includes X rays, magnetic resonance and axial tomography very common in vertebral related pathologies. It has been reported in various traumatology practices, numerous surgical interventions for hernias where the results have not been as desired. This has provoked great medical discouragement because there was no solution for the lumbosciatic and worse a surgical intervention has already been performed based on an apparent correct diagnosis. The inter-vertebral discs are cartilaginous plates surrounded by a fibrous ring which lie between the vertebral bodies and serve to cushion them. Through degeneration, wear and tear, or 3 days ago I have found this article: " How does Ozone Act on Hernias? 1-Ozone provokes an oxidation in the muco-polysacharide which makes the nucleus pulp (part of the hernia), disperses water from its structure and improves the cellular metabolism around the hernia. In this manner, the hernia reduces the volume of the nucleus pulp and fosters its cicatrisation. The size of the hernia diminishes considerably and it can completely disappear. 2. Ozone has an analgesic effect on the nervous fibers of the vertebrae. 3. Ozone improves the flux of the venous plexus which manifests when there is an irritation and a muscular compression, this is an anti-inflammatory effect. What is the Procedure? Injections with ozone. • This method consists of para-vertebral muscular injections of ozone in predetermined quantities and concentrations. • Anesthesia is not necessary neither any type of sedation. • Systemic ozone via rectal insufflations. • No necessity to intern..." 3 days ago the patient can continue with his/her activities. • The method does not present any risks or any collateral effects. In addition to this procedure, we add laser and kinesiology treatments to improve and accelerate the rehabilitation of the patient. How Many Sessions? This is relative, each case is different, but it will usually fluctuate between 12 to 15, although in exceptional cases it can reach 30. Does Ozonetherapy in Hernias Have Any Collateral Effects? Ozonetherapy is absent of collateral effects. Ozone has effective bactericide and anti-viral properties, the risks associated with an injection are mitigated. What is the Success Rate? In general terms, the success rate fluctuates between 80% and 90%. Summarizing: • Ozone produces a local hyper oxygenation direct or indirect by diffusion. • Ozone modulates and regulates the sympatric peri-arterial and venous systems which reestablishes the physiological tone of the vein walls. • Ozone decongests the canal, 3 days ago improves oxygenation, reduces inflammation, gives more space to the nervous roots and contributes to the elimination of pain. Ozonetherapy when used properly transforms itself in an effective therapy against hernias when compared to conventional treatments and surgery. Ozonetherapy is indicated for discal hernias in any location. 3 days ago This second paragraph was missing:" the inter-vertebral discs are cartilaginous plates surrounded by a fibrous ring which lie between the vertebral bodies and serve to cushion them. Through degeneration, wear and tear, or trauma, the fibrous tissue (annulus fibrosus) constraining the soft disc material (nucleus pulposus) may tear. This results in protrusion of the disc or even extrusion of disc material into the spinal canal. This has been called herniated disc, ruptured disc, herniated nucleus pulposus, or prolapsed disc. Discal hernia may become significant if a nerve root is compressed. Irritation of the nerve root produces pain in the distribution of that nerve, typically down the back of the leg, side of the calf, and possibly into the side of the foot. For this reason, a herniated lumbar disc characteristically produces sciatica but not back pain per se. If sensory function of the impinged nerve root is impaired, numbness will result. The exact area of numbness is determined by determined by the particular root, and may be in the inner ankle, the great toe, the heel, the outer ankle, the outer leg, or a combination of these. Impairment of motor function of the root will cause weakness which again depends on the particular root, and may include weakness of bringing the ankle upward or downward or raising the great toe. To avoid these symptoms it is necessary to perform an exhaustive exam and evaluate all types of therapies that do not involve a surgical intervention, such as ozonetherapy." I took him to a med spa and the doctor there put him on antibiotics, gave him Glytone to use and also gave him a series of micro dermabrasions, chemical peels and a laser treatment. There will be people that say "no, to tink with our genetic code is to play God", but we already play God with medical science. People who would naturally die, now live. First, it's going to start with gentic fixes for hemophelia and other genetic diseases. Then it's going to be well I want my kid to be taller, stronger, and just a little bit more normal. Eventually, everybody is going to go all out! We'll have humans who can shoot laser beams from their eyes!alion, I did not think about that. In that time machine book, the human race evolves into two distinct species. Genetic engineering might have something to do with that. moreResolved Question: acupuncture-is this a good essay on it?
is this a good essay on acupunture need a rating from 0-100 Chinese interest in medicine and health started over 5000 years ago in 3000BC. Chinese have invented and discovered many cures in medical issues. One of those great inventions is acupuncture, which has also helped discover the blood flow in the body. Acupuncture involves inserting small needles into specific areas of the body to relieve pain. The needle triggers the body to adjust the nervous system and other areas of the body. When a needle is inserted it feels like a pinch. It is very affective and has no side effects. Acupuncture is used to give the patient energy (QI). Acupuncture has a very long history and is also used to stimulate (Give energy/motivation) blood flow. Acupuncture began when a Chinese emperor called Fuxi started to talk about its concept which later became more developed. The process in which acupuncture developed is not known in great detail as acupuncture started very, very long ago and can be named one of the longest lasting cures. It is not certain that acupuncture was first made in china, but there is a good amount of evidence that it is true. It is believed that acupuncture was made long ago in the Han dynasty and Stone Age. Legend says that some types of needle similar in some ways to acupuncture were made to relieve warriors in battle, in very ancient times as a start to acupuncture. Research has shown that the first needles used by those of years gone by were made from sharp Bian stone, this changed through the years to bronze, gold and then silver. Historians have found body in Alps with tattoos, some in the exact same areas of acupoints (where a needle in acupuncture is inserted) used today. Chinese believe that if a person is not well or healthy the two opposite forces called the yin and yang are unbalanced. The yin and yang are two opposite forces and is used and religion and beliefs. In terms of acupuncture, Chinese believe when the patient is relieved that the two forces are balanced. Acupuncture has benefited medical research. Where in acupuncture a needle, is inserted it is called an acupoint and a specialist in acupuncture is called and acupuncturist. There are many, many different acupoints in the body which the Chinese (ancient and modern) have perfected (over 1,000). Which research gone further into precise nerves and body parts medical research has been benefited along the way and know more about nerves and blood flow because of the Ancient Chinese. Acupuncture which first started in ancient china started to slowly spread to its neighbouring countries in Asia and some in Europe. Later acupuncture spread to other countries and gained popularity in Australia and other western areas. The US only started using acupuncture till very recently in 1971 where their friendship with China expanded. Acupuncture has not stopped and is still being used throughout the world. In ancient civilisations people used herbs and drugs (anaesthetic) to relieve pain, until acupuncture was introduced, drug use was ceasing. Unfortunately drug use for some people became popular again, but not everyone fell for drug addiction and continued to use acupuncture. Even today many people use drugs not knowing of the great benefits of acupuncture, mainly because of addiction. Even though, countless people have benefited from acupuncture. Western areas of the world have used the same concept of acupuncture, however it is different in some ways. Modern acupuncture has been modified and goes even to precise nerve points in the body. It is even used in major surgery issues and involves technical objects such as magnets and lasers. Acupuncture is practiced widely throughout the world in places such as Europe and Asia. Each country's system is a little different, based on other traditions as well as points used. Some styles use lots and lots of points, while others use very few. Also some use very long needles and others tiny ones. If acupuncture was not introduced many people would still use drugs to relive pain, but again the message has not gone through because of many reasons such as addiction. Acupuncture has benefited medical research greatly. It is widely used and practiced today and has been modified by western areas of the world and china. Acupuncture has been a all out success and continues to benefit people all over the world. moreResolved Question: I need help finding a good full coverage foundation?

I am a former customer of the Skinovative laser center. About a month ago, i bought a prepaid package of chemical peels for acne for about $473. Couple days after purchasing the package i tried to call them to book my appointment but i found out that they temporarly closed the store due to not having a medical director to run thier business. I waited two to three weeks and still couldn't get a hold of anyone. Finally i found out that they closed the store permanently and due to bankrupcy or something, they will not be able to refund any money to any customer. I got worried and tried to reach them but the phone is disconnected and there is no other way to get a hold of them. A girl that used to work there as a cashier told me that they will never refund the money back. I am really worried now because I am a student and can't afford to give up that money.
