Voting Question: Who is to blame for high health care costs today?

I am reading an article on CNN where a a Dr. Screiber breaks down his costs and explains how he will basically get minimum wage if medicare payments are cut. He explains that he charges $70 for a blood pressure check, medicare pays $44. He charges $92 for a visit relating to a cough, medicare pays $58. For a 30 minute visit he charges $120, medicare pays $88. I understand the equipment is also expensive and the malpractice insurance he pays is about $7000 but that is low he explains it can be as high as $100,000. It seems to me the equipment is overpriced, maybe because too few suppliers. I don;t know but having worked with high end electronic devices for many years I do not believe that most medical equipement is worth half of what it is being sold for. As far as capabilities and being advanced. It also seems that the insurance companies are charging a rediculous amount for insurance if it is $100,000 a year. If it costs that much for insurance to me that indicates that the majority of our Docs are not to be trusted with our health and well being in the first place. Thats a high cost to pay for an "uh-oh" unless the "uh-ohs" are very common and that high cost is needed to offset them. Then I would think we need a much heavier screening of Docs to justify their fees before the practice. I am thinking also that the fees he charges are ridiculous. $70 for a blood pressure check...don't most pharmacies, grocery stores and walmart do that for free? So who is to blame for high costs of health care? Doctors, Insurance or medical suppliers. Have we let them get run away like the banks by chargnig whatever they want ratehr than forcing them to have competitive pricing? more

Resolved Question: Child support not being spent on the children?

I'm paying child support in Illinois for two teenage girls (16 and 14), to the custodial father. I am paying the requisite 28% of my income, plus covering their medical insurance. The problem is he is spending the money on himself and not the children. At one time instead of paying him child support I was buying them the things they needed, as well as covering their insurance. Now for over a year he has been collecting the money and buying clothing, electronic equipment, televisions, computers and cell phones for himself. My girls need dental care, clothing, glasses, and more, but his mother ends up buying these things, and they have to wait for a holiday to get them, like a birthday or Christmas. They even rifle through my underwear drawer looking for things they can take home because they have none. My 16 year old asked for new glasses because contact lenses hurt and scratch her eyes. He told me she wasn’t getting them until he gets his first. Yesterday she told me he’s buying another plasma television. Can’t something be done?! My attorney says that in Illinois you don’t have to show where the money goes. Is this true?I'm sorry, I should have mentioned. I've been fighting for custody since June of 2007, almost three years. It has cost me everything. And, though the girls want to live with me and have said so, the Court will not acknowledge that. I hired a case evaluator who in the end said that the girls have been in their community too long and it would be to hard on them for a change of custody. This is the third time I have petitioned for custody since 1998. I live in Indiana, so it would also be a removal. The court is in a town where everyone is related to everyone else. For example, the judge who entered the custody order in the first place was the wife of my ex-husband's attorney. I only found out about this in 2007. They make it hard on you if you are not a "townie." Outside of that, I have not always had, and still don't have, the money to fight this, while his parents have helped him finance his court/attorney costs. more

Resolved Question: Anyone used both a mechanics and medical stethoscope?

I'm trying to find an underground water pipe leak, it is giving no signs of water or anything else, but I know its there. After researching I've found that the high pressure water leask actually make a bit of noise. I know they have very expensive listening equipment out there, but I don't have the money to buy the expensive stuff, it or hire someone. I want to at least give it a shot to listen through the ground with a stethoscope first. The problem is, I've searched for hours for a direct comparison between mechanics stethoscopes and medical stethoscopes, and cannot find any sort of comparison. I do have a cheap mechanics stethoscope. I figured maybe driving a metal stake into the ground at various places, and listening through it with the mechanics stethoscope might be the best way. However I saw a expensive leak detecting stethoscope, that looked much more like a medical stethoscope. I was thinking maybe it would be worth getting a $20 medical one instead, that I could just place directly on top of the soil and it might work better. I just simply can't find any good technical details as far as what types of frequency ranges they pick up, etc. The other option is a $40 harbor freight "digital diagnostics stethoscope", its like a digitla version of a mechanics stethoscope, but I can't find any reviews or anything if that actually works any better. So if anyone has experience with both, (or even the electronic ones) could you tell me the plusses and minuses of each? Which would be better for listening to underground noises? Thanks for the long and detailed answer so far, although the leak is not under a slab foundation, its in the yard either on the main line, or perhaps in the irrigation system (which I never use). There isn't a main shutoff in the house, but I'm 99% sure its not in the house since I have traced all plumbing in the whole crawlspace with no traces of water, not to mention the crawlspace is completely dry. I also tested the toilets. The meter is running so there has got to be a leak in the yard somewhere but there is no trace at all. I was hoping a stethiscope could help find it, but I don't know wether to drive a stake in the ground and put a mechanics stethoscope to it, or buy a medical one, or even buy a $40 harbor freight digital mechanics stethoscope. Just don't know which would work best. Its leaking roughly 1 cubic foot (7.4 gallons), every 25 minutes. more

Voting Question: Does My Employer (Mental Health Hospital) Have The "Legal" Right To Record Conversations?

My employer is a "Mental Health Hospital" and they recently installed audio devices to capture the conversations that occur on floors of the different units. This equipment was installed in the actual floors and ceilings of the units. They already have "silent video" cameras recording clients and and mainly staff. They have notices posted that video surveillance is taking place, however, i never signed a waiver or contract stating that I submit to these acts. Is it implied as a continuation of my working there? I think the patients will be "forced" to sign a waiver saying it's "In Their Best Interest". I know a waiver for employees will quickly follow and be forced on us to sign without it being looked at by an attorney. Is it legal to record conversation of employees in the medical setting of a private hospital? I read that Electronic Communications Privacy Act would protect against recording audio, but not "silent video". I know a release will soon be forced on us to sign soon. They say it was necessary for incidents of "verbal abuse" of clients. Contact an attorney maybe? I think this comes down to E.C.P.A vs. Patriot Act. What legal statute would make this a "Legal" act or an "Illegal" one? Please helpThey don't use the video or audio for protection of clients or staff. It is used in cases where Medicaid and Joint Commissions require the data in claims from clients against the hospital. They state in policy they are not required in by courts to furnish a/v data from hospital because of medical privacy of clients. So, no its not for protection of either client or staff, it is for hospital liability. more

Resolved Question: the ultimate explanation for ghosts ?

In some haunted locations, researchers have measured magnetic fields that are stronger than normal or which exhibit unusual fluctuations. These may be localized phenomena that stem from electronic equipment or geological formations, or they may be part of the Earth's magnetic field. Medical researchers have also studied the effects of electrical fields on people's brains. Electrical stimulation to the angular gyrus of the brain, for example, can cause the sensation of someone behind you mimicking your movements. Electrical stimulation to different parts of the brain has also caused people to hallucinate or seem to have near-death experiences. Several experiments have demonstrated that low-frequency sound waves, known as infrasound, can cause phenomena that people typically associate with ghosts. This includes feelings of nervousness and discomfort as well as a sense of a presence in the room Source : http://science.howstuffworks.com/ghost3.htm the Question : Your thoughts ? more

Resolved Question: I think I'm OCD. Can someone confirm this?

I don't want to see a doctor about it, but I was wondering if there's any people in the medical industry around who can diagnose me. Please tell me what you think I have rather than just saying "Go to a doctor"; if I wanted that answer, why would I be here? I'll just describe my symptoms. Using electronic equipment: The volume on the television must be a multiple of 5. The mouse on the computer screen must always stay in the very bottom right hand when not actively being used, so it only uses up 1 pixel. When I play on a driving game, if I scrape a car on the left side of my car, I must then scrape the right side on another car. If I'm playing Guitar Hero I often ruin a good run of a song I'm trying to 100% because either I have to look at the computer screen to see if I have a facebook message or an msn conversation, even if the sound is on on the PC and I KNOW that noone's talked to me. The other thing that makes me miss is when my right wrist is touching the fretboard of the guitar controller and my left wrist isn't touching anything, so I have to bend it round to touch the neck of the guitar controller to balance things out. When tidying: Generally I leave things in a mess, but when I organise things and I want them to look good, everything has to be parallel or perpendicular. For instance, in the common room, our seats in our area cannot wave to one side. Also, on a desk, if I have paper I want on the desk, it must stay parallel to the side of the desk, and if I then had a pencil above the paper, that would be perpendicular. Everything must be at 90 degree angles. When I wake up in the morning and go in the bathroom, first I lock the door, then I push a towel over the doorknob so the keyhole is concealed, then if I go to the toilet, afterwards I will go back to the door to check it's definitely locked before I go in the shower. When walking: I set off on my left foot, so if the pavement changes colour because roadworks have been done at some point, so there's grey ground then black ground, I must finish on my right foot and set off on my left again. So if I'm making the transition from walking on black ground to grey ground when my last footstep was on my left foot, I have to put my right foot down before I can take another step. If I bang my shoulder or bang my elbow, or just touch it on something, I must then touch the opposite body part. Sometimes this starts a pattern, e.g. that means I've gone LR, where L is left and R is right; which isn't fair, so I go LRRL, then LRRLRLLR, then LRRLRLLRRLLRLRRL etc. until I forget what I was doing or something distracts me. There's a door in our common room that annoys me greatly. It's a double door so the doors slot into each other such that you have to push the left door (or from the other side pull the right door) for the doors to interlock. If someone pulls the wrong door so one door is on top of the other instead of interlocked with it, I must wait till other people are gone so I can pull the other door out on top of it. I'm really bad at concentrating and I find it physically impossible to revise. I also take about an hour and a half to get to sleep every night. Also, when I'm gaming or partaking in a hilarious or otherwise enthralling discussion, debate or activity, I am happy. Otherwise I'm generally always thinking about a girl that I don't have the nerve to ask out. I'm also quite paranoid. Every day I check her page to make sure she doesn't have a boyfriend, even though I know I'll never ask her out, and when I walk down the road I always look behind me to make sure noone is nearby. When I see people I am always aware of them and prepared for the worst. Also, when I look behind me, say on my left, I then have to look back by turning my head right as well, to make things equal. I generally pretend I'm looking for a bus or something, when actually I look at them in the corner of my eye, or through a reflection in a window, or look sideways and out of the corner of my eye to make sure they aren't accelerating. Also, I'm a resident "Grammar nazi", as they say, on several forums. I get extremely frustrated when people use "your" instead of "you're" and "it's" instead of "its". I think probably e.g. thinking about the girl I like is pretty normal for my age (17), but I think something is amplifying that, which is not normal. I also love symmetry, and when I draw or make things they are symmetrical, although I'm not really an arty person; I'm a further maths student. I'm really sorry for writing so much, I'm very grateful; I know it's a lot to read. I just hope someone can shed some light. Oh, and also, just so you know, I am perfectly within my right mind, I am very rational etc., I simply obsess over trivial things, which I know I shouldn't, and I wish I wouldn't, but I do. more

Resolved Question: this is the end of my essay, will you proof read please?

On to college, being a radiologic technologist doesn’t require a huge amount of college. Knowing computers is an additional thing I found that was important in this line of employment, this is because working the x-ray machine includes working with circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment, computer hardware and computer software. This topic is something I could defiantly learn a lot about. Two years, or an associates degree at a technical school is needed. During these two years my class load would be heavy, some students prefer to space the courses out and go to college for 3 years (Radiologic Technologists and Technicians). Things studied during college are radiation protection, pathology, patient care procedures and medical ethics among other things. After college, you can become certified or licensed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, certification will help you when applying for a job. To get this certification I would have to pass an exam on everything I learned in college (How To Be an X-Ray…). Another helpful piece of advice I’ve found was that to get more experience you should train or take an intern ship at a hospital , or enlist in an accredited radiography program (How To Be an X-Ray…). I think when looking for a job or researching a career you should look for one that you already have the personality traits for considering it is hard to change your personality. One trait I think is common sense is, caring for people and being a people person. Through out the day in this field you are helping people, trying to make them less in pain, help them know what is wrong, or talking to various doctors and medical personal. So being someone who can get along with a lot of people would greatly help in this occupation. This is something I feel I would be good at because I enjoy being around people and am a people person. Also I have found out that time management is a good skill or trait to have as an x-ray technologist (Radiologic Technologist). You need to keep in mind at all times the other injured patients waiting to be taken care of. Next I think another skill that goes hand-in-hand with time management is coordination. Career Zone explains this skill as “adjusting actions in relation to others’ actions”. Two more personality traits that I think easily relate to one another are being able to think critically and being able to instruct others easily. The first, critical thinking or logic, is needed when comparing and contrasting individual solutions and outcomes. Critical thinking is needed to instruct others, every situation will be different working in this field (Radiologic Technologist). For example, one day you may be instructing a little boy with a broken arm how to waterproof his cast before showering, where as the next day you could be informing an elderly lady about her broken ankle. Overall I think I have these skills but if I do plan on being a radiologic technologist I should work on my instruction skills. So far this seems like a rewarding career but when exploring this job I have found two other jobs that are rather thought-provoking, for one, a radiation therapist. People in this career make about the same salary as an x-ray technologist, have more schooling but can provide radiation therapy. These professionals can still take x-rays though (Radiation Therapists). This job sounds nice but an radiologic technologist still sounds better. The next job I came across that I was curious about was a nuclear medicine technologist. People in this career most times have to get a bachelors degree and have a slightly higher salary. Nuclear medicine technology is not about bones and the human body, which is what I’m interested in. This career involves more knowledge, diagnostics, and radiation therapy of the blood, cells, fat and muscles (Nuclear Medicine Technologist). Both of these careers would be more striking if I wanted to broaden my radiologic technologist career. Even after my research of a radiologic technologist, I have still do not have a great idea of what I want to be when I get out of high school. Radiologic technology has proven to me it is a very interesting field with a lot of room for growth but I’m still not totally convinced that this is the job for me.its an i-search paper, i am supposed to use 'I". more

Resolved Question: Can I get my check-in luggage screened by TSA in front of me.?

Can I get my check-in baggage checked by TSA at airport in front of me? I am travelling abroad. My baggage will contain Medical Electronic Equipments. These are Laparoscopic Surgery Consoles. I want to be there if they have questions regarding these equipments, so that i can answer them. Also I want that the instruments be screened carefully without damage and not lost or taken out without my knowledge.(had that experience before). Should I carry letter from the Hospital detailing the type of Equipment. If yes, whom should i contact ? and i guess i need to reach early at airport (Detroit airport). Can i go to airport few days before my departure and show TSA these equipments in advance and ask if these are allowed as check-in. I don't see any reason, if it can be any sort of security threat for them. Appreciate for your patience and help for this long question. Thanks May be this is a different issue. Last year, i checked-in my small portable vaccum cleaner in my baggage in an international flight. Later, when I opened by bag, I found that they had taken the battery out of the vaccum cleaner. Not sure if it was a prohibited item. Thanks in advance, appreciate your patience and help. more

Resolved Question: is it too late to become a biomedical engineer?

Resolved Question: Should I press charges on my girlfriend?

We have been together for 12 years and we bought a house together. I adopted a baby. We bought alot of things together and we even invested in some expensive show dogs. We had some problems about 3 years ago because she got involved with drugs and nearly bankrupted us. We nearly broke up but she cleaned up and asked me to stay. I did stay but had some trust issues. I still allowed her access to the finances, I just watched closer how our money was spent. Sometimes she spent way too much money, and I would question her about it. She would get offended. Several times I offered that we needed to split the finances and make a budget but it never happened because she always needed more money than me. She spent ALOT of our joint money on medical treatments, smoking, electronic equipment, and video games. This didn't leave much money and we were living paycheck to paycheck. Yesterday when I got home from work, the house was cleaned out and everything was gone. I had no idea the problems were this bad. She left me a note she couldn't live with me anymore because I didn't trust her. I called her, and she said she needed space but she wanted to still be with me and she still loved me. But she took everything including the dogs. I truly love her. I feel robbed. I'm confused and I don't understand. Do I call the police and press charges? more

Resolved Question: why doesn't the stimulus package include funds for national defense?

it is the constitutional role of federal government to do 2 things: defend our country and defend our borders. i want to know what reason there is for not including moneys for national defense in this "stimulus" package that to me is simply a means to give the federal government more control over my life. did president obama, like many others even on this forum, forget 9/11? did anyone here see osama bin laden's last televised speech in which he said that his armies of the taliban and al quaeda plan even worse vicious attacks on our soil, and soon? why don't we just bring our troops home from iraq to be given jobs guarding our borders? but there is NO MONEY allotted in this stimulus package for national defense! nada. nothing. there is no money in it for improving all the veteran's hospitals either. rather, there is provision for a new governmental bureaucracy that will oversee the care that doctors give to their patients, supposedly to prevent duplication of medical tests! i am old enough to tell one doctor to look at the results of my family doctor's blood tests or any other tests! i do not need my medical records, nor do i want them, kept in electronic form within a federal database!!! that will be just the beginning of national health care, which in turn will go to Big Brother is Watching Me, and i do not want that. do you? anyhow, if there's pork on this bill, which 61 senators voted in (part one of two parts) as a win for it, why is there no pork for our military? most of our military equipment now used in the middle east is scheduled to be scrapped. we are giving humvies to the iraqians. should we be a country that is open to being attacked? again? do you know that president obama is behind a vast number of palestian refugees coming into this country, not required to work for a living, but who will be supported by we, the taxpayers? why should we support any immigration at such a crucial time in our history, much less PALESTIANS, who hate us and wish to destroy us? do you recall that citizen obama had talked about building up an internal "military force" WITHIN our country? why is that? do the democrats, who will spend your grandchildren's grandchildren's money to get this stimulus package passed by majority vote (all it needs now is the part II vote) agree that we have no need to support and to rebuild our national defense? why? if no military spending is done in this "stimulus," a shame to us via our having voted in congressmen that work against our very lifeblood, the well being of our children and their children just to meet this president obama so-called emergency spending plan!!! who says that there will be no attack on our soil again? want to know what? mayor daley, the mayor of chicago, the dirtiest political city in the country, told president obama, in public, recently, that our country should do as he does, namely, to sell off our infrastructure to raise money (but with daley, it's all about bringing in the 2016 olympics...2016 is a long time away)! mayor daley sold off 4 elements of future dollars for our city already, and there is one that really worries me, since it has a lot to do with the defense of millions of people, of citizens. mayor daley sold off a tollroad called the chicago skyway, he sold off the parking meters, he sold off the parking garages, and he rented out midway airport! that's the thing that worries me. if terrorists get employed now at midway, how easy it would be to poison lake michigan, which supplies fresh water to millions and millions of people all around it! since there is no money allocated for national defense in this wild idea brainchild of president obama, then what will we do if we are attacked again? there are all kinds of ways we can be attacked, and i deliberately refuse to write about the many that i have thought about because who knows who will read my words? so, once this democratic senate and its traitorous republican senators that went over to the left vote in stage 2 of the stimulus bill, all of it will be the law. and in that law, not only is there no money to replace necessary military equipment, but nothing to give veterans the medical care that they need--and aren't they worth it? AND in that law, you and i will not get proper medical treatment if the new bureaucrats of this "Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research," which is a fancy name that is, in essence, Doublespeak (Nineteen Eighty Four by George Orwell), who we will pay the salaries to as they sit around having meetings in their cushy leather executive chairs two days out of a five day work week (yes, most congressmen only work 1.5 days a week and then they get the summer off too, paid, of course, with our tax dollars that do NOT bury the deficit) deciding how the doctors should work: http://www.hudson.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=publication_details&id=6010 but which of tEDIT: there is more to this question, i just cannot insert it now--i guess there is some crawler that counts out the characters, but how can you pose your question if you can't argue it?IAGAIN: but which of them will be medical or osteopathic doctors able to make health care decisions? i will lay my bet right now that all of them will be politicians, and, if a few of them are doctors (not of the fine ilk of ron paul, MD, the best and most caring, genuine house representative that we have), they will be picked only for their politics. and they will not allocate money from this stimulus package to rebuild our military, will they? we are facing highway robbery if this bill becomes the law. here's an article about that: http://foxforum.blogs.foxnews.com/2009/02/10/tantaros_stimulus_republicans/ we don't need additional DEBT--we need for those that have money to SPEND IT on rebuilding our country to the shining glory that we had in the 1950s, and we need to mandate that most of our work is done right here in the good ole US of A and not outsourced so that we cannot get a good job! and we need to BUY AMERICAN in order to make our companies build ......our work is done right here in the good ole US of A and not outsourced so that we cannot get a good job! and we need to BUY AMERICAN in order to make our companies build factories again! so what we really need are tax cuts. so i hope you get a lot of letters, phone calls, emails, faxes, and telegrams out to these dunderheads that suck from you and me every term telling them that if they vote this bill into law, you will not vote for them, but that instead, maybe, you and your buddies will drag them out of their cushy chairs, and down the stairs from their offices, to place their dummy heads and money lending hands into a stock, like the pilgrims built, so that the citizens, namely, us, we, the people, can pass buckets of ice cold water, one to the next, to douse them with so that they WAKE UP and start to truly represent us. what do you say to all of this? why do you say it? i like answers that are very thorough and well thought out. i don't like one liners......i don't like one liners. you can leave one, but that certainly will not put you into the running for best answer. i will know by how fast you answer this question whether you even opened up the link provided to you above. thank you for your answers, even if you oppose me--that is all right with me and you will not get a thumbs down from me if you can show me how you oppose me and why. AND YES! i am a writer and do a number of other licensed trades, and i TOUCH TYPE and i even take SHORTHAND, which pulled me through 2 universities. and YES! i like to explain my argument. so, if you wish to tell me i make my questions too long, that's all right. but you might miss the drift if you do not read it all. good luck!OH! I FORGOT! i do not know this, do you? what amount of money will go to GIs that return home from iraq, i.e., the GI bill. does it still exist? will it be enough for each vet to get a good enough paying job to buy one of those houses out there with the foreclosure signs on them? will they get top spot for job placement and training and to go to school? will employers be encouraged via tax cuts to hire them? and btw: isn't it possible that saddam hussain sold the WMD to iran and others or had them buried in the sand? yeah, we did spend too much in iraq, but those possibilities exist. AND: more and more al quaeda troops are born every day: muslims are now 1/4 of the world population. and no, they do not have a history of peace and love towards anyone not of their faith. more

Voting Question: Career Advice from any System Analysts?

I just turned 28 years old, I have a BS in Zoology (didn’t know what I wanted to do at the time) and was lucky enough to land a job after school which allowed me to explore other career interests. For the past 4.5 years I have been working for a small rural Long Term Care Facility doing a combination of mid level accounting, business office management and IT work. With regards to IT, I have helped a relatively computer illiterate clinical bunch implement an electronic medical record including: Working with management on equipment/software planning and purchasing, Server 2003 LAN setup, wireless networking, managing access to resources and supporting 100 users. Although I am not really a hard-core “programmer-type”, I have an interest in technology and have always been able to pick things up easily. I am good with people and acting as a liaison between the tech guys and management/end users. The issue is I don’t plan on staying where I am forever and am worried about my lack of formal education in the computer field. My questions are: 1. Do you think a Systems Analyst would be a good career for me to shoot for considering my past and personality? 2.What do you recommend for education to increase my odds of getting a job? Another Bachelor’s Degree (In the Computer Field), a possibly more practical tech school degree, or an MBA (possibly focusing on technology in a business environment)? Thanks for any advice I really appreciate it.  more

Resolved Question: Do you feel that insurance companies should cover the best or just the minimal health services?

Do you think insurance companies should cover the costs of the best treatments &/or medical equipment and maintenance (ie: physical therapy to maintain your abilities that would otherwise worsen if not kept up on) that is possible to receive, OR should they only cover the cost of treatment that are cheaper to cover, possibly less effective, and offer no follow-up or maintenance care. Q#2: Should insurance cover the cost of birth control? My A to Q1: I think Insurance should cover whatever is best for the patient, not what is adequate. I wish I could get all the kids I work with (special needs population) Wheelchairs that could stand them upright or at least rise them up to eye level, and climb stairs (yes, they do exist). And electronic devices for speaking (like Stephen Hawking). (Most) Insurance agencies and Medicaid/care do not fund such purchases because they deem them non-necessities. How is not being able to speak, not a need? How is being as independent as much as possible not a need? My A to Q2: Yes! This should have happened a long time ago. <---stepping off my soapbox now. I appreciate your time and any opinions you can provide. Thanks for your answers. more

Resolved Question: Are religious fundamentalists anti-science?

Some religious fundamentalists put down science all the time. I have seen posts by fundamentalists proclaiming evolution is a conspiracy, the big bang didn't happen, the earth is only 6000 years old, dinosaur bones were laid their by the devil, AIDS is God's punishment etc etc. The list goes on, and on but the implication is clear. Science is bad. Is it because it disagrees with a 3000 year old verse buried somewhere in the Old Testament? If they are so anti-science why don't they also reject medical science, electrical equipment, cars and planes, electronic communication. They are all products of science too. more

Resolved Question: Am I losing it or is something really strange going on....?

I am for the most part pretty sane and normal, and dont jump to conclusions. I always rationalize, but this is nuts! 3 weeks ago my pap (who I was very very close to), died unexpectedly.it's been extremely hard on me, but i'm getting along. the prob is, that since he died a few "strange" things have been happening. the two strangest are when i was transporting a pt (im an EMT), one of my electronic medical equipment started showing a reading and it wasnt hooked up to anyone,( reading as in a heartrate), and when I was alone (for sure) in the truck bay doing a rig check, something "hit" the back of my ambulance,( i heard it and felt the little vibration in the chasis).Could this stuff really be happening, and if so what do you think's going on? or am I just so crazy with grief right now that I could be having realistic halucinations??? help! i feel like i'm losing it! more
